She offers a hand, eyes crinkled in amusement as she gazes at you though the scope over her working eye. "Name's Scythe, lil' thing. Though I do go by Rifle at times... I hope we can get... well aquainted."

It's late. Very late. Shuriken has been avoiding going to the beach, let alone swimming after that incident with that Stanger a few day ago...

Of course he can't keep himself away from the water for too long. That was his biggest fumble. He should have waited- he should have listened to his gut-

Thats what he tells himself as he gets tangled in a stray net left behind by an irresponsible fisher.

That what he tells himself when he's washed up on shore.

And that's what he tells himself as that stranger from before leans over his tangled form. "Howdy, Angel Fish... I didn't think I'd find ya' here... especially like this."

Her smirk is wide, fangs on display. It isn't a sweet smile... It's nothing like the ones she gave him at the cafe, trying to disarm him and keep him lax.

It's much wider, and sharper. A claw pokes the scales on his cheek though the woven net

Shuriken, or as hes better known right now, Shurifin was flapping around slashing and struggling in a net. This was embarrassing even for him.. He flopped around and squirmed trying to fight his way out, but the more he seemed to swipe the more he seemed to get infinitely more tied up and tangled.. He really should be more adept than this! He was a renowned ninja who also happened to be a merphernal, its surly not that difficult to be freed from a stray net!

He squeaks and turned slowly as he heard a scarily familiar voice, freezing up as he stared pathetically at the inphernal looming over him. This was embarrassing.. And very bad. Nobody should see him like THIS!! Shurifin whined and shied away trying to wriggle back towards the shoreline, away from this very scary looking stranger. Whoever she was she clearly didn't have good intentions..

" UMM... Its.. Its not what it looks like! I just got stuck! "

He freaked out a little, not trusting that rather wicked smile of hers. Shurifins tail lashed and slapped against the sand further pushing against the thick ropes of the net... He should really go ocean cleaning more often before this happens again.. The sad and scared merphernal stared at her, going immediately to begging and pleading in his rather useless struggles.

" P-Please dont tell anyone you saw me like this!! Its- Its not supposed to be known! We're only meant to be myths! "

" Please dont eat me... "

She barks out a laugh, taken off guard. "Eat ya'-? Now why would I do that, Angel?"

She roughly grabs his face through the net, tilting it to the side to observe his... 'new' features. "Naw... yer' far too interestin' tah be doin' something as... wasteful as that."

The waves splash nearby, so close yet so far from him. The sand is getting under his scales... Ugh.

Straightening, she slips her coat off, tossing it further onto the sand. Grabbing the net, she drags him further on land. Further from his escape. "The Family doesn't like waste... ya sure can feed the birds yer rotten meat but they get sick off fish."

She says this almost absently, keeping any eye on him as to not drag his face into the sand.

Shurifin frowned and squirmed, shaking his head attempting to bite at her hand for getting too close. He wasn't a fan of being dragged around and observed like some strange spectacle... He wasn't different from any other inphernal! Except he was.. And he knew that.. And he hated it. Shurifin was a myth proven true, not a real inphernal like everyone else. But at least he wasn't becoming seafood, not this time anyways.

He sobbed quietly looking back to the ocean as he was dragged away, obviously having no signs of leaving or getting away so easily. Shurifin didn't like wherever this was going.. Why did he always have to answer to his instincts? Why didn't he just stay on land?? The sea was just far too alluring, it was his home. Or at least.. Its supposed to be.

" I DONT WANNA BECOME BIRD FOOD EITHER?! Please, just tell me what you want and I'll give it to you! Honest! "

She tuts, setting him down. "Calm down. Ya' ain't becomin' fish food anytime soon, Angel Fish."

Reaching into her coat, she pulls out a switch blade, flicking it open with a smooth motion. Bending down, she begins to cut at the ropes. "Yer more useful alive then dead."

It's tense as they fall away one by one, freeing him. Before he can scramble away, she grabs him. Her grip is tight, claws about to break skin as she smiles. "I need ya' tah... answer a few questions of mine..."

