Title: No Shadow Taller Than Our Souls Author: khasael (for hd_fan_fair 2013) Rating: PG Summary: Auror Potter and Unspeakable Malfoy team up to investigate a series of missing persons, and it soon becomes apparent that Dementors are involved. Despite their initial misgivings, Harry and Draco find that they need each other's help, in more ways than one. Warnings/Content Notes: (highlight for details): *angst (should not be surprising, given the subject matter); brief, non-detailed mentions of long-past torture & suicide situations (unnamed non-canon characters); similar mentions of Holocaust (concentration camp) happenings and allusions to similar situations* Word Count: ~41000 My thoughts: Lovely case/mystery!fic. Now if only I hadn't known that the culprit was Dementors from reading the summary, I'd tear my hair out guessing who the culprit might be. The romance was slowly built, and the ending was soooo sweet <3

The Dream of Oracle

Title: The Dream of Oracle Artist: raitala (for hd_fan_fair 2013) Rating: G Summary: Basically, as per the prompt: Harry keeps having the same recurring and haunting dream, every night, over and over again. Desperate, he consults The Dream Oracle by Inigo Imago. The book leads him to an enchanted, overgrown Manor in Wiltshire. There seems to be no one here but the dream tells Harry that somewhere in the seemingly deserted Manor house, Draco Malfoy is waiting for him. My thoughts: The colours and the expressions of Draco and Harry are just fantastic! The atmosphere, Harry's body language and Draco's gaze... everything is really deep. And it really, really fits with the story. I mean, they're not collaborating, but if you read 'And the Clock Keeps Ticking' (which I recced here), you'll understand what I mean. They're from the same prompt, but they really, really fit, I couldn't help but squee seeing these two entries. I recommend you to read and see both the art and story, they seriously complement each other!

Keep Your Shirt On

Title: Keep Your Shirt On Artist: dustmouth (for hd_fan_fair 2013) Rating: PG Warnings/Content Notes: I promise I will never, EVER try and draw a house elf ever again. The damage may already be permanent, and for that, I'm sorry Summary: Harry inherits a house with too many pests, and Draco Malfoy is a young man with entirely too much time on his hands. . My thoughts: I don't know what the artist means by not going to draw any House Elves again, because Kreacher looks so 'Kreacher' there and it's just perfect! And Draco and Harry's expressions are just so right, and the ending made me squee so much!

Summary: Harry and Draco are having a secret affair when McGonagall ropes the 8th year into a camping trip up the scottish mountains to help them bond. Things don't turn out quite as planned.

Warnings/Content Notes: b&w art, incredibly slow animation, text that might be hard to read, minimalist piano music

My thoughts: So very well done. The details, the shadows, everything was so well drawn! And I found it amusing that Draco's every complain only made Harry like him more and more! Aww...

And the Clock Keeps Ticking

Title: And the Clock Keeps Ticking Author: nherizu (for hd_fan_fair 2013) Pairing(s): Harry/Draco, Ron/Hermione, Neville/Hannah, Ginny/OMC Warnings/Content Notes: Minor character death, a few minor OCs and repeated use of a strong potion (but only for pain relief). Word Count: about 50.000. Summary: Harry Potter knows three things. One, Voldemort can still cause chaos even after his death. Two, Draco Malfoy is one of the last two missing survivors. Three, Harry’s creepy dreams every night are the only key to finding Malfoy. And yet ... maybe Harry shouldn’t be so sure, for the truth about Malfoy is not what he thinks it is. My thoughts: Fabulous story. Very well thought out, complex and emotional. A story of finding and growing love, hope and trust. A story of sacrifice. The race against time and the mystery were so suspenseful, and the characterisation was very well done. Sometimes I laughed reading Harry's thoughts, but then I nearly cried a minute later. So, Voldemort left a curse to kill all the former Death Eaters, and Draco was missing. Harry tried to follow his dreams to find Draco, and then he found out that there was something terribly wrong about Draco.

On a Clear Day

Title: On a Clear Day Author: saras_girl Word count: 43926 Rating: R Warning: Language, OC, sexual content Summary: Draco Malfoy is waiting for his real life to begin, and it appears that he’s not the only one. Coffee, charity, and the wisdom of the elderly. My thoughts: Harry's is broken after the war, he refuses to come out of the safety of his house. Draco needs Harry to show up in a social event, and he has to bring Harry so he won't lose his job. This is a fun story, with a funny, talking cupboard and a Draco who sings in order to make Harry open his door. Amusing but also touching, especially when Harry tries to face the world again after so long.

Title: Vanishing Cabinets Author: romaine24 Rating: NC-17 Warnings: Dubious consent Word count: 17,800 Summary: Take one Wizarding Family Values politician who has a secret life, and add one Auror who detests discrimination of any type, but becomes a bit obsessed with said politician, and you have enough sparks to ignite a Beltane fire. My thoughts: Incredibly emotional. Draco is gay, but he can't be gay, he has to build the Malfoy name, and he almost succeeds. Now he only needs to prove that he's all things great, and marries Astoria. But Harry can't let him do that.

