Ahead of schedule

Yesterday the new season started and I played some matches. During the 18 matches I played, and reached rank 14 as a result, I encountered a lot of Mages and Hunters. Just like the end of last season they are dominating the ladder.

On my road to 500 Hunter wins I'm ahead of planning. I hoped to reach 300 wins at this point, but the marker is on 333 wins. I need 17 more to stay on track to reach the 500 wins before the end of March.

TempoStorm Meta Snapshot 8

When you look at my meta stats from the ~100 games I played this week, it's clear Hunter, Mage and Druid are the most played decks around rank 2-6. This is also the case with the highly popular Meta Snapshot from TempoStorm. The only thing I missed was the popularity of Oil Rogue. As Hyped mentions in the snapshot, this is probably due to the high skill needed to play the deck. It works very well against the Hunter and the Mage so I probably need to figure out how to deal with this. Or I'm just faced with more mirror matchups. Mid Range Hunter will still be a good choice to run the next week. And otherwise Face Hunter.

SenX Mid Range Hunter analyzed

A week ago I switched from Face Hunter to Mid Rage Hunter. I adapted the deck of SenX with which he hit legend rank 1. This week Hearthstoneplayers.com analyzed the deck and talks about it's strengths and weaknesses. Even though I now how to differentiated between Face Hunter and Mid Range Hunter because of Webspinner, it is good to see my own conclusions confirmed in this article. It's also good to note what the weaknesses are, because damn I hate those Antique Healbots.

Blackrock Mountain, Molten Core and Ragnaros

I can't wait until next friday when Blizzard is probably going to announce the next adventure for Hearthstone at PAX East. It's probably going to be Blackrock Mountain, because of the card backs of Molten Core and Ragnaros that where found in the code by Hearthead.com. The abbreviation of the update is brm (Blackrock Mountain?), so brace yourself for next friday.

No Legendary Hype Train

Friday was the last day to reach legend rank. I failed. I got stuck at rank 3 for two days and the meta seems to have shifted al little over the last week. Or maybe it is totally different during weekdays compared to weekends when more casual players are playing. Or not. Because who am I kidding. Everybody at rank 3 it not even close to casual. Maybe I'll reach legend in March.

Big Game Hunter

The awesomeness of a big minion in Hearthstone is dependent of many factors, but a the Big Game Hunter has a big say in things. If the minion has 7 or more attack it’s vunerable to the BGH and that is a bad thing. Dr. Boom, Ragnaros or Baron Geddon all give you value even when they are killed next turn by BGH and therefor exist in the meta. Is the influence of BGH to great on the Hearthstone meta. Brian Kibler believes it does and explains the whole situation and problem perfectly on his blog.

Hunter in Arena part 1 - TempoStorm

The upcoming month I'm focusing on Hunter and try and complete my Hunter with 500 wins and level 60. I'm going to play constructed to do this, but I ran into this great article on how to play Hunter in arena on TempoStorm.com. The article consists of three parts and only the first part is available for now for everybody. The other two are still premium content and will be available in the next two weeks. Rank 3 Achievement

I'm on schedule to reach 300 Hunter wins at the end of the week. The score is 285 wins right now and I have almost half a week to get 20 more. I'll be traveling on Friday and Saturday. So although I reached rank 3 (and was 1 star away from rank 3), which is my best rank ever, I probably will not reach legend rank this season. Hopefully Sunday will be a good start of the new season, but House of Cards season 3 is screaming for attention. Either way, this weekend is going to be awesome.

250 win Hunter milestone

On the road to a golden Hunter in March I set out to reach the 300 win mark before the end of Februari. Today I switched from Face Hunter to Mid Range Hunter because of the meta switch with Oil Rogue, Mech Shamans, and the still very present Mech Mage. As reported in the weekly Tempo Storm meta snapshot Mid Range Hunter should do awesome. And looking at my stats from the last 24 hours I can tell you this deck works out very well for me on the EU ladder. 300 Hunter wins here I come!

Golden Hunter Challenge

The Hearthstone season is almost at it's end. And while I got to rank 7 on ladder at some point in Februari, I knew I was never going to reach legendary status. I just wanted to see how far I could take a Face Hunter. While rank 7 came up quite fast, Oil Rogue, Mech Shaman and Antique Healbots started to pop up in the meta and I started to drop ranks during the meta shift. But I didn't give up on Rexxar. Why? Because Rexxar is destined to be my first golden hero and is already half way with 250 wins. With some effort, switching between Face and Mid Range Hunter, and 50 wins a week, it should be possible to hit my goal before the end of March.

So while some people set their goal to reach legend, for the coming month mine will be to reach 500 ranked wins and level 60 on my Hunter and capture the highlights as I go.

I'm going to record the steps along the way on this Tumbler and mix it up with other Hearthstone news, facts and interesting information. Here we go, let's do this!
