“Talk to me, Why don’t you talk to me?”
Summary: It had always been easy loving San from a distance, but whenever the unexpected happened, no one warned you of the consequences that came with secretly loving your best friend.
Warnings: fluff, angst, hurt and comfort
A/n: Here’s then San fic I promised! Soo Jin or Jake next? Both are already in the works so lmk which I should post first ;) also comment to be tagged.
────୨ৎ──── ────୨ৎ──── ──୨ৎ──
You lay sprawled out on your living room sofa, your feet repeatedly nudging San’s hands as he continued to focus his full attention onto the game mirrored on your television screen.
In the middle of your coffee table there sat a picture frame of you and San dressed in matching outfits for twin day. The silent memory always reminded you that you in fact do have someone you can always count on.
You had invited over a small group of friends hoping to spend a little time with everyone, San on the other hand wasn’t too worried about hanging out with people he saw almost everyday.
“Bug, I told you I’m not excited to see Mingi.” He groaned.“I hung out with him all day yesterday and he wouldn’t stop talking the entire time.” San muttered, turning his head towards you offering you a playful smile.
You pulled your foot all the way back, softly kicking the remote control out of his hands with a visible smirk on your face.“Don’t do that, you know Mingi always has a lot to say.”
Just then your front door closed shut causing both you and San to stare shockingly at each other. Mingi kicked his shoes off, before walking over to where you and San were sat.
“Bro San you won’t believe what I just heard” Mingi’s voice bounced off the wall, his hands throwing your legs off of the couch, as he hurried to take a seat. You slowly sat up clearing your throat before reaching over and giving him a hug.
You wrapped your arms around his neck, but he couldn’t sit still; his hands gave your back two fast pats before he attempted to free himself from the hug. Whatever he had to say was really causing him to be jittery.
By pulling away, you allowed the two friends to indulge in whatever Mingi desperately needed to share with San; you slipped away to the kitchen where Hongjoong and Wooyoung stood.
“Why would we put chocolate with chips?” Hongjoong groaned, snatching the mini chocolate bars away from Wooyoung. You slid your body in between the two, stealing a handful of chips from the bowl before taking a seat at the kitchen table.
Wooyoung slapped Hongjoong’s hand away. “Chocolate can go with chips, right, bug?” Wooyoung’s voice rose with uncertainty, his eyes glancing at you as he waited for an answer. You shrugged your shoulders, placing the chips into your mouth.
After all the snacks were separated, the three of you walked over to the living room.
“Never thought I’d see the day where you’d actually put yourself out there.” Mingi’s voice rung through the house, as he took a small sip of his water.
Listening carefully to the conversation that was happening right in front of you, you placed down the drinks, while Wooyoung and Hongjoong placed both bowls down in the center of the coffee table.
San’s eyes rolled as he and Mingi began bickering back and forth.
Your body froze, numbness began pulsing through you in thick waves, it took a moment for you to pull yourself together.
Once you snapped out of it, you finished setting down everything neatly on the table. Now, it wasn’t out of the ordinary for you to be hearing about girls that your friends had been dealing with. You were used to hearing them flaunt and brag about their dates, but you could tell by the way the conversation was going and from the way he smiled that San definitely had some great chemistry with whoever she was.
“I told you not to bring her up.” San smirked, tossing a pillow at Mingi’s head. You felt your chest tighten; an unfamiliar ache pulsing through your throat. You swallowed painfully hard, forcing the thoughts of wanting San away.
The room quieted down, the sound of cushions moving and fabric rustling was the only thing that could be heard, as everyone found comfortable spots on the couch.
You settled for the spot closest to the armrest, placing one of your fluffy white blankets over your body.
“On a serious note, I’m not looking to date right now.” San mumbled, his eyes glancing over at you to see if you’d react to his words.
When realizing that your eyes never left the television, he let out an exaggerated sigh, shuffling over to sit down directly next to you.
Attempting to get himself comfortable, San leaned his head on your shoulder, something he’d do whenever you two were alone.
Usually, the slight touch of San’s body on yours would make your heart flutter, but today was different.
Your mind traced back to the spare key sitting on your night stand, the one that meant you were welcomed in his home any time.
Now, you just sat there wondering if it was even still your place to stop by and drop off dinner.
“Are you paying attention?” San whispered, his hands resting on your shoulder as he softly nudged you.
You cleared your throat, pulling your attention away from the television screen. “San, I’m paying attention.” You muttered, slightly turning your head towards him. “Now stop talking, you’re distracting me.”
Your eyes roll as you notice that teasing smirk form onto San’s face.“Do you really want me to shut up?” He whispers right against your ear causing a chill to rush up your spine.
