Last month, I bought the book Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind and I’m so excited to start reading it! I’m so passionate with learning about people, different cultures, and the history of the world through the angle of humanity & this is also going to give me a head start for my studies in cultural anthropology in university! I guess we shall see if this book lives up to my expectation ✨🤍

Eid mubarak!!! I’m currently at my grandma’s and will stay here for some time so expect some more Mediterranean content!! On a side note, I’ve finished reading Werther while working at my mom’s shop and I do understand why my French lit teacher didn’t stop talking about it.
31st July - What do you like most about the beach?
The beach is a sanctuary for my friends and me. We mostly spend our time there, playing games, eating, drinking, just having a good time. Most of my cherished summer memories were made on there.

I’m really lucky to be doing okay at the moment - I’m in an area that is minimally impacted by coronavirus, I’ve got a secure job and secure home environment. My thoughts go out to everybody who is struggling at the moment. My inbox is always open and I have lots of love to give ❤️

(Mostly) empty spread for the first week of August. Lots of Big Girl Things happening this month...trying to build discipline to tie up all the loose ends I have from my summer projects and prepare for my first semester at uni. I have a particular attachment to the little chest of drawers I drew below Sunday :)

excited for what may will bring (and winter).
it snowed last night so i decided to read in bed today. i also listened to prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune by debussy this morning as it was recommended by my professor and i luckily have it on vinyl.
a good day consisted of books, coffee, and a stairwell full of plants.
I love my university, our beautiful libraries and I am so grateful that I can study here

first time visiting and studying at the state library today! really trying to get into studying regularly before it’s time to go back to school.
I made a spontaneous trip to IKEA on Tuesday and bought this desk lamp. I’m in complete love; it’s adjustable and stable, meaning that when I’m studying late at night, I can ensure that my eyes are protected from the bright glare. 10/10, highly recommend.
unconventional study tips
- buy yourself new stationery: i get so excited about using new pens that i don’t mind writing that essay i’ve been putting off for days
- use a playlist as a study timer: have a selection of instrumentals and songs with lyrics. take a break everytime a song with lyrics comes on and work during the instrumentals
- make your study space smell fresh: mint and lemon tend to be good options
- write down how much time you spend studying for a test and then the grade you got: then you can figure out how time you really need to spend to get a good grade. this will help you use your time more effectively
- spend your study breaks showering or exercising for about 30 mins: then come back fresh and quickly review what you have learned. this will help the information sink in
- don’t always study in comfy clothes or pyjamas: do your hair or makeup if you want too. this will put you in ‘get shit done’ mode
- record yourself explaining topics you’ve just studied: explaining/teaching topics helps you learn so much better, and you also have a little video to review before tests
