I’m not good enough for proper bookbinding materials, but I have paper+tape+markers+bluetack, so I’ll be okay!

Front covers are based on the beginning of the first graphic novel, where they act out the start of the War of Sandwing Succession — back covers are a place they’ve been in each book.

First five Percy Jackson books are next and this has the added bonus of being able to hide books I don’t necessarily want my parents to see,,

Luke, Silena, and Clarisse’s turn!

Again, yapping under cut

Forgive me for taking away basically all of Luke’s patterns, he was getting too hard to draw… but he still has his snake-ness!! Clarisse and Silena got simplified too, ESPECIALLY SILENA. She had too much going on. Their silhouettes are better! And more unique!

Before the second titan war, Clarisse’s bracelet was Silena’s (that detail is the same). Also, all of the burn scars weren’t there, and her red band wasn’t tattered. Luke has a permanently closed eye, except for after Kronos possesses him - that makes both eyes open, and both eyes gold. Silena is still based off of a bleeding heart dove, and she’s the softest of all three!

Okay so like… Percy is an outcast. Visually, and literally. He swears he’s not jealous. Obviously, there’s the markings shared with Sally, but his colours are all from somewhere else. Small changes were made to his design!!

Guys I looked at Paul’s canon design after drawing and like… that’s NOT how I imagined him. There’s no way. I forgot what Sally’s eye colour is, but we ball!!

The way most autism literature describes "literal interpretation" is often not at all similar to how I experience it. Teenage me even thought I couldn't be autistic because I've always been able to learn metaphors easily.

In fact, I love wordplay of all kinds. Teenage me was fascinated to learn all the types of figurative language there are in poetry and literature.

But paperwork and questionnaires are hard, because there's so much they don't state clearly. Or they don't leave room for enough nuance.

"List all the jobs you've had, with start and end dates." What if I don't remember the exact day or month? Is the year enough?

"Have you been suffering from blurred vision?" Well, if I take off my glasses the whole world is blurred, but I'm fairly sure that's not what the intake form at the optometrist is asking.

Or the infamous (and infuriatingly stereotypical) "Would you rather go to a library or a party?" What sort of party? Where? Who's there? I work at a library. Am I currently at the library for work or pleasure? Does it have a good collection?

It's not common figures of speech that confound me. It's ambiguity, in situations that aren't supposed to be ambiguous.

If you’re an artist, I encourage you to make your art completely and utterly human.

let it have little imperfections, put a little touch to it that only you can give. Show those people obsessed with AI “art” that a robot’s garbage can never compare to what human hands can make.

I have synesthesia, a neurological condition that causes me to interpret sensory experiences as shapes and colors. Lately I’ve been incorporating it into my artwork.

No AI will be able to perfectly mimic what I experience (and if it’s smart enough to do that it should be used for something more useful than stealing art :p).

go play around with your artstyle, make some messy and weird drawings. Make something only you can create.