A frown fell onto your lips as you shove his chest. The action coming off more aggressively and harshly than you intended. The force of your palm causing his body to jolt back.
San’s cocky smirk was long gone, now replaced with a hurt expression. He fixed his posture repositioning himself away from you, his head tilted as his eyes searched yours, completely confused by the sudden change in your mood.
“What did I do to you?” He mutters, his voice cracking as the words roll off his tongue. Every raw emotion that San was feeling ,had been, and would continue to be kept to himself.
You didn’t know it, but San hadn’t seen you as just a bestfriend since the two of you had been in high school. You never noticed how his gaze lingered on you whenever you sat in front of your mirror admiring yourself as he repeatedly urged you to move faster.
And at times, he felt unseen. You were always so fixated on yourself, that you never considered San’s feelings.
There was a joke shared between the group about how impossible it was for San to keep things to himself. But in reality, he was keeping one of his deepest secrets well hidden, and that made everything hurt significantly worse.
You swallowed hard trying to distract yourself from the way San was staring at you.“You didn’t do anything.” You sighed.“Just focus on the movie.”
The more you spoke, the more his heart sank. And from that day on, he knew that nothing would ever be the same.
────୨ৎ──── ────୨ৎ──── ──୨ৎ──
It had been two weeks since the last time San had spoken to you. Each day that passed without talking to you caused San’s usual spark to slightly dull.
Dark circles had started to form underneath his eyes, from all of the sleepless nights he had wasted staying up thinking about you.
“You need to loosen up, you’ve been staring at that same sign for ten minutes.” Mingi said, pushing a shot filled with alcohol towards his friend.
San immediately picked up the glass, downing it like it was nothing before slamming it against the wooden bar. Mingi’s eyes widened as he took a seat directly next to his friend.
For a moment silence settled between the two. Distant chatter erupted throughout the room and lately, San hadn’t been a man of many words. Which wasn’t like him, and that worried Mingi.
"Maybe you’re right.” San mumbled, scooting out of his chair before disappearing into the crowd.
Around this time of year, you usually would be inside soaking up the time you had to relax. Since it wasn’t often that you’d get time off from a job that rarely allowed breaks.
Yet somehow, you still ended up in front of one of the most popular bars in town.
Your bestfriend Lena had convinced you that it would be good for you to finally get out of the house and meet some new people, even though all of that was the least of your worries.
You followed behind the taller girl, allowing her to lead you through the overfilled crowd.“I promise once you have a drink, everything will feel better.” She giggled, pulling you directly in front of the bartender.
After receiving the drinks, Lena hurriedly gulped hers down. You playfully rolled your eyes before taking a few small sips of your martini.
You weren’t a heavy drinker and whenever it came to drinking, you’d usually sit out and watch everyone else enjoy themselves.
And as the sour fruit hit your throat, you couldn’t stop the disgusted look from forming onto your face. The stinging that followed behind the bitter taste really took you by surprise.
“You never allow yourself to have fun. Get up!” Lena smiled grabbing your hand while pulling you away from the bar and into the crowd.
Lena had always been the wild type. She went out almost every weekend, occasionally inviting you although she knew you’d never come.
The bass of the music blasted throughout the over crowded bar. You and Lena stood side by side, dancing to the loud bass of the music that played throughout the entire establishment.
It had been a while since you’ve hung out with Lena, the two of you reunited just a few hours ago and already things seemed to be going a little better.
She was the only one who really knew about your feelings for San. She had always sensed the chemistry between you and him, and would occasionally tease you about it.
You were trying your hardest to make the most out of tonight, but it was impossible to ignore the visible ache in your heart. Your eyes began to tear up, and the last thing you wanted to do was ruin your night by becoming emotional.
You leaned towards your best friend, your head hovering near her ear.“I can’t stop thinking about him.” You whispered loud enough for her to only hear.
Lena’s eyes lit up as she leaned over to whisper back.
“Well, a little birdie told me that San is here right now.” She blurted out, a smirk instantly finding her face as she analyzed your shocked expression.
Your eyes search the crowd, and as your eyes wander over all the unfamiliar faces you began to believe that Lena was just teasing you.
“Lena don’t joke like tha-”
Just as you were about to complain you felt a light tap on your shoulder. You froze in place, that touch felt all too familiar. Your mind started racing as you swallowed hard.
Your eyes landed onto San’s face as you turned around. Just by looking at him you could immediately tell that he was nervous, his jaw was clenched and his shoulders seemed to be more tense than usual.