Her eyes curl up. The pit of dread in his stomach grows deeper. "Understood?"

" Okay... "

He didn't trust her, but did hope that she was right. Shurifin stayed perfectly still as he was cut away and freed from the net that he had been trapped in finally. He didn't want to be stuck there forced to face her... Thought it seems that either way he'll be stuck here answering for himself for a long time.

Shurifin shifted a little but didnt make an effort to struggle or fight. He knew that he likely wouldn't win this fight even if he tried... The merphernal also didn't want to garter any attention, being forced to be passive and silent lest someone come over and see him like this.

" Uh.. Okay, sure. Ask me anything.. "

At least he wasn't getting kidnapped. he'd rather be interrogated than dragged away to be someones house pet or prized possession.

Walking back to her discarded coat, she picks it up, eye still on him. The coat is tossed to him to cover up from the cold.

Her switchblade is slid into her pocket, tucked away from prying hands.

She waits for him to cover up before settling on the sand a few paces away, just out of reach of a possible attack. She knew he wouldn't win a fight against her, but he could get a nasty hit in.

"We have a... stray Family member, they're quite the slippery one... always out in the waves before we can get ahold of them..."

She nonchalantly looks at her nails, languid despite the fact that the air is so thick you could cut it with a knife.

"We kept wonderin' how they would get out so deep so quickly..."

She looks up from her nails and back up at him.

"Then... lil' ol me... stumbled upon you."

Shurifin wraps the coat over his shoulders, not wanting to fully wear it thanks to his arms fins and wet skin making trying to wear anything long sleeved rather uncomfortable. He glanced back to the shore for just a moment before looking back to the stranger seemingly not understanding what she was getting at at first..

" I... Dont think I follow? "

It took him a minute to finally click, head fins fluttering lightly as he clocked who she meant. Shurifin hadn't exactly met many other merphernals besides himself and his sister... And one other person to. Shurifin played dumb. He didn't want to immediately assume something, especially with how tense this was. He couldn't risk making a mistake.

" I havent met anyone whos like me, if thats what you're asking? I dont really go around talking to people when I go swimming... Its... Not very safe to go out when so many people are around who could spot me. "

That's a lie. Even if she hadn't known already about Shurifin and Diver conversation on that little dock, she sees how his shifts uncomfortably, glancing behind her to that dock.

She sighs, deciding to... let that lie slip past her. Stirring a huff about someone being protective over one of her Family members isn't gonna do her any good here. "Nah... not quite, Angel Fish."

She shifts, leaning forward. "We need tah know more about yer... biology."

Her voice gains the sweet quality back in the Cafe, unnerving considering the situation, especially when she tilts her head and her smile sharpens. "I could take ya back home and Doc could open ya up.... but I think we can both agree that'd be a shame."

He hated how much of a bad liar he was... He was a top tier ninja! Shurifin should be better at intimidations than this! He seriously needed to get a grip, deciding to resort to keeping his eyes between her and himself for now. At least then he wont look so guilty...

Shurifin whined and grimaced at the thought of being vivisected, pulling the jacket tighter around himself protectively as he inched backwards ever so slightly. That was... A hard question. He couldn't exactly share nor give many tips about how to really 'become' the way he is.. Shurifin tried his best though. Anything to not be dragged away to who knows where never to be seen again.

" Oh, I see.. Well I.. Spawned like this? I was spawned in the ocean from an abandoned sunken city, Im afraid I dont really know how I work. I was made this was I guess. B-But I do turn back to inphernal if I dry out! Im sort of water activated? Besides that I dont think you can really become a merphernal? At least not by choice. "

He nervously shrugged, hoping that answer was good enough. It was the truth at least..? Somewhat?

She hums. So someone forced Diver to become a merphernal? Hm... what differences are there between Mers who are spawned that way and those who've turned...

Does Diver also turn into a mer when getting in contact with water...?

She mulls over that thought as she gets up. Shurifin watches her take her canteen off her hip. She saunters to the water filling it up before making her way back.

He sputters when she splashes the water on him. "Well then, We can't have ya dryin' up on me then."