Summary: Eleven years after the war, Harry shows up at Draco's home, asking him for help for his son James who suffers from a rare magical disease. He needs a blood donor to survive, and only Draco is a match.

My thoughts: It's so sweet, I loved how Draco slowly figuring out that James was his son, and the ending was really good. I read this a long time ago and still remember it until now because it's just that's good :>

Title: Now The Shining Sun Is Up Author: lettered Summary: Someone at the Ministry has it in for former Death Eaters. Draco Malfoy launches his political career as a rebel. Harry thinks it’s all a laugh. Rating: PG-13 Word Count: ~23,000 Warning(s): Language? Fun poked at historical figures. My thoughts: I want more! This is gorgeous, I really loved this Draco. He rebelled because the Ministry treated all pureblood unfairly after the war, and he wrote newspapers. Gosh I couldn't get enough this Draco. I just wished this were longer!

Endurance

Title: Endurance Author: bgd_thrifty Rating: R Warnings: Mpreg!Harry, Postnatal depression, severe postnatal psychosis, domestic violence, severe child endangerment, suicidal/homicidal ideations, dark subject matter Word Count: ~6000 Summary: After the steady deterioration and eventual breakdown of his relationship, Harry finds it hard coping alone with his 'bundle of joy'. My thoughts: very dark, very depressing, and yet I couldn't stop reading. It hurt, the thing that happened between Draco and Harry. But it was also refreshing amongst the many fluffy fics. It's a lovely piece.

The Colour of Snow

Title: The Colour of Snow Author: creepylicious (for hd_fan_fair 2013) Rating: Hard R Warnings/Content Notes: vampires, sex, dark-ish Word Count: 3,722 Summary: Summary: I think I can call this a modern vampire story. In which Harry is severe injured and Draco an Ministry experiment/captive. “They’re using Imperius on you!” “You sound so shocked, Potter. It’s rather cute.” “But it’s forbidden!” “It seems they make exceptions if you are a vampire, a former Death Eater, or if the Ministry thinks the ends justify the means. Lucky me, all three factors apply.”  My thoughts: Really an interesting idea, a world where vampire is treated unfairly by the Ministry, and Harry tries hard to remember that he needs to save Draco...it holds an interesting premise. Only I need more, the ending is a cliff hanger. But it leaves a strong impression, I guess.

Draco Malfoy and the Tome of Entrapment

Title: Draco Malfoy and the Tome of Entrapment Author: Sabershadowkat Rating: PG-13 Summary: Draco has been obsessed with Harry Potter since the beginning, but how did his hatred turn into his protecting Harry above even his own safety? One thing's for sure: being trapped in a book with the person you secretly loved wasn't a picnic.

My thoughts: I don't think this needs to be recced any more, it's one of the fandom classics! But I really love it that I just have to bookmark it. Animagus Draco, Harry, Neville.. gosh, this is so much fun to read. And the plot is great, too!

My Notes: I don't usually read dark fic, but this one made me hooked and couldn't put it down. Harry was kind of fucked up in the head, and he captured Draco and Pansy. Later, he fucked Draco, and believed that what they have was love...

Title: No Other Superstars Author: lettered Rating: NC-17 Summary: Draco is sort of fucked up. Harry is sort of fucked up and really really famous. Together they fight crime! Not in this fic, though. In this fic they have sex. My Notes: I really loved this. I loved stories that deal with asexuality, and the author could write it so well! This is mainly bottom!Harry, but there's bottom!Draco implication, too.

Title: Very Important Meeting Author: icmezzo Rating: NC-17 Word Count: 6k Warnings: public sex Summary: Harry’s head is in the Floo but Draco’s is in the gutter. My Notes: Hilarious, Harry is so cute and Luna is pure win here. I lol-ed so hard reading this. It's so good, trust me! :D

When the Songbird Stopped Singing

Title: When the Songbird Stopped Singing Author: nherizu Rating: R Word count: 37.500 (approx.) Warning: Language, emotional and behavioural issues, eating disorder, angst (but with lots of fluff, too), mild violence, a brief mention of (very) minor character death(s). Summary: Shortly after the war, Draco Malfoy wakes up with a new understanding, and Harry Potter needs firmer ground to walk on. Unfortunately, life is never easy, especially with the burdens of N.E.W.T.s looming closer. As Draco struggles to maintain his sanity, Harry is back to his old routine—stalking Draco. My Notes: one of my HD Smoochfest 2013 favourites. See, Draco was broken after the war, and he shut his emotions to protect himself. And then came Harry, who refused to leave Draco alone because Harry himself was lost and broken. So they both tried to move on, and the process was so adorable and emotional. Truly a great read.

Two Wands Make a Right

Title: Two Wands Make a Right Author: dannyfranx Rating: PG 13 Word Count: 21200 Summary: Harry's wand is playing up and Hermione thinks she knows the answer, but why does she have to be right all the time, why does Draco Malfoy have to be so god damn difficult and why is he wearing his tie backwards? My Notes: I really loved Hermione's role in this. And the way the boys interacted, the slow build, the way Harry tried to find the answer, they were all so endearing.
