The butterfly project was a project designed to help those suffering with self harm as a way to remind themselves of those they love and those who love them as a way to help them recover. A few months ago I decided I wanted to show my followers and those I follow that I love and support everyone of them by making each of them an origami butterfly in their favourite colour with their name written on the wing. It may not be much, but I want you to know that I love you more than you could ever possibly imagine and I am always here for you no matter what. You are beautiful, you are strong and you are loved ♥ Anon
Note: The photoset is a series of gifs which shows each butterfly. To view them you may need to save them to your computer; I am sorry for the inconvenience. If you are having trouble finding your butterfly, please message me your name and colour and I will add your photo separately.
Hey uhm can I have a bit of help? Well I've been fat and distgusting all my life and I'm so tired of it and some of my friends (on tumblr) are bulemic and I know I shouldn't but I'm really tempted to I'm so sick of it please help me.
I'm sorry you feel this way about your body but I understand exactly how you feel. Humans have this horrible habbit of seeing themselves in a harsh light due to their own impossibly high standards and although I do not know who you are, I am sure you are not as 'fat and disgusting' as you think; if at all. However, if you truly want to lose weight, please don't purge or starve yourself; do it the healthy way. Eat a big breakfast which will keep you full during the day, eat a moderate lunch and a small dinner. If there are limited options to what food is available for you, always choose the healthier option. Drink plenty of water to hydrate your system and try not to snack between meals. Please don't force yourself to excercise to the point where you can not continue. Please do this the right way if you are insistant on losing weight. I love you and you are beautiful, even if you can't see it ♥ Anon
We live in a world where everyone is a critic. If your stomach is too big, you are undesirable. If you don't look perfect without make-up, you are unattractive. If your skirt is too short, you are a whore. Why should anyone be defined by the length of their clothing? Why is it that showing your body is considered slutty rather than confident. Why is it that a short skirt is offensive, while wearing a bikini is perfectly acceptable? Why should anyone else's opinion matter? No matter who you are, how you live and what you choose to wear, you are beautiful and no one has the right to make you question that or cause you to view yourself in bad light. You are not defined by the length of your skirt ♥ Anon
No matter what your sexual orientation, whether it fit into the categories above or not, it is nothing to be ashamed of and no one should ever make you feel otherwise. If you know what you want, what you are attracted to and who you love; then you are truly lucky. If you are brave enough to voice that orientation despite what some people may think, then I am so proud of you ♥ Anon
Sometimes looking in the mirror can be deceiving, like the mirror has transformed your body into something you find unattractive but know to be false. It is like looking in a circus mirror where your image is mutilated for fun, however in the comfort of your own home the joke isn't so funny. You are more than your image, you don't need to let your mirror's cruel tricks affect your self esteem or sense of identity. Neither your weight or your mirror defines you as a person; I love you regardless of your appearance, I think you're beautiful ♥ Anon
Bullying is never justified.
Recently I came across a post discussing bullying and whether or not certain words were considered as insults, an example of such a word is 'ranga' where the word itself is not derogatory however used in a specific context it can be. The comments on this post were all fairly genuine however one comparison disturbed me; someone claimed that to call someone a 'whore' is less offensive than calling someone an 'emo kid'. I understand how some may agree with this statement however I personally do not think that any insult is better than another when the hatred behind each word is equal. I also think that if the two must be compared, shaming someone on their promiscuity is less offensive than calling someone with a mental disorder, such as depression, an 'emo kid'. Rather than justifying an insult through comparison, why bother insulting someone at all, what good ever comes from being cruel to one another? We are all individuals with morals and beliefs, what right do you have to judge another on those choices and insult them for it? ♥ Anon
Sometimes I wonder to myself what the inventor of photoshop thinks about its frequency in the media. I wonder whether they would have created this programme if they knew what harmful affects it could have on the youth of society. Almost every image in the media representing 'beauty' has been subject to photoshopping and although most of us are aware of this, it still affects us. Despite the media, you do not need a computer to make yourself beautiful. It doesn't matter how tall or thin you are. It doesn't matter how soft or clear your skin is. It doesn't matter what colour you are or how you dress. There are thousands of people who will see remarkable beauty in you, myself included. You are beautiful, I promise ♥ Anon
Don't forget to love yourself. Such a notion seems so simple but in reality there are so many people who hate almost every aspect of themselves. We live in a world where our differences are celebrated, however if you fall short of perfection you are bullied or alienated until you too see only your imperfections. In this world, no one is perfect; no matter how wonderful you think they are. However they may be perfect to you, and those are the people to cherish in life. No matter who you are, or how you view yourself; I think you are perfect. I love you ♥ Anon
Anonymous abuse is something I will never understand. I have read so much hatred delivered behind a mask of anonymity, that causes nothing but pain and sorrow. I will never understand how someone could ever tell another to kill themselves, or that they deserve a form of illness or disorder. Seeing the notes on this makes me proud of everyone who can honestly say that they have never sent anonymous abuse.
I created this blog in hopes that I may be able to make a difference in the war against cyberbullying by spreading possitive messages and attempting to help those who need it. In a few weeks a new network will be created called The Anonymity Project; a project run by anonymous admins dedicated to giving advice and spreading a positive message. If anyone is interested in becoming a part of this network, please contact me ♥ Anon
Felicia Garcia, 15.
After rumours were spread about her, this beautiful young girl committed suicide as she could no longer handle the constant bullying. Through her life she suffered hardships including the loss of her parents, living in foster care and depression.
Rest in peace, Felicia. Forever young, forever beautiful ♥ Anon
"My rapist doesn't know he's a rapist."
Our culture judges too quickly and assumes the worst of people. If a woman is to wear revealing clothing she is not regarded as strong or confident, rather she is labelled a 'slut' with no self-respect. Anyone should be able to wear whatever clothing makes them feel beautiful and confident without the fear of being judged or raped. Under no circumstances is rape ever justified. Wearing revealing clothing is not an invitation for sexual relations.
Coersing someone to have intercourse is rape.
Taking advantage of someone under the influence is rape.
Forcing someone to have intercourse without consent is rape.
No one deserves to be forced to have sexual intercourse against their will or feel as though the crime was their fault. Rape is never the victims fault ♥ Anon
One of the most heart-wrenching aspects of this image is the fact that the girl in the mirror has an amazing figure. Society's idea of perfection has been drastically skewed over the years to the point where having a healthy physique is viewed as 'fat'. In medieval periods, a larger figure suggested wealth and was regarded highly. In more recent years, a fuller physique was truly appreciated in the 1950's. However, as photoshop contorts images, the media's influence on today's youth is strengthened causing them to believe that their own skin is 'fat'. Eating disorders are a serious issue and are not to be taken lightly. Support those around you and remind them they are beatiful. If you think somone you know is suffering from an eating disorder, encourage them to get the support they deserve. You are beautiful ♥ Anon
Olivia Penpraze, 19.
After one of many suicide attempts, Olivia was hospitalised and put on life support before her family said their final goodbyes on April 3rd, 2012. This beautiful girl suffered from self-harm, depression, anxiety and psychosis; some of which were resultant of bullying from her childhood. I hope she is able to be happy, now that she has escaped her nightmare. This video is her story.
Rest in peace, Olivia. Forever young, forever beautiful ♥ Anon