His hand dropped from your shoulder, and landed onto your hand.“Can we talk?”he pleaded softly, as his hand rested against yours.
“It doesn’t have to be right now, just come to me before you leave.” He muttered, sighing lowly before pulling his hand away.
You wanted to talk now. You couldn’t bear to let him walk away again without knowing how you really felt. You turned to Lena, searching for some sort of reassurance.
And once her head nodded, you knew that she was signaling for you to go.
────୨ৎ──── ────୨ৎ──── ──୨ৎ──
San hadn’t let go of your hand as he pushed through the crowd of dancing bodies. His mind was purely focused on getting you out of the bar, he knew how quickly your mood could change whenever you’re anxious.
As you exited the large wooden doors, you began preparing yourself for the uncomfortable conversation that was incoming.
San led you to the passenger side of his car, opened the door and allowed you to get in.
You then watched as he walked over to the drivers side, entering the car with a loud groan before slamming the door shut.
The man’s eyes continued to stare ahead as a sudden stillness filled in the small car. It wasn’t usual for the two of you to be quiet when together, but this time was different.
He slowly turned his head in your direction, almost instantly becoming hyper aware of the way your hand played with the gold ring on your finger, something you did whenever you were nervous.
San cleared his throat, immediately pulling your attention away from the gold jewelry that rested on your finger. Your eyes met his, and a spark fluttered in your chest. Seeing him look all pouty and sad really had an effect on you.
“I don’t like how things ended back at your place.” His voice spoke, slicing through the heavy air of car.“We’ve always been good at communicating, so what’s changed?”
Your eyes shifted from his face to his chest, his breathing had become heavier, and from the way his muscles tightened, you could tell he wasn’t happy with the way you had been acting recently.
For a moment you stayed silent, confessing to your best friend was something you never expected yourself to do.
But in a situation like this, what else was there to do? Let him find some other woman, let them live happily ever after while you lay in bed miserable every night?
Yea, no.
That wasn’t going to work, especially since you deeply cherished the bond you had with San.
“Nothings changed.” You sighed, fixing the way your body was positioned in the seat. You ran a hand over your face, accepting everything that would come after the words of confession leave your mouth.
“San I see you as more than a best friend.” Your voice muttered lowly.
And as badly as you wanted to ignore it, you couldn’t stop yourself from noticing the way his face twitched upon hearing you speak.
That uncomfortable silence returned, but this time the air felt a little heavier. You didn’t know he’d react, and it had already taken a lot of courage for you to be so vulnerable.
Internally San was feeling relieved. He had been waiting patiently for you to say how you felt, he knew that his love for you wasn’t unrequited.
Whenever things went wrong you always ran to him, not to mention that you almost always avoided having conversations about relationships.
San’s hand reached over the console, and gently brushed back a piece of your hair. His lips parted but before he could speak, he stopped himself. He was hesitant, but knew that it would get him nowhere.
“I feel the same way bug, I always have.”
You blinked repeatedly, taking a moment to process his words, a soft chuckle left your mouth as you leaned into his touch.“Are you serious?” You uttered out, releasing all of the built up tension that lingered within you.
You gave his shoulder a playful shove, this time allowing your hand to rest softly against his firm chest, that familiar smile returned to your face.
“So you went no contact with me for two weeks, all because you wanted me to confess first?” You spoke up, jokingly rolling your eyes.
San smirked confidently as his eyes fell to where your hand was placed.“I didn’t mean to make you suffer, bug.” He whispered, placing his hand over yours.
“Those were the worst fourteen days of my life, but hearing those words that just left your mouth, definitely makes up for all the time we’ve wasted.”
“You’re ridiculous, San.” You murmured, smiling widely as you lifted yourself out of your seat.
The distance from weeks ago finally came to end once your arms reached over and pulled him in a tight hug. Your hands rubbed gently against his back as he lightly chuckled into your hair.
The hug grew stronger once San’s large hands firmly pulled you over into his seat. Your eyes closed as you melted into his arms. Finally, wrapped in the arms of your best friend who you had loved in private for all of those years.
Is it worth it?

Your apartment door slammed shut, causing an echo to flow through your apartment. The car ride home had been short, but it gave you enough time to think about what you would do next.
You led Jungkook over to your living room couch, the two of you sitting down. Your legs were placed onto his lap as his hands massaged your foot.
Everything had been going so good between you and Jungkook. He was sweet and thoughtful, and at times you would find yourself questioning whether or not you deserved him and all of the affection that was given to you.
Silence filled the room as you tried to figure out the best way to explain everything to him. You knew you should’ve done more to show Jungkook that you cared for him, but you always found yourself pushing him away.
