What if I, a delulu wallpaper shipper, rewrote Cassandra to be cold to Daniel because she's terrified of the fact she likes him and purposefully tries to push him away because she hates the idea of liking someone like him? After all, the way she sees it, she's better than everyone,especially better than Daniel, she can't like someone who's clearly beneath her. What if I rewrote her to be doing a background check on him as a way to make herself like him less, to find a reason to dislike him, especially given the fact he's friends with a girl who almost vanished her, but it still doesn't work, even when she tries to convince herself he's just like his parents?
A lil silly DanCass idea number 1, I imagine that Cassandra kinda gives her plants some posh old money names like Clemente, Montgomery, Evangeline, Lycidas, etc. and when she starts getting closer with Daniel (on more friendlier terms that is) she would introduce him to all of her plants and make him remember them all by names.
And Daniel one day would ask her to let him name at least one plant and he'd call it something like Steve, Kyle or Josh (or Megatron 300 Destroyer of Universes and Galaxies.) She never let him name her plants ever again.
Silly DanCass idea/headcanon number 2, Daniel absolutely adores Lyncus (Cassandra's kneazle). Loved him since day one. Same can't be said for Lyncus, Daniel had to pass the cat check first. He very soon passed though, his pats and scratchies now always accepted. Everytime Daniel would come over to Cassandra's place, the first thing he does right after seeing Cassandra and her parents is to look for Lyncus and just spend hours playing with him. Just two cats bonding together.
Pretty much the "my boyfriend loves my cat more than me situation".(/jjj)
Silly DanCass idea number 3 (not necessarily romantic this time) but also just a headcanon of mine in general.
I hc that Daniel's middle name is Jason and Cassandra's is Marie.
And I kinda like to think that for a long time, these two were the only ones who knew each other's middle names and they didn't know/remember anyone else's, just each other's. It began with Cassandra casually calling Daniel "Daniel Jason Page" when she was taunting him and then Daniel started calling her "Cassandra Marie Vole" in response. Then, they started calling each other like this in public and everyone was like "?????? your middle name is Jason/Marie????"
I think it's no secret that I really enjoy writing toxic/unhealthy ship dynamics, because I find them fun to explore.
That being said, I'm a healthy DanCass truther. Them being toxic is a possibility, however, not in my book. The fights may not be uncommon, but all healthy couples have their arguments once in while.
I think that after some slowburn as the two find common ground and, although at first reluctantly, become friends, they'd realize just how much they are alike. An ambitious overachiever with trust issues will understand another ambitious overachiever with trust issues. The two could learn to trust, by trusting one another, to forgive, let go of the past that's holding them and unlearn holding grudges, to see beyond the narrow minded perspectives they had when they were younger. And that's exactly what makes them work in my opinion.
Realized that I haven't yet shown my little gen beta DanCass womb parasytes aka Pole children here yet so uh, here they are ^^
DanCass always gave me "more than one kid, with at least one girl" family vibes. Idk Dan just gives me girl dad vibes lol same for Cass having a daughter dfshdfhj. Initially I only wrote 2 kids but then I came up with the third so here we are jdsdls. Writing DanCass beyond their Hogwarts years, as adults with their own business and parents is actually super fun and I especially like exploring their dynamic w their kids (I wanna go into depth about it someday hehe)
First is Daphne! She was the first DanCass kid I've created (you've probably seen some of my concept art for her, she's changed a lot from her initial concept but thats a topic for another day)
She's the firstborn, the eldest daughter, the Hufflepuff prefect, daddy's girl, her parents' pride and joy. While most different from her parents personality wise out of the 3 kids, she's still much alike them! She inherited their better traits, although she does show occasional bluntness and stubbornness. She can be rather bossy sometimes, eldest kids things.
Much like her mom, a part veela, almost a copy of her (most Vole family women look pretty alike) except for her face. She may only be 1/16 veela yet the blonde hair still holds strong, although darker than her mom's. Her veela charm is there, but it's weaker than Cassandra's. Rather than attract her peers romantically (although not to say she doesn't have some crushing on her), her charm makes people more trustworthy of her, wanting to be her friend, which usually isn't an issue as she's quite friendly!
Despite being clearly beloved by many, she still has struggles with her self image and perfectionism. She knows many expect a lot from her, from her classmates, to her teachers, to her parents, who she doesn't want to dissapoint (so she thinks, that is) and it's not an easy thing to deal with. She can handle it though... Maybe.
Next is Carmel! Don't get fooled by his appearance tho, that's a straight guy.
The second born child, the only son, momma's boy and the most like his parents personality wise... In all the worst ways possible! Daniel and Cassandra thought Daphne was a hard to handle as a kid (first experience,after all), but she's an absolute angel compared to this attention seeking little demon.
He claims he knows his worth, but many would argue he's just an arrogant, standoffish snob. Always wearing expensive clothes, never missing an opportunity to show off his achievements and talents. Still, people can't deny he's certainly very talented and capable...and handsome.
He's determined to make his parents proud of him. He knows they are, but more wouldn't hurt. He's a great duellist, a talented pianist and dancer, what's not to be proud of? He's not a bad kid by any means,, he's just...difficult to deal with. DanCass tend to get upset with him more than with his sisters, it's a struggle to raise a kid who's got a temper and a character like his, especially when he reminds them so much of their younger selves, not always in a good way.
Last but not least, Emma Rose! Unlike her older siblings, her name was chosen by Daniel...and it shows.
The third and the youngest child. Was the easiest out of all three kids to handle, DanCass were more experienced with kids at that point, but aside from that EmRose was the calmest kid they had.
She always dreamed of going to Hogwarts one day, to do magic just like her older siblings, but the time went on and no magic had awakened. She's just a late bloomer, surely. And yet... No magic by the age of 11. No letter received. She's a squib, she's told. Pfff, nonsense, that can't be right, surely it can't be that there weren't some wizards that unlocked their powers after 11 years of age, right?
While she spends the most time with her parents out of all 3 children, since she lives with them all year long (essentially almost like an only child), she often feels like they never understand her struggles. Her parents love her dearly but their words never are enough to convince her about not needing magic to be part of the family, especially not when her older brother wouldn't stop teasing her about it. At least, her aunt Esme gets her. But she's not like Esme. She'll get her powers, she will do magic one day!... Or so she tries to convince herself.