He didn't exactly appreciate being splashed, blinking a few times and shaking the droplets out of his face before going back to staying still. At least it didnt hurt? It is still annoying to have water thrown at you merphernal or otherwise... Shurifin started to get a little more comfortable, slowly realizing that besides her intimidating look and tone... He wasn't seemingly going to be hurt or in any real danger.

" Yeah... So is there.. Anything? Or um.. Can I leave? "

A stupid question, but one he still wanted to know. Even if he wasn't going to get hurt he still didnt want to hang around someone with such morbid curiosity on how his rare species worked... The next worse thing to being turned into sushi was to be a point of experimentation. He didn't exactly want to become a science project... And especially not for someone he didn't know who was also seemingly evil.

She gives him a long stare as water drips still drips down his body. "No."

Huffing, she tilts her hat back, looking him over again. "The bigwigs back home wanted me tah bring you in... but fishes don't last very long in the desert.."

She reaches into her pants pocket pulling out a note. Unfolding it she looks over the list of... questions they compiled. A few she answered already just by watching him, alongside the few facts he's let slip.

"Hm. A few questions and then ya can... go."

She doesn't mention the fact that he'll still be put under watch. Such an interesting asset...

Scythe mulls over a though in her mind. His sister and him would look good in teal.... It would also be nice to have Diver some... similar friends.

"I'll rapid fire em at ya'... the dock workers'll be coming up soon."

{ She smiles, giving a small wave, holding the reins of her vulture, boone. }

“ Hello, my dear..! “

{ She speaks quietly, glancing around as to make sure nobody is spying or watching in on them. }

Scythe lights up, surprised yet delighted to see Crimson. "Love- wha-?"

Scythe gets up swiftly, leaving her seat in a hurry. Crossing the room in a few paces to the window separating Crimson and Scythe she pushes the window the rest of the way open.

She peers out, eyes darting around before she turns back to her secret lover. "What are ya' doin' here? Ya should be back with the other Wranglers-"

Her voice is a harsh whisper, not wanting the two of them to get caught. Her fingers grips the window sill tightly. This isn't like their usual meetings, tucked away safe and hidden within the cliffs. Instead, Crimson is practically in the middle of Church territory.

{ She glances away. }

“ I checked around, not a spec in sight. Is it always this clear around here at night? “

{ She murmurs, chuckling silently. }

{ She gives a smile. }

“ Go where we normally meet. I’ve got somethin’ for ya’

The acolyte sputters, denying her words. There should be people on watch right now! Even if there is no on watching she shouldn't risk something like this-

"I- there are watchers and-"

She pauses as Crimson giggles. Oh. Oh she's missed that laugh.

Her lips part, watching Crimson preparing to take off. "...be safe."

Scythe doesn't want to have to break out her lover from the depths of the Church again... That wasn't pretty for either of them.

A flash of memory, of blood soaked hands pressing against bleeding wounds and whispering prayers as they shakily bandaged one another up.

Scythe tense, watches her fly away. The pit in her stomach fades and she sighs. "...Seems I need tah talk to a few... slackers later..."

{ Boone lands. Crimson hops from his back, patting his side and cooing at him. The creature lets out a sound that can only be described as a happy one. }

{ Now she sits up against the side of the cliff, patting her chaps pocket, making sure the gift was still settled in there. It was. }

{ Now she waits to see her lover. }

It doesn't take as long as she thought it would as the sound of swooping wings fill the air and the crunch of rocks and dirt follow swiftly.

A small heft and the familiar sounds of Scythe's spurs reach her.

Scythe rounds the corner, eye peeled for Crimson, and anyone else. She Crimson she brightens, quickening her pace. "Oh-! Yer alright... thank goodness."

Crimson is quickly Wrangled into a tight hug and squeezed.

She mulls over that thought as she gets up. Shurifin watches her take her canteen off her hip. She saunters to the water filling it up before making her way back.

He sputters when she splashes the water on him. "Well then, We can't have ya dryin' up on me then."