“Do you feel like I don’t do enough for you?” Your words came out more pathetically than you intended.
The question hung in the air; you watched as his face dropped, his hands stopped massaging your foot abruptly, and the look in his eyes nearly shattered you.
“What? No, I’d never feel that way.” His deep voice softened, his eyes glossy as he stared at you like you had just broken his heart.
Fuck, you’re doing it again..
You swallowed hard, trying to contain the pain that was rushing through your throat. “I mean, you always do sweet things for me, and I just want to know if you feel like my feelings for you aren’t reciprocated.” You muttered quietly, attempting to stop yourself from spiraling.
Jungkook’s large hands instantly reached over and pulled you onto him. He began holding you tightly, his head resting softly against your neck. "Princess, how many times do I have to tell you that I only want you?” His voice raised slightly, thick with emotion.
"I need you to see how beautiful of a woman you are, on the inside and out. I’ve never had anyone welcome me into their home and actually care about me.” He added, his arms tightening around you as he attempted to pull you even closer.
You allowed his words to sink in, staying silent for a moment. It was becoming significantly harder for you to process your thoughts. Internally you knew you weren’t giving yourself enough grace. You worried a lot about past relationships and the troubles of commitment.
But for Jungkook, that was the least of his worries. Sure, he had his fair share with many women, but none of them were like you.
Although he dreaded repeating himself, for you, he would take it as far as reminding you every day that this is exactly what he wanted.
“I can’t take it anymore.” He blurted out, slightly pulling back to look you in your eye. “I’ve never felt this way for anyone. I’ve proved myself, haven’t I?”
Instantly, you froze. Not because you didn’t like what was coming out of his mouth, but because it had caught you so off guard.
Your eyes searched Jungkook’s. Once you noticed the slight glossiness in his eyes, it became impossible for you to hold back.
Slowly gliding your hand through his hair, you couldn’t help but stare at his lips. The way he was softly pouting and clinging onto you made your heart skip a beat.
“You’re right.” You whispered, moving your hand down to firmly hold the back of his neck. “You’ve done everything you said you would.” You added, softly leaning forward, taking your time to analyze his face before pressing your lips against his.
Jungkook had waited so long and patiently for you to initiate something. And now, he finally had you exactly where he wanted you.
His hands possessively gripped your waist, his mouth passionately exploring yours. You feel your heart racing, and as the kiss deepens, your hands return to softly grip his hair.
After what felt like hours of the two of you being all over each other, Jungkook suddenly pulls back. His thumb brushed over your now swollen lip; a cheeky smile found his face as he stared at your flustered state.
It didn’t take long for his quirky smile to fade. Jungkook’s eyes then locked on to yours. The wrecked emotions from earlier were now long gone, replaced with something more intense and dominating.
“Look at me." He ordered aggressively, his deep voice sending vibrations straight through your chest. He waited patiently for your eyes to lock onto his. And once your gaze met his, he quickly pulled you down, locking your body firmly against his.
Jungkook’s head leaned close to your ear.
“You don’t get to run away from me anymore; I won’t let you.” His voice was barely above a whisper, causing the interaction to be so intense and intimate.
As you sat there cuddled up in Jungkook’s arms, an overwhelming sense of fear rushed over your body.
Your relationship with Jungkook wasn’t just casual anymore; after spending so much time together, how could it be?
And as much as you hated it, you couldn’t stop yourself from thinking about how you would be perceived. There was a clear difference between you and Jungkook. You were into books; he was into parties.
It was selfish of you to be focused on your “reputation” while clinging to the person who you believed would either make people love or hate you.
“Do you hear me?” He repeats, his voice slowly growing louder as his hand rubbed small circles against your soft skin. “I want us to be official.”

Your hand slowly ran across the silver bracelet on your wrist—a soft reminder of the boy who had spent the last three weeks treating you like the most valuable thing in his life. With Jungwon, you never had to ask for much; he was the type of man to skip out on sleep just to be with you.
And on days like today, where you found yourself in an uncomfortable situation, you couldn’t help but to think about how he wouldn’t allow anyone to look at you the wrong way. And yet, you still found yourself surrounded by people who thought so lowly of you.
You sat sluggishly in your seat, your body softly resting against the cushion of the couch. It was like every wall of the room was caving in around you.
Gianna was laughing obnoxiously, maintaining eye contact with everyone in the room. But as soon as you spoke up, she turned her back.
This wasn’t Gianna’s first time doing this. You had been ghosted twice, left standing outside in the pouring rain, and she purposely skipped out on attending your birthday dinner. But still, every time she apologized, you would welcome her back in. Clinging to that small amount of hope, that she’d finally change.
