I often wonder how cal and andre would have developed if they hadn't met each other, and It All Started in German Class is the product of that reflection.

Now to be clear, in canon it is stated that they did have friends other than each other.

However, in this hypothetical world without one another, I think Calvin would only have Rachel. He doesn't seem like someone who'd be the ultimate target of bullying but he definitely wouldn't have a ton of friends either. I think he'd be the butt of some jokes. He'd be easy to laugh about. I just think that Calvin is pretty reserved *not timid* because he doesn't like to share a lot about himself to others. I think he'd share some things with Rachel, but in my opinion he would be quite solitary, quite in his head, falling behind in classes, disorganised.

I think Andre would feel lonely despite having some friends. I think he'd have sports-friends and school-friends, but no real hanging out with him for an entire saturday friends. I think he'd feel a little different perhaps because his parents are older than his classmates'. I don't think he'd have much of a relationship with his brother because of their age gap. In my opinion, I think he would be a little bit of a control freak trying to find some purpose in a life he finds dull.

That's just what I think of course.

I started documenting for my 3rd long-form caldre fic a while ago (4-6 months now), will need to properly map out the chapters etc but I started writing the first chapter already

it'll be a country boys caldre au. I know the zero day fandom doesn't really care much about AUs if they stray too much from the canon (and i myself don't know why i like writing aus so much lol), but expect some horseback riding, shooting guns etc etc and a pretty slow build. It's probably not going to be slow burn though hehehe.