She peers out, eyes darting around before she turns back to her secret lover. "What are ya' doin' here? Ya should be back with the other Wranglers-"

Her voice is a harsh whisper, not wanting the two of them to get caught. Her fingers grips the window sill tightly. This isn't like their usual meetings, tucked away safe and hidden within the cliffs. Instead, Crimson is practically in the middle of Church territory.

Shuriken, or as hes better known right now, Shurifin was flapping around slashing and struggling in a net. This was embarrassing even for him.. He flopped around and squirmed trying to fight his way out, but the more he seemed to swipe the more he seemed to get infinitely more tied up and tangled.. He really should be more adept than this! He was a renowned ninja who also happened to be a merphernal, its surly not that difficult to be freed from a stray net!

He squeaks and turned slowly as he heard a scarily familiar voice, freezing up as he stared pathetically at the inphernal looming over him. This was embarrassing.. And very bad. Nobody should see him like THIS!! Shurifin whined and shied away trying to wriggle back towards the shoreline, away from this very scary looking stranger. Whoever she was she clearly didn't have good intentions..

" UMM... Its.. Its not what it looks like! I just got stuck! "

He freaked out a little, not trusting that rather wicked smile of hers. Shurifins tail lashed and slapped against the sand further pushing against the thick ropes of the net... He should really go ocean cleaning more often before this happens again.. The sad and scared merphernal stared at her, going immediately to begging and pleading in his rather useless struggles.

She roughly grabs his face through the net, tilting it to the side to observe his... 'new' features. "Naw... yer' far too interestin' tah be doin' something as... wasteful as that."

The waves splash nearby, so close yet so far from him. The sand is getting under his scales... Ugh.

Straightening, she slips her coat off, tossing it further onto the sand. Grabbing the net, she drags him further on land. Further from his escape. "The Family doesn't like waste... ya sure can feed the birds yer rotten meat but they get sick off fish."

She says this almost absently, keeping any eye on him as to not drag his face into the sand.

Shurifin frowned and squirmed, shaking his head attempting to bite at her hand for getting too close. He wasn't a fan of being dragged around and observed like some strange spectacle... He wasn't different from any other inphernal! Except he was.. And he knew that.. And he hated it. Shurifin was a myth proven true, not a real inphernal like everyone else. But at least he wasn't becoming seafood, not this time anyways.

He sobbed quietly looking back to the ocean as he was dragged away, obviously having no signs of leaving or getting away so easily. Shurifin didn't like wherever this was going.. Why did he always have to answer to his instincts? Why didn't he just stay on land?? The sea was just far too alluring, it was his home. Or at least.. Its supposed to be.

" I DONT WANNA BECOME BIRD FOOD EITHER?! Please, just tell me what you want and I'll give it to you! Honest! "

She tuts, setting him down. "Calm down. Ya' ain't becomin' fish food anytime soon, Angel Fish."

Reaching into her coat, she pulls out a switch blade, flicking it open with a smooth motion. Bending down, she begins to cut at the ropes. "Yer more useful alive then dead."

It's tense as they fall away one by one, freeing him. Before he can scramble away, she grabs him. Her grip is tight, claws about to break skin as she smiles. "I need ya' tah... answer a few questions of mine..."

Her eyes curl up. The pit of dread in his stomach grows deeper. "Understood?"

He didn't trust her, but did hope that she was right. Shurifin stayed perfectly still as he was cut away and freed from the net that he had been trapped in finally. He didn't want to be stuck there forced to face her... Thought it seems that either way he'll be stuck here answering for himself for a long time.

Shurifin shifted a little but didnt make an effort to struggle or fight. He knew that he likely wouldn't win this fight even if he tried... The merphernal also didn't want to garter any attention, being forced to be passive and silent lest someone come over and see him like this.

" Uh.. Okay, sure. Ask me anything.. "

At least he wasn't getting kidnapped. he'd rather be interrogated than dragged away to be someones house pet or prized possession.

"We have a... stray Family member, they're quite the slippery one... always out in the waves before we can get ahold of them..."

She nonchalantly looks at her nails, languid despite the fact that the air is so thick you could cut it with a knife.