You continued sitting on the couch. Waiting patiently for Jungwon’s text, the usual one he would send whenever letting you know that he was outside. Your hands gripped tightly onto your phone as you hovered over his contact.
Just then the sound of a car horn startled you out of your trance. A warm smile spread across your face as you grabbed your stuff and rushed out of Gianna’s house. Not even bothering to say goodbye, she didn’t deserve it anyway.
As you stepped out of the house, you were instantly hit with a cool breeze. A chill rushed through your body, as you happily made your way over to Jungwon.
His body leaned gently against his black car, his face lighting up once he finally noticed you approaching him. Instantly, he noticed your body slightly shivering.
Jungwon’s hands immediately pulled you into a hug. His hands gripping onto your waist firmly as his head nestled into the crook of your neck.“ I don’t think you should hang out with that girl anymore.” He muttered lowly, his voice sending soft vibrations through your body.
You knew that Jungwon was right. Honestly, you couldn’t think of a time where he had ever been wrong. He specifically told you earlier that it was best if you ended the friendship with Gianna before anything bad could happen.
But here you were, melting in his arms sadly as you finally began venting about all of the horrible events of today.“I should’ve listened, she invited me over and didn’t speak to me at all.” You groaned, looking up at Jungwon, moving a stray piece of hair from his face.
He sighed loudly, pushing himself off his car his hand now pulling the passenger door open.“Baby, I really do hate to say this. But I told you.”
Your eyes rolled playfully, you knew that was coming. “I thought this time would be different.” You whispered foolishly, your body sinking against the leather seats of Jungwon’s car.
His head shook shamefully as he shut the car door and walked over to the driver’s side.“We’ve talked about this before though. I hate seeing you upset.” He replied, now driving away from Gianna’s house.
Your eyes wandered onto the car’s radio. The time read 8:45 and as you looked ahead you noticed the faint hue of the sun finally setting.
Jungwon turned his head, stealing a small glance at your face before he boldly placed his hand onto your thigh. A sudden wave of heat rushed through your face, a low chuckle leaving the man’s mouth as he analyzed your shy state.
“Don’t get all shy now.” His sweet voice teased. And from the corner of your eye you noticed the cocky smirk on Jungwon’s face, the sound of his car engine racing pulling your attention away from him.
“Stop teasing me and focus on getting me home.” You scoff.
“You mean my home right?”
You leaned your head back against the car seat, pretending to think even though you really wanted to go home with him.
For a moment, you didn’t speak up. And Jungwon wasn’t the type to wait forever.“I gave you a chance to answer.” He mumbled giving your thigh a firm squeeze.“Now you’re definitely going home with me.”
────୨ৎ──── ────୨ৎ──── ──୨ৎ──
As Jungwon’s car came to a stop, you quickly unfastened your seatbelt, the journey home had been filled with jokes and playful banter.
The front door slammed shut, Jungwon’s body leading you through the dark hallway before pulling you into his bedroom.
The cool air of Jungwon’s room instantly made your body relax. You softly kicked off your shoes, placing them near his bedroom door.
You hadn’t noticed it before, but right on his dresser sat a small photo you had taken when the two of you had gone on your first date.
A loud groan left the man’s mouth, as he shuffled over to his wooden night stand, he hurriedly unbuttoned his shirt. His muscles relaxing after being held tightly against the stiff fabric.
Your eyes landed onto the work uniform that had been tossed onto the floor, Jungwon’s hand tiredly found his face. You couldn’t stop the sad smile from forming on your face, it was never easy seeing someone you cared about looking so drained and restless.
Your body slowly approached Jungwon, pulling his hands away from his face. His eyes fluttering open as he melted into your touch.
“I’m sorry baby, I can’t cheer you up right now.” His voice softened as he rested his forehead gently against yours.“I’m just so tired.”
Taking note of his tired state, you guide him over to his bed, pulling the cover over his body as he lazily stares up at you.
Although you had stayed at Jungwon’s house a few times, everything was still new to you. You didn’t bring any clothes with you, and since the relationship was technically still fresh you didn’t feel comfortable leaving your clothes over at his house.
“Just take a shirt from the dresser.” He muttered.
You nodded before walking over to his dresser and slipping into one of Jungwon’s oversized t-shirts. The scent was all too familiar, reminding you of every sweet moment you had shared with the man.
He will never see this shirt again. You chuckled to yourself as you folded your clothes up neatly.
