23. My Personal Thoughts
I think the DT crew had the mindset: “Okay, we’ll have them act like girlfriends but we won’t actually call them girlfriends.”
In the finale, Lena says to Webby, “Besides, you’ve already got sisters”, referring to herself and Violet. Moments later, Webby says to Lena that May and June are her sisters.
This had to be the crew’s way of doing what Disney asked of them: making it “clear” that Webby and Lena see each other as sisters, when in all honesty, I don’t think that’s what their relationship was building up to. The crew then subtly retracts the statement/idea that they see each other as sisters. Because now that Webby has May and June, she realizes the way she cares about them isn’t the same way she cares about Lena.
Bottom line, I am fully convinced that Weblena was meant to be canon/endgame.