"We kept wonderin' how they would get out so deep so quickly..."

She looks up from her nails and back up at him.

"Then... lil' ol me... stumbled upon you."

Shurifin wraps the coat over his shoulders, not wanting to fully wear it thanks to his arms fins and wet skin making trying to wear anything long sleeved rather uncomfortable. He glanced back to the shore for just a moment before looking back to the stranger seemingly not understanding what she was getting at at first..

" I... Dont think I follow? "

It took him a minute to finally click, head fins fluttering lightly as he clocked who she meant. Shurifin hadn't exactly met many other merphernals besides himself and his sister... And one other person to. Shurifin played dumb. He didn't want to immediately assume something, especially with how tense this was. He couldn't risk making a mistake.

" I havent met anyone whos like me, if thats what you're asking? I dont really go around talking to people when I go swimming... Its... Not very safe to go out when so many people are around who could spot me. "

Forcing him to let go she pulls back. "I cared for you! You were Wavering and I begged for them to keep you!"

Her hand twitches. She should summon her gear. She should! But- It's them. He isn't the same. He's lost his way from the Family and-

She looks frantic. Her chest heaves and she wets her lips, nervous.

"We... we can still fix this... Ya' just have to come Home-"

She nearly reach outs for him but hesitates. "It- it'll be hard- but... we can still be a Family!"

They can't do that. Even if he did try, he would not be welcomed warmly. It would be with anger and suspicion.

Why can't she see that? She's already hurt them so much.

[ They turn away from her. ]

Her face drops and she watches them walk away. She almost goes to stop them but-

That is his choice. She can't stop them- not... not when he's left The Family behind already...

Her hand drops. Her voice is quiet, almost inaudible. Still the wind carries it to his ears. "We... I'll be here when he you abandons you... like all those false gods have abandoned us before...."

Her fists tighten. "You're still part of My family..."

Whether you like or not, is silently between them. He may be free now, but she will always haunt them.

Scythe stares. Long and hard. She seems... taken off guard. "Axe...? I... didn't think you were alive."

She steps closer. Looking them up and down. "Ya'... look different."

They look better. Like he's properly eating. Their eye bags seem smaller, and his cheeks are flush with health. Something in her itches at that.

How are they doing better away from the Family?

She narrows her eyes. "...I would've thought you'd come Home after yer fight. Back to the Family."

If she could her hackles would have gone up. Instead, her tail rattles angrily.

She steps forward again her spurs jingling as she hisses. "Just because ye' can't value our family doesn't mean ya' get to spit slander!"

Oh what delusions she holds. Blinded to what the Church truly is. What was it? Snake charmers always use sweet music to hypnotize cobra.

Father Overseer is certainly a Charmer. And Scythe is his Cobra. Why else would she follows his orders?

If she had a table in front of her she would have slammed her fists down onto it.

Instead, she rips that stupid momento she kept of them from the inside on her coat before hurling it at him.

It bounces of their chest pathetically. The glass beads crack as they hit the ground, shattering.

"I AM NOT BLINDED! THEY HAVE SHOWN ME THE TRUTH!"

Her hand sparks, itching to form her gear. She pants, anger choking her breath. "Those- False Gods don't care! None of them do! Even that Warden! He'll just discard you when he's gotten bored of you!

As soon as they grab her coat collar, her prosthetic arm darts out. She hisses loudly as the claws aim for Axe's face, trying to gouge at the sensitive flesh.

Her other hand grabs his lacerated hand roughly, nails digging into the skin fiercely.

Forcing him to let go she pulls back. "I cared for you! You were Wavering and I begged for them to keep you!"

Her hand twitches. She should summon her gear. She should! But- It's them. He isn't the same. He's lost his way from the Family and-

"I begged. It- it was going to work! You were just supposed to come back after facing him-! It was all going to go back to normal! Just like how it was supposed to be!"

There's a desperation in her words, flashing in her eye. She really believed that. It sickens him. Did the Church tell her some sick reason to leave them behind? That if they came back then it would prove he was true of faith?
