“You wanna do what?” Jonny asked the other with furrowed brows, unable to quite believe what he was hearing. Run away? Leave their whole world here behind and find a new adventure like some coming of age movie? It was a bit terrifying to think about, and Jonny wanted to know why exactly they had such a wild idea. “Why would ya wanna run away? Where would we even go? How would we get there?”

Jonny snorted at that, shaking his head. “You never really seemed the type to wanna live in a giant city like that anyway.” He commented. “It would be nice to find a city or something, something bigger than this.” He commented, glancing around and biting his lip. “Think we could even survive in a place like that? A big city? After all, we are just small town boys living in a lonely world.”

"I think we could. I mean all we got to do is take the midnight train going anywhere,” Cary grins before sighing. He looks back to Jonny and says, “But really, I think we could handle it. Especially if we had each other right?”

Jonny shook his head, biting his lip. “I do.” He confirmed gently. “Just gimme a few days to get my things in order and then we can get outta here.’ He explained with a smile. “Where would we even go? Got any ideas about that? Where would you wanna be?” He asked curiously, head tilting to the side. While he didn’t have the same problems with this town that Cary had, he did agree that it was pretty suffocating. Too small. It’d be nice to get out and see a new place.

Cary shrugged and said, “Don’t know. Guess that’s the fun and mystery of it. Hard to know where I wanna be too when I’ve never been outside of this town. Somewhere bigger though that shouldn’t be hard. But not somewhere super cliche like New York City or Los Angeles. I’m not a small-town girl with big dreams of the big city or anything,” Cary grins.

He was lost in the moment when Cary caught him staring, and Nick jumped slightly at the comment. Instantly, he felt a heat rush up his neck and to his cheeks, flushing them pink as he glanced down to his sketch book.

“No! No, sorry, I just... I was kinda lost in thought. Sorry.” he replied, offering an apologetic smile before nibbling his lower lip. “What are you working on?” He figured changing the topic would be a good approach, though he was very aware of the colour still on his cheeks.

Nick didn’t miss the way Cary’s cheeks flushed a subtle shade of pink as he commented on the other’s hair, though the way he brushed off the compliment so quickly definitely stood out to him. He gave a small shrug of his shoulders in response, glancing back down at his own drawing and continuing the work on the shading.

“Well, I like it. I think you have cool hair.” he admitted, hoping that his friend would take the compliment for what it was. He really couldn’t figure out any way of admitting that he had feelings for his friend without completely falling to pieces in an awkward and fumbling mess. “Are you up to much tonight?”

Cary bit the inside of his cheek and pulled his lips in tightly neither a frown, grimace, or smile quite, with whatever it was meant to be completely hidden and internalized. Cary looked down a bit though and whispered, “Thanks,” not quite sure what to make of the compliment.

He opened his sketchbook back up going back to the shadows before the next question came causing him to glance up from his work again. He shrugs and says, “Same as every night. Not much other than sketching. Why?”

“  before  we  start  ,  it’s  been  a  long  time  since  i’ve  done  one  of  these  ,  so  ,  like  .  .   bare  with  me  .  i’m  nervous  .  ”  normally  ,  lennox  would  ignore  such  doubts  from  entering  his  mind  ,  yet  the  mere  reality  of  stepping  back  into  the  limelight  after  a  couple  months  away  was  incredibly  daunting  .  while  lennox  might’ve  wished  to  do  anything  o  t  h  e  r  than  this  within  his  free  time  ,  the  addition  of  the  individual  sitting  across  from  him  easily  served  as  the  only  form  of  excitement  thus  far  .  “  but  ,  uh  ,  is  this  gonna  take  all  day  ?  i  bought  chipotle  ‘n  i  really  wanna  eat  it  ,  i’m  pretty  hungry  .   ”  silence  stemming  from  the  other  was  a  clear  indication  of  their  annoyance  with  him  ,  possessing  every  good  reason  too  ,  only  encouraging  him  to  maintain  this  behavior  .  “  no  ?  okay  .  c  o  o  l  .  what’s  your  first  question  ?  ”

every journalist gets their start somewhere, beck’s just happens to be interviewing an annoying entitled musician. it’d be something if he was chosen to do it because of his talents, which he certainly has, but it’s far from the case. he’s chosen cause his boss doesn’t want to have to deal with arrogant asshole and the other intern is some girl who looked like she might cream herself the second she heard the person one of them would be interviewing was going to be lennox walker. beck meanwhile had simply asked, ‘who?’ that’d been enough for his boss to assign the task to him and for the other intern to sob at her desk for the rest of the workday. beck was good at his job though, so he’d done his research nonetheless, read a few previous interviews to figure out what he had been asked before, and what he didn’t care less about. beck barely paid him any mind as lennox proceeded with his egomaniacal behavior, simply reviewing his notes. 

