Jude the Obscure by far has the most single depressing thing happen in it of the 5 Hardy novels I've read but i didnt really feel that bad for any of the characters at any moment probably because the whole time i've been reading Jude the Obscure i've been watching Safdie Brothers and gambling movies and like Saturday Night Fever LOL

Processing an archival collection for a corporate archives is such a struggle because, odds are, the collection reveals a lot about the psychology of the person who collected the records, shows what they were reading, the newspaper clips they kept and what they underlined, what they think a 'topic' is, what they looked at the most or never, etc etc. But its not about the creator its abt the corporate function of the records so like, i cant keep a stack of printed out articles just because they show the collector was heavily into researching a topic if there isnt some original material or real connection to original materials. So if you are in a personal-corporate position like a college faculty member or something make sure you always write up original material about your thoughts and interests because an archivist is going to throw away the magazines you kept on that interest for reference and just write a note in the scope and content that published materials about [broad topic] were discarded
