The book on her desk was a worn copy of Little Women, a muggle story she enjoyed. It was this story that had made her want siblings but as far as she knew she had none. Beside the story book were her Potions texts and homework; she was skilled in Potions and had taken it to NEWT levels, unsure if she’d need it or not when she graduated. Her confusion had her taking three classes more than most of her other seventh years but she had to cover more bases than most, or so she thought. When she heard someone clear their throat she looked up, curiosity and trepidation filling her gut.        “Yes?”

“your chair is making noises and they’re annoying. make it stop,” henry spoke in a low voice, not even looking up from the transfiguration essay he was writing at that moment.

“What? I was running late.” She mused, carrying a random bowl from the Great Hall. “I’ll return it… eventually. All in all, the issue here isn’t why I have a bowl but why don’t you have one.” Kat let out a sigh as she continued her breakfast. “I mean… you can talk while I finish… or stare… what’s it gonna be?”

“Charming, honestly,” Henry looked at the bowl in Kat’s hands with a visible disgust on his face.

“I want to do something fun tonight. So are you gonna join me, or be a bitch about it and say no?”

“Yes, I’m going to bitch about it because we have a practice tomorrow, Weasley,” Henry grumbled and rolled his eyes.

“You’re the smartest person I know. You can do it.” He believed anything was achievable if the hard work was put in and didn’t care that Henry would probably roll his eyes and find that stupidly optimistic. He nodded and watched how the simple song was played. “I think I can do this one.” Except the first key Mercer pressed was the wrong one and he pressed the next few around it to figure out which he had to start the song with.

“Thanks, Mercer,” Henry spoke with a tiny smile, not really wanting to upset his best friend with his negativity. That was something he’d leave for when he was all alone again. “All right, let’s try this one,” he chuckled at Mercie’s attempt and then took his hand, ignoring the little flutter in his tummy as he did so and then put it on the right keys. “You really only need one hand to play this,” he hummed as he put his hand on top of Mercer’s so that they could now play the song together and started playing again. “Does that help?”

henry took a lazy look at the bat and then at the goal and then let out a heavy, deep, overdramatic sigh. why did his team make him question his sanity one practice at a time? “next time try to aim at the other players or travers, will ya?”

And pretty sounding.” He didn’t want anything that sounded sad.

“i can’t just pass them, i need to get O’s in each and every one of them,” henry sighed, aware that the expectations that he had set for himself were impossible but he ignored that lone sane brain cell in his mind. “how about mary had a little lamb first to get you familiarised with the feeling, hmmm?” he asked and started playing the first few notes

I wish I could play…” He looked at his mate, his next question obvious since it wasn’t the first time he’s asked it. “Are you ever going to teach me how?”

henry merely shrugged his shoulders and looked at his best friend with a small smile. “NEWTS are coming up,” he spoke with a small smile. “thank you, it’s nice to know you’re still my number one fan,” he teased and oh god, how he wished mercer was henry’s #1 fan in everything. “well, i already told you i’m not a good teacher but let’s try,” he said and patted the seat next to him.