“so you’re back after a couple months off, and out of the media spotlight, and some are curious as to what you’ve been doing in that time,” beck states pen ready to jot down whatever asshole statement lennox comes up with in response, despite not caring about the answer whatsoever.

Emerging from the en suite bathroom in an entourage of steam and clad in just a brilliantly pristine white hotel issue towel wrapped around his waist, Leo crossed his arms as he leaned against the doorframe, his expression a picture of admiration at the other.

They had been doing this for months now, and while he liked clandestine meetings and secret phone calls in the dead of night, he was fast approaching a desire for more. 

“You know we can’t keep doing this forever, right? As fun as that sounds. Eventually you’re going to have to make a choice, and I’ve always been a big fan of sooner as opposed to later.” 

The problem with being a practicing lawyer for as long as he had been before he stepped up to managing partner was more often than nothing simple statements could come across sounding like closing arguments – he had always been partial to those.

George huffs softly from his place in the sheets and hums softly, “And you have a way of making it all sound so simple. Like it’s simply X+Y+Z must become X+Y or X+Z, which requires a simple subtraction of Y or Z. But it’s absolutely not that simple.” He rubs his brow, cause, of course, he’s gone over the scenarios in his head a thousand times. “You tell me the solution, cause the way I see it. If you subtract Z, being you, then X, me, and Z, you, are both unhappy. But if you subtract Y to end up with X+Z then X’s father either kills him personally or arranges a Princess Diana style hit in a Paris tunnel and Z simply ends up as the prosecutor of X’s untimely death by murder or conspiracy. So either way, I’m not seeing a very pleasant ending, in either scenario. At least with the XYZ arrangement, everyone is moderately happy and best of all alive,” George reasons somewhat dramatically.

                  he’s  trying  his  best  not  to  stare  .  really  ,  ollie  is  working  very  hard  to  keep  his  eyes  on  the  guitar  in  his  hands  and  not  the  giggles  that  are  coming  from  across  the  room  .  it’s  hard  ,  though  ,  when  the  venue  his  band  is  about  to  play  in  is  so  damn  small  (  and  really  ,  by  VENUE  he  really  means  small  dingy  bar  )  and  his  bandmate’s  deep  laugh  keeps  bouncing  off  the  damn  walls  .  his  eyes  flicker  over  to  where  roger  is  standing  with  his  newest  conquest  and  his  tongue  darts  out  to  wet  his  lips  in  lieu  of  a  sigh  .  FOCUS  ,  OLLIE  .  of  course  ,  because  the  universe  is  very  much  not  on  oliver  parrish’s  side  ,  this  is  the  moment  roger  decides  to  walk  out  back  for  a  smoke  ,  and  his  flavor  of  the  week  (  the  one  ollie  just  happens  to  be  in  love  with  )  chooses  to  walk  towards the  stage  .  he  keeps  his  eyes  on  his  strings  as  he  speaks  .    “  hey  .  he  send  you  over  here  to  keep  an  eye  on  me  ?  promise  i  won’t  mess  with  the  keys  this  time  .  ”

                  cary raises his brows slightly as he jumps up onto the stage and takes a seat on the ground of the stage. he lays back keeping himself somewhat upright with his elbows and forearms. he scoffs at the question and says, “please, if anything you know i’d be an accomplice in that,” cary laughs softly looking out into the empty space where the crowd will be tonight. he’ll no doubt be somewhere in it, just a blur unseen by most, but present nonetheless. cary digs into his pocket and pulls out a mint and pops it into his mouth before looking up at ollie. “mint?” he asks offering one out to him.

