Leif nodded and laughed a little bit “Yeah, those harpies have gotten really mad at me before, I like to go out at night and watch the stars. Anyway, wanna go swimming!”

Cam walked from the forest her hand burned but healing already, she muttered something about Greek fire.

Leif tilted his head at her “Your hand....doesn’t look too good,” He wondered if she had been messing around with Greek fire, as she had mentioned it.

“I know I’m probably overreacting, but I’m just kind of a cautious person,” Leif admitted with a slight blush. He was still feeling like somewhat of a nobody at camp, as the minor god kids lived in their own, slightly crowded cabin. “He really is awesome. We should all hang out sometime!”

‘’Yeah, yeah. Speak greek there, I bet they’ll love’’, he joked. ‘’All countries get boring once you live a whole life there. Nude beaches? No way, I’m fucking shy’’, he said, sarcastically. ‘’The lake is my area, let’s go’’

“I could! I bet they would be even more confused” Leif chuckled and shook his head “Nude beaches are not horrible. They’re real fun once you get over the shy and awkwardness. I guess just living free is kinda cool,” He shrugged and began walking “Better than my area....a hospital” He laughed.

“Mostly tame stuff like putting rubber snakes in the Apollo cabin and stealing all your clothes except your most embarrassing set, but once when I was mad at some of my classmates I did a really nasty thing that wasn’t really a prank. I made it look like they were cheating on this big career deciding test and the teacher in charge nearly expelled them.” She said looking down, ashamed that she ever thought it was ok to ruin someone’s future like that. “So, what is the minor gods cabin like?”

“Oh my gooodss! I can’t even imagine doing that kind of stuff!” Leif laughed loudly and shook his head. Leif was pretty much a tame kid, who never even really spoke to most people. “The minor gods cabin is...well...I don’t like it all that much, to be honest. Just a hodge podge of misfits...they don’t care enough about us to give us our own place...”

‘’It must be cool, though’’, she was really liking Leif. ‘’Yeah, Iker. He is a cool dude, we met when we were really young and you’ve got no idea of how many times I’ve stolen his things. Since I was younger. Like, he is such an easy target. Only if he is really, really angry.’’

“That’s so cool! I would be scared to prank him still, though. I don’t think my dad would want me to intimidate kids of the major gods,” Leif admitted and put his hands in his pockets. He would really hate to get on the bad side of one of the really powerful gods! “It would be so funny to see his face, though!!!”

‘’True, true. My story is so confusing. Basque Country is an awesome place, you should go there one day. I’ve never been to Portugal, but my mother has and she told me it is fantastic. Iceland must be cool, but if it had ‘’Beach’’ instead of ‘’Ice’’, it’d be even more fantastic’’, he joked. ‘’Uhm, I’ve got no clue. What about you?’’

Leif grinned “I really want to go now! I’ve really heard good things about it! But I also don’t know how to speak Basque so I wonder if it’ll be hard to get around there,” Leif hummed again and shrugged “Iceland is ooookaaayyy, but it kind of really gets boring once you’ve lived there your whole life! There are some beaches, but most of them are nude beaches and a lot of people think that’s even weirder” He rocked back on his heels “How about we go down to the lake?”

Damn, I understand crazy nationality stories, mine is one. My grandfather is german and my grandmother is basque, my mother is basque and I’m welsh, raised in the Basque Country. This is crazy. But, is Iceland cool?’’. ‘’Yeah, we should’’

“Yeah, the math part of it is annoying,” Leif nodded, before smiling wider “Wow, your story sounds really awesome, though! I’ve never been to the Basque Country. It’s really weird, but I’ve been to Portugal a million times, but I’ve never been to Spain! And I really want to go! Iceland is cool, but it’s freezing all the time. The hot springs are the best part though,” Leif hummed “What do you want to do?”

“It’s a busy life, but I like to think that I manage it well,” Leif laughed and shook his head, finding the whole thing really funny. “Iker!? Yeah, I’ve met him, he seems really cool! I wouldn’t wanna prank him, though. He can cause a flood or an earthquake!”

“….well I love running around. I’ve learned my way around camp by running around inside for a couple hours a day. I like playing pranks….talking to people….plotting things to do with my best friend Twyla….getting people to join my plots….stealing….you know, the usual. Playing the piano sounds cool.” She says, more interested in the thread she just noticed hanging out of her sleeve than making any amount of grammatical sense.

“You really sound like you belong in the Hermes Cabin!” Leif laughed and noticed her playing with a thread. Leif knew he was a pretty boring person to talk to, which is probably why he didn’t really have any friends. “What sorts of pranks do you play?”

‘’So you’re on Canada’s flag, aren’t you?’’, she smiled. ‘’Yes, it is. I like to prank people, mainly my dear boyfriend. He is a perfect target’’

“Yep! I’m the famous Canadian Maple Leaf, but don’t tell anyone, I’m trying to keep a low profile,” Leif chuckled “Sounds like a true Hermes kid! Who’s your boyfriend, if you don’t mind my asking?”

‘’He said, joking, ‘’did you forget to take your meds?’’. I mean, he was cool, but Chemistry is my weakness, most definetly’’, he smiled. ‘’Do you speak portuguese and icelandic? Woah, cool! My mother does speak portuguese too, and I know some words. But icelandic is like, completely new’’, he said, before drinking a cup of water.

But I think it’s because I have a somewhat natural affinity for mixing things together,” Leif looked up at him and nodded “Yeah, my mom is from Portugal, but I was born and raised in Iceland. It’s a weird story, I know,” He smiled at him again “Iker! We should hang out today!”

“I know what you mean, when I first got here I was afraid of everyone. I’m still afraid of most of the people here but I’ve decided to get to know people better to no longer fear them. My way only seems to work for me though….I wouldn’t recommend it…so what do you do for fun?” She asked, trying to figure out more from the strangely accented boy.

“You would think that after three years I would learn how to develop some kind of social skills, and also have some friends. But I spend a lot of time alone, which is cool, I guess. Just gets lonely,” He stretched out a bit and looked back at her. “I like to play the piano, and to work out. I’m also really into doing crafts! What about you?”

“Thanks. A lot of people pronounce it as “Leaf” like the part of a plant, and it is pretty funny,” Leif smiled back at her, feeling slightly light headed from healing her, which really showed how out of practice he was. “You’re welcome! It must be cool to be able to sneak about, though!”

“That would have been hilarious to see!” Leif laughed a bit, a smile wide on his face. “I should teach you how to curse in Icelandic or in Portuguese, you know, add to your arsenal,” He suggested, trying to choke down another laugh.

She put her hand to her collarbone and dramatically batted her eyes, “why thank you.” She laughed and smiled at him. “Being able to heal at all seems pretty cool, do you talk with the Apollo campers a lot? I heard they were in charge of the infirmary….if you wanted they would probably love to have you in there with them helping care for those dumb enough to get hurt.”

Leif’s face scrunched up a bit when the Apollo campers were brought up. He didn’t have a particularly great relationship wit them. “I haven’t really talked to them, honestly. I know they work in there, but I’d feel weird if I just went in on their territory,” He sighed a bit “They also are a bit intimidating..”
