I am 1 in 4 women that will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.β Being able to acknowledge this myself and share it publicly is really only possible because I recently escaped. I left my marriage last month.β .β This drawing is part of a series of images I made for the @enchanteddoll contest in 2015. I don't think at that time I fully acknowledged what was happening to me. I'm sure the same applies to many women out there living with abuse.β .β I want to say something to you. If you are out there suffering. Don't give up. If you are out there dreaming of a better life for yourself, dreaming of your freedom and safety and happiness - don't give up. Those dreams are not dreams - that IS you, that IS your future. You can make it. It will feel impossible. it is NOT impossible.β .β The last couple of weeks have really made me want to reach out and help other women. The only way I know how to do that right now is by adding my voice. I know how much it helped me to read about the experiences of other women. So I'm reaching out. If you're reading this and feel that it applies to you, please find the courage to open up to someone. Find someone to talk to - you can talk to me if you want to. By talking about it you'll hopefully find help, but more importantly you'll find your resolve. .β The full concept behind this drawing can be read here: http://www.enchanteddoll.com/the-final-roundβ .β .β .β #Π―ΠΠ΅Π₯ΠΎΡΠ΅Π»Π°Π£ΠΌΠΈΡΠ°ΡΡ #domesticviolence #conceptart #inkdrawing #illustrationart #traditionalart #drawing #artwork #abuse #enchanteddoll #womensupportingwomen #empowerment #humanrights #endviolenceβ https://www.instagram.com/p/B0UAidlAiCE/?igshid=1mqj0f48ffpzr