––––––––––LAUGHTER BUBBLED FROM his lips as he watched the other dancing on a random table. he was right behind him, amused by how drunk the other was. he dance along, going with the other’s energy and just how happy they seemed. what he didn’t expect was for the person to slip, and when they did, he seemed to be in the perfect position to catch them.           ‘ woah, woah, woah. ’           he laughed, scrunching his nose.           ‘ you good there ? ’           he laughed, holding the very drunk person in his arms.

––––––––––––HE WASN’T EXPECTING for someone to quite literally fall out of the sky and into his arms, but the entire scene as it unfolded before him made him laugh. his giggles surprisingly fill his ears, even through all the yelling and music. eyes stay on the male, amused by the entire situation.         ‘ any time. always here to catch you ! ’       it’s meant to be playful and fun, and clearly it is. his hands tightened around him, holding him more snuggly when he drapes his arm over his shoulder.         ‘ you a little drunk, you sure you’re good ? ’       maybe he’s just painfully sober and notices the situation a little too much, but he doesn’t mind. what were the odds of him just catching someone as he fell off the platform ?             ‘ you good for me to put down ? or you rather i hold you ? ’

"good to know, for future reference. though if this has been the case prior to this point, you’ve done a poor job until just now, cause this exact situation has happened quite a bit before this and it did not end up as well as this instance,” jory remarks. jory nods his head and says, “i’m great. i didn’t fall on my ass and instead fell into the arms of a relatively attractive man so i’m not doing bad,” jory sighs happily. he shrugs as the next quest and says, “catchers choice i suppose,” he jokes.

❝  𝐈  𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐋𝐋  𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐎𝐓  𝐁𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐕𝐄  𝐘𝐎𝐔  𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐃  𝐌𝐘  𝐂𝐑𝐀𝐙𝐘  𝐀𝐒𝐒 .   ❞  Archer  laughs  and  his  mood  lightens  obsessive  side  of  his  would  not  leave  his  poor  mind  alone  .  He  approaches  his  partner  with  arms  wide  open  to  hold  him  in  a  tight  embrace  that  means  ‘ thanks  for  saving  me  once  again  ‘  then  he  steps  back  and  takes  his  cellphone  from  the  table  ,  a  good  idea  finally  reaching  his  brain . ❝  Hello ,  Jenna .  I  sort  of  need  a  favor .  ❞  he  proceeded  to  explain  to  his  assistant  the  situation  and  tell  her  to  call  the  chef  of  one  of  the  hotels  to  bring  the  catering  to  his  home .  After  hanging  up  ,  he  turns  and  smiles  triumphantly  at  Teddy . ❝  Do  I  get  a  golden  star  ?  Oh ,  and  I’m  the  one  who’s  not  okay  with  the  clowns  since  the  dumb  killer  clown  movie  YOU  made  me  watch .  ❞

He smiles a bit and shrugs, “I grew up with politicians and socialites as my only family members, you learn to accept the crazy and learn to love it. It’s not so hard to do when it comes to you though,” Teddy states stepping into the embrace. He kisses Archer’s cheek when he comes back over to him and laughs, “You’re far too reward oriented. It’s probably part of the reason you get so stressed out over simple things like a one-year-old’s birthday party.” He chuckles a bit and says, “It is a movie though Archer, total fiction. Though I suppose there have been real killer clowns, like Gacy, but he never actually killed while in clown form, so I think we’re good right now. When they take off the clown makeup, however...,” he begins to tease, “but we did install quite the extensive security system in one of your previous freak-outs, so I think we’re good there too,” Teddy smirks.

Jonny bit his lip. He knew Cary didn’t really love it here. Hell, he wasn’t that attached to this place himself other than his commitments. “Here… lemme talk to my dad about it later, and then I’ll tell ya my answer… school’s out for the summer, my boss hasn’t made any new schedules yet for the diner…” He reached out, squeezing his friend’s arm. “If all else fails, I’ll go with ya… ya know how much I like our adventures.”

What was here for Cary other than his one friend in Jonny? He couldn’t list anything. His dead beat shitty dad? His mother who’d always been no more than passive towards him even before his older brother died and now completely ignored him? Maybe if his brother, Will, was still alive it’d be something, but Will had wanted out of this place as almost as much as he did now. Though he supposed Will had a better escape with his baseball scholarship to some fancy out of state school, Cary didn’t have that. He just had the money he scraped together to get him out, but probably not all that far. 