After changing, you ran your hands through your hair, tying it back into a loose ponytail. At home, you followed a strict night routine. It consisted of skincare, reading a book, and lastly, having your nightly tea.
You stumbled back over to his bed, sliding in on the opposite side of where Jungwon lay. "Thanks for coming to get me.” You spoke, your voice barely above a whisper.
Letting out a soft mumble, Jungwon’s large arm reached out, pulling you firmly against his chest. His grip then tightened around your waist, as he softly nuzzled his head into the crease of your neck.
Squeezing your eyes shut, it had become impossible to stop the flushed expression from spreading across your face.
As you laid wrapped up in Jungwon’s arms, the loud storm from earlier had calmed down. You were finally able to forget about Gianna’s cruelty.
And for the first time all day, your mind was able to rest. With you being anchored up to Jungwon, you knew everything going forward would be okay.

It was mid-afternoon, and you somehow ended up in the middle of your local gym. Jungkook stood in front of you warming up. Deep down you knew him inviting you here was a trap.
You were never the working-out type; the most you did was go for walks, and that was occasionally. In your free time you enjoyed trying out new baking recipes, but Jungkook insisted on you going and doing something he liked today.
It didn’t take much convincing; hell, who would say no to watching a hot man flex and flaunt his muscles? Definitely not you.
Jungkook was dressed in a black sleeveless shirt paired with matching sweats. Your eyes fell onto his arms, specifically his biceps. His body was so toned that it was almost impossible for you to not stare.
“Why aren’t you stretching?” He questioned adjusting the strings on his sweats as you continued to stare at him, your cheeks turning an embarrassing shade of pink.
You cleared your throat, now looking him in his eyes as you shrugged. “Worry about yourself; I’m about to stretch.” You replied smartly, stretching out your arms first, then moving on to stretch out your legs.
Jungkook was now walking over to where the flat bench press rack was. You watched carefully as his hands firmly gripped the cool metal; his body now lying back, he picked up the heavy barbell, and the sleeveless shirt began to tighten against his chest as he began to work through his reps.
You folded your arms with a teasing grin on your face; you continued to carefully watch Jungkook’s every move. You could tell he was purposely showing off, by the way that usual slight smirk crept over his face and how his eyes never left yours.
He lets out a loud groan, sitting up and placing the barbell back onto its rack, then moving his hand to wipe the dripping sweat off of his forehead.
You then quickly stepped towards Jungkook, handing him his water bottle, the grin never leaving your face as Jungkook began taking large sips of his water.
“Alright, princess, it’s your turn to get sweaty.” He muttered jokingly, lifting himself up and grabbing your hand. “I don’t know why I agreed to this.” You whined following behind as Jungkook led you towards where the dumbbells were placed.
He looked through all the dumbbells, picking up one that wasn’t heavy.
“10 squats while holding this.” He ordered, placing the dumbbell into your hands, a small frown plastered onto your face. You really thought that Jungkook would start you off with something simple and easy.
“Don’t look at me like that.” He chuckled, reaching over to grab himself a dumbbell. “I’m not making you do it alone.” That immediately made you smile; you watched as he demonstrated the workout. He even explained to you what this specific workout does for your body and how important it is to keep your body healthy.
“Are you ready?” he asked, patiently waiting as you nervously braced yourself. "Yeah, I think I am.” You replied.
The two of you power through the ten reps, Jungkook counting each one out loud with a proud smile on his face, his face distracting you from the pain that was building in your thighs.
By the tenth rep, you softly set the dumbbell down, sighing loudly and placing a hand on your hip. "It's definitely time for a break.” You chuckled, walking over to Jungkook, resting your head against his chest.
"Okay, we can take a quick break.” He replied, placing a kiss to your forehead and wrapping his arms around your waist.
You melted into his touch, enjoying the feeling of his warm hands being wrapped around you. “My water bottle is empty; I’m going to run over to the water station to refill it.” You mumbled, pulling your head back.
Jungkook’s grip on your waist slowly loosened, his hands falling to his side as he nodded. “Can you take mine too, princess? I’ll be waiting right here.”
And with that, you took both water bottles and began the short walk down the hall to where the water station was located. You took the lid off of Jungkook’s cup, filling it up first.
Your hands moved quickly when it came to topping the cup back up; you set it to the side before filling up your own cup. It was taking longer than it should’ve because your cup was significantly larger than Jungkook’s.
On the other side of the gym, Jungkook was sitting on the bench patiently waiting for you to come back. He ran a hand through his hair, taking steady breaths while looking around the crowded gym.
He was a regular here, but he typically came late at night. So it was shocking for him to see how packed it got during the day.
