Not only is this sexist and blatant fearmongering, but (most importantly) it’s incredibly insincere and disrespectful to Bianca and her loved ones. They’ve barely even had time to mourn in peace because they’re trying to stop clout-chasers from continuously spreading those images of Bianca, but here y’all are using her body like a platform to widen the divide in society and demonize an entire gender.
And for what? To look righteous? Virtue signal? Look woke?

i made a survey for transmeds to take about our opinions on different discourse topics.
Both cis and trans transmeds can take this survey. This will hopefully help us get an idea of our general opinions and debunk common myths about transmedicalism. After I think it’s gotten a good amount of responses, I will make a post explaining the data collected. The survey will only take a few minutes, and your answers can be as simple or complex as you’d like!

Ace people “coming out” as ace to their coworkers, their boss, or anyone they dont have a personal relationship with is not revolutionary or brave in any way, in fact it is mostly just weird that you think you need to tell these people about how much or how little you feel sexual attraction. It is never going to be the same as a gay person’s employer finding out about their relationships and it is never going to carry the same consequences, you guys just really wanna feel special.
the absence of a gay character in a work of fiction is not homophobic. the absence of a non-white character is not racist. the absence of a transgender character is not transphobic. the absence of a disabled character is not ableist. the absence of a female character is not sexist.
the absence of a character belonging to a minority group in a text does not make said text inherently opposed to a minority group.
a text is homophobic if it promotes violence towards homosexual people. a text is racist if it promotes violence towards people of the same race. a text is transphobic if it promotes violence towards transgender people. a text is ableist if it promotes violence towards disabled people. a text is sexist if it promotes violence towards people of the same gender.
I know this is controversial but I like this. There’s a difference between not recognizing a group of people and directly meaning them harm.
It’s okay to encourage people to add more representation, but trying to hurt them and the careers because they’re works didn’t portray a minority isn’t right. Stop equating ignorance or obliviousness to hate and violence.
It’s really scary and difficult to write in a character that’s different to you/in a minority. The differences that come with being in a minority are nuanced and difficult to portray without stereotyping and in today’s call out culture it makes sense to be afraid of backlash even if you meant well.

here are my best tips :)
- don’t take things personally! even if someone outright attacks you for not having the same views as them, don’t let it get to you. (it’s the internet, people say shit all the time and don’t mean it )
- stay civil! as I mentioned above, always focus on defending your ideas without attacking the other person.
- be open to changing your stance! this can be a hard one, especially if you’ve believe something for a long time. but if another argument is indefinitely persuasive, give it a chance.
and above all, don’t shut down other people just because you don’t agree! discourse is for civil, open discussion. let’s make this hellsite a little bit better by just being respectful!!

This is in no way trying to attack you or be mean, I just wanted to say that from what I’ve heard, demisexuality ain’t so much ‘not sleeping with everyone you find hot’ as much as genuinely not finding people hot until you get to know them. once again, i promise I’m not trying to be mean or start discourse, I just wanted to inform you of a point of view you may not have heard yet!

People make being LGBT their “entire identity” because they were told that they will go to hell just for loving someone. It’s a giant fuck you to all of the people who hate us. There is nothing wrong with making your public identity as flamboyantly gay as possible. Instead of distancing yourself from people who you think make “being LGBT” their identity, ask yourself why you think that is a bad thing. Its hard for all of us to unlearn the homophobia that society taught us.
I understand this logic, but the reason I have an issue with making your sexuality/gender orientation your identity is that making any one characteristic your entire personality IS inherently unhealthy.
when someone chooses to center themselves around their orientation, every instance of homophobia/transphobia or nonalignment with their personal views about lgbt discourse is inflated. it becomes a personal attack that is hard to step back from and work through. this can lead to unhealthy, angry discourse (which is definitely something we should not allow in the community because opinions should NOT be silenced, no matter how much you disagree).
also, making one trait your entire identity can be harmful if that person, in the future, discovers more about themselves and chooses to change their orientation label. suddenly, who are they? their entire foundation is shaken.
this is why it’s important to not focus your personalality on one characteristic.
it’s OK to be proud of being gay/trans/etc
it is NOT OK for it to be definitively who you are
people were really salty about that one post you made about flaunting gayness and everything, and i just want you to know, coming from a trans person, you are understood by a lot of people who are just too scared to agree with you. there's a difference between being proud and being obnoxious, and many people are really over the top obnoxious. i'm not sure if that's what you meant, but that's how i interpreted it. you're not alone in that view, that's all.
thank you for your kind words. that’s definitely what I meant by it! as I mentioned in another ask, being proud and being the “obnoxious gay/trans/etc. person who makes their identity their personality” are very different.
are people not allowed to be proud of loving themselves for who they are now?? do we have to throw pride month away because we're "flaunting our gayness and trans identity as some kind of god given gift"
to clarify my post:
there is a difference between being proud of your identity and flaunting it. I believe that defending your identity, accepting it as part of yourself, and incorporating it as a healthy part of your life is absolutely fine. celebrating pride is totally cool!
but, when someone begins to make their identity their entirely personality, it becomes a problem. this what I meant by flaunting. constantly stating “I’m gay/trans/etc” and making your identity your only defining feature (such as “the sterotypical gay friend”) is unhealthy and should be discouraged