Cary nods his head and smiles a bit, but only with the left corner of his mouth. “Thanks, Jonny. This place, it’s just suffocating and yet empty at the same time, and too familiar and completely foreign as well. You know?” He sighs heavily.

Nick noticed the slight awkward and nervous nature that seemed to take over Cary’s demeanour as they sat there opposite one another, and he began to instantly worry how it had looked to the other young man. Nick’s gut sank, the thought of making his friend uncomfortable not sitting right with him, but how could he explain that without letting on what he was actually thinking about.

“I’m sorry, man, I was just… Your uh… Your hair looks really cool today. I was just admiring it.”His hair? That was lame… Nick cursed silently at how ridiculous it had sounded, but it was out there now. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.”

Cary stared back at the other trying to analyze if he was being made fun of or not. Cary over the years had come to believe that he almost had a superpower in the fact that nobody noticed him. He was invisible to nearly everyone, hell they didn’t even seem to hear him when he spoke or feel him when he bumped into them, he was a non-entity. And generally, when people did see or hear him, it wasn’t great for him. 

He blushes slightly at the compliment though he’s still unsure if he believes it. He drops his head down looking back down at his sketchpad for a moment before glancing back up at Nick and giving a shrug with his shoulders. “I didn’t do anything different with it though,” he mutters. 

He never liked his hair or maybe he didn’t like his hair in combination with his face. If it got too long his dad always said it made him look like a girl, but if it got cut too short which wasn’t hard to do it looked weird with his face. And then even if you had it cut it to the right middle length he hated how straight his hair was cause it always looked greasy if you asked him. He honestly wasn’t sure where it was in its progression at this point. Was it middling, had it grown too long already, had it not grown out enough? He wasn’t sure. But he wasn’t sure what it could be doing to warrant any kind of compliment.

Cary narrowed his eyes with distrust which was something that came easy to him. Between school bullies and the constant getting picked on at home as well, he mostly sat in wait to be made a fool of someway somehow. As far as he knew people only looked at him for extended periods of time when they were thinking of how best to mess with him.

Cary frowned slightly brow furrowing and shutting his sketchbook as he shifts uncomfortably, “You were doing it for a long time,” he states pulling his sketchbook and knees higher up against his chest to shield his face from view a bit more now self-conscious. He glances back down at his sketchbook again his defenses still up as he shrugs a bit and says, “I don’t know. Nothing. I was just practicing facial shadows and stuff.”

Open: m (22+) Connection: friend, classmate etc Concept: Nick is just figuring out that he’s totally into guys and he’s got a major crush on your muse and your muse catches him staring and starts to put 2 and 2 together

Nick should have known it was a bad idea to go over to the other young man’s place. Just the two of them, studying together, working on their projects and chatting away… It was a disaster waiting to happen. Ever since he had caught himself out staring at his friend without even realising, ever since he had noticed the way his heart rate increased any time he caught a glimpse of that smile or the little sliver of skin that appeared when the other reached up for something… He knew that this was something huge. 

So as they sat alongside one another on the floor of his friend’s room, Nick sketching with his back resting against the bed, the young artist caught himself staring once more and god how had he not focused on how beautiful his friend was before now.

Cary kept his eyes on his own sketchbook, mindlessly sketching when he felt eyes on the side of his head. He ignored it at first just focusing on his sketch, but he continued to feel it. He let his eyes glance over and noticed Nick staring, but again just brushed it off. But it just continued and he found his cheeks flush a bit suddenly from the attention before looking up at Nick. “What? Why’re you staring at me. Did I get pencil on my face or something?” Cary asks rubbing at his cheek nervously.

Jonny bit his lip, wringing his hands together. He had have things holding him here… he had his job at the diner, he had his schooling. He had his dad. Honestly it was a lot to think about and consider. He drummed his fingers on the table, looking at Cary with a shake of his head. “I dunno Cary, I…” He sighed. “’ve never done anythin’ like that before, I dunno if I could just… up and leave.”

Cary nods and says, “I just...I don’t want to be here anymore. It’s...never been home for me and I just want...to be somewhere else. Look you don’t have to move with me but...maybe just come with me. Every adventure we’ve ever had we’ve done together. Just come with me till I find somewhere and then you can come back here and I’ll visit you every now and then. I just...I don’t want to be here anymore,” Cary sighs.