“Jungkook?” A voice called out, pulling the man’s attention away from whatever it was that he was looking at. “I didn’t think I’d run into you here.”
Once his eyes landed on the girl standing in front of him, he physically felt his chest tighten. It was no one other than Yuna. The girl you found Jungkook chatting with that one night at the party.
Seeing her in person made him feel guilty all over again; he let out a small breath, raising his hand to cover his face.
“Didn’t I make myself clear when I told you to never speak to me again?” He spoke firmly, pulling his hand away from his face; he enjoyed seeing how uncomfortable Yuna became once she heard his words.
“I just wanted to see how you were doing." She scoffed, crossing her arms, her eyes traveling up and down Jungkook’s body. She took a step closer, completely ignoring the man’s dismissive tone.
“I thought we had a good time together. Don’t you remember how much fun we had?”
Yuna was disgusting and careless; she would do anything without thinking of the consequences behind it. That’s just who she was. If someone took note of how many relationships she has ruined, the list would be long. The girls on campus all knew Yuna as the home wrecker. And ironically, she found the title funny.
Jungkook stood up now, looking down at the shorter girl, a glint of anger on his face. He knew his day was ruined once Yuna approached him. “I only want Y/n. Anything that happened before was a fucking mistake. Do yourself a favor and walk away.”
You finished screwing the top back onto your cup. Turning around, you vividly saw Jungkook speaking to some girl. You watched from a distance as her face drops and she walks away.
Walking back over, you hand Jungkook his water bottle, his hand softly rubbing against yours. Taking a small sip from your cup, you stare up at his face. Silence lingers in between you two as Jungkook’s eyes search yours, looking for any sign of you being upset or hurt.
Your heart began pounding against your chest. You had no idea what you had just witnessed. And as badly as you wanted to believe that it wasn’t anything malicious, you couldn’t stop yourself from thinking of the worst.
“That’s the girl from the party?” You ask your voice low with uncertainty and confusion. No matter how hard you try to disguise the way you’re feeling, your voice always betrays you.
Jungkook’s face softens as he pulls your body down onto the bench beside him; he wastes no time explaining everything to you. "Yes, that’s her, but I told her I’m with you.” He replied, pulling you in even closer so that your body is softly resting against his.
“I would never jeopardize what we have again; I don’t break my promises."
You listen to every word that leaves Jungkook’s mouth, and you want to believe them; you truly do. Jungkook was so close to perfect; he took care of you and went above and beyond to get you everything you wanted; however, deep down, there was still that small amount of doubt that lingered within you.
You nod softly, resting your head against his chest as one of your arms wraps tightly around his back.
Silence consumed the both of you. Jungkook let you rest against him for a moment before standing you up and grabbing your belongings.
He knew to cut today’s session short; it was clear that your head wasn’t in the right place for you to continue the workout. “I’ll take you back home.” He muttered, grabbing your hand, pulling you along to the gym's exit.
────୨ৎ──── ────୨ৎ──── ──୨ৎ──
The silence in the car was nothing like the silence from last time. Jungkook’s hand was holding tightly onto your hand that rested against the center console.
And although there wasn’t anything being said, the thick tension between you and Jungkook spoke volumes on its own. Your eyes wandered along the trees that passed as Jungkook continued to drive, his hand occasionally squeezing yours.
You were trying your best to silence all of the noise that was clouding your mind, and with Jungkook sitting right next to you, you could honestly say that it made everything feel a little lighter.

Dimmed lighting surrounded the newly updated bar; the scent of hard liquor mixed with the bitter smell of fresh sweat lingered in the air, causing a rush of uneasiness to fill your body.
This place wasn’t somewhere you’d go during your free time. There was a large group of people surrounding the wooden bar, chanting as one of their friends chugged down a large amount of alcohol.
You forcefully moved yourself through the crowd of drunk, dancing bodies, protectively pulling Lia along as the two of you approached the two familiar figures you’d see almost every day.
“She wouldn’t go for that shit.” Hoseok chuckled, slamming his glass onto the counter as Jungkook and Taehyung bickered back and forth.
"Exactly, she wouldn't, so stop saying stuff like that.” Jungkook commented, rolling his eyes in annoyance. But his expression immediately changed when he noticed you and Lia approaching.
Lia instantly rushed over to her boyfriend, pulling him into a warm embrace, while you stood sneakily behind Jungkook.
“I saw you walk over here, Y/n; don’t do that.” He muttered slightly, turning his body so that he was now directly facing you.
A warm smile plastered onto your face, your hands reaching out to pull the taller man into a hug. “You’re lucky I even came; it’s so hot and crowded in here,” you mumbled softly against Jungkook’s neck.
