"I see you got quite good in your role as Headchef, i came to check up on you but it seems it's not needed" the old man cleared his throat, feeling still iffy to let the youth take over. "Either way, i am currently free and wanted to ask if you need help with anything..." he wanted to feel useful doing just anything to keep the boredom away he had ever since his retirement.
“Well, Streusen-sama,”said Absinthe as she was happy to receive advice from an expert,”When it comes to selection I want to make sure any unsavory types don’t get in. Because I know that some people in the underworld could come through the kitchen and try to spy. I want to know how to do countermeasures.”
Absinthe looked forlornly at the retired cook as his caretaker gently got him onto the boat and waved,”Goodbye, Streusen-sama. I hope you get better soon.” She then turned back to look over the plans for the new recruits, while taking the older man’s advice. Even though he was not as he was in his prime, his instruction was still needed in this time of change. She was sure that both Chipotle and Buche would be happy to have that kind of advise if they asked for it.
Later the same day:
Streusen sat on his bed, holding a snail in his hand, dialing the number of Absinthe. Mondee was giving him the okay to attend the interview after nagging her a little bit. The elderly chef saw it as triumph and smiled contently as he waited for the new Headchef to pick up. His legs were feeling better now and the syringe he got gave him a little boost in spirits so to speak. Looking at the clock at his bedside stand, he was just in time, over an hour before the interview.
“Hello Absinthe, it‘s me. I will accompany you for the interview, tell Bouche and Chipotle too, i am sure they will be thrilled to know!” he stated proudly, leaning back slightly.