He chuckled lightly, pushing one of the bar stools out, motioning for you to take the seat directly next to him. “I thought you enjoyed going out and having a little drink.”
Jungkook smiled to himself, because he knew you only tolerated drinking on special occasions. Any other times, it would usually be an immediate no.
“Funny joke kook, but I guess I’ll have just one drink.”You grinned scooting your body closer to Jungkook’s.
His hand fell to your waist giving it a firm squeeze as he ordered drinks for you and him. The two of you had recently became more affectionate, Jungkook would stay over days at a time, only leaving if he really had to.
It was probably a shocking sight for your friends, since they had never seen you and Jungkook be so affectionate in public before.
“Hyung why didn’t you tell me Jungkook becomes all soft once Y/n gets around?” Taehyung teased, taking another small sip from his half empty glass.
There was now a line of empty glasses placed down on the bar, Jungkook’s hand was still resting on your hip as he continued his small conversation with Taehyung and Hoseok.
You sat there silently your hand resting softly against the wooden bar.“Bro that’s bullshit.” Jungkook chuckled loudly, pulling his hand away from your waist and quickly standing up.
“I’m going to the bathroom, don’t move, I’ll be right back.” He whispered into your ear before he hurriedly disappeared through the crowded bar and into the hallway where the restroom was located.
Your hand twirled around with the straw in your glass as you softly said a few words to Lia. The two of you began giggling about silly old memories, it was beautiful knowing that the two of you had seen each other in the worst, and best states. Which is what made the two of you rely on each other.
The volume of your laughs slightly raised, and suddenly the loud music that played throughout the bar, became background noise. The colorful neon signs on the wall hummed, casting a faint haze over the crowded room. You and Lia were really enjoying the heartwarming conversation.
That was until you felt a light touch on your shoulder. You immediately looked towards Hoseok, watching as he gave whoever was behind you a warning glare.
“You’re beautiful, can I buy you a drink?” The man asked, slightly raising his voice. Your body stiffened up once the heavy scent of alcohol and cheap cologne filled your nose.
A sick feeling crept into your stomach.“No,I’m okay.” You replied firmly, looking straight ahead, hoping that your dismissive tone would force him away, and once it didn’t you began to grow even more anxious.
The man’s body began to stumble as he repeatedly cursed to himself. His words slurring and barely audible.
This was one of the reasons why you preferred staying home in the comfort of your own bed. There wasn’t anything you hated more than weird men approaching you and touching you.
Him getting upset over you saying no made everything worse. It made him angry, and he was already drunk. You began to worry, not only was he a stranger, but you also didn’t know what he was capable of.
“Man who the fuck are you?” A familiar voice called out, causing your head to move in the direction of the furious voice. You watched carefully as Jungkook marched over angrily, approaching the man who could barely stand up straight.
Jungkook began harshly shoving the man, saying something you couldn’t really hear from where you were sitting.
Your eyes widened in shock once you noticed the drunk man’s body fall to the floor. Hoseok and Taehyung rushed over to Jungkook, intervening before anything could further escalate.
Jungkook yelled a few more words before he took his seat next to you. His body was still tense, and when his arm wrapped around your waist and pulled you firmly against his side, the jealous expression was written all over his face. He then glared into the crowd, his eyes staring down anyone who dared to even look in your direction.
Words couldn’t explain how livid he was. His breathing came out in harsh, ragged breaths. “I should’ve just stayed with you,” he growled, placing another order for more drinks.
He hated seeing another man approaching what was his. In the past it wasn’t like Jungkook to care if someone approached the girl he was with. If she wanted to entertain other men, he’d let her. But with you, that mindset wasn’t going to work. You were nothing like the girls he was used to, and that was one of the reasons why he adored you. You were determined to always make good choices, caring for yourself and also others.
Jungkook’s heart then began to feel heavy. It was terrifying for him to witness how much being around you really changed him as a person. His actions were reflecting how he felt about you, and the thought of someone making you uncomfortable made him go crazy.
No matter how many times you tried to stop Jungkook from drinking more, he would simply just mutter “I’m fine,” before downing another two shots. The cool liquor rushed down his throat, the burning sensation causing his face to immediately scrunch up.
Your eyes rolled, knowing that tonight was going to be long.
────୨ৎ────
After about 30 minutes the group stands up to leave. You sigh once noticing the way Jungkook’s legs wobble as he attempts to stand.“I literally told you to lay off the drinks." You muttered in annoyance.
The smile on Hoseok’s face dropped whenever he realized that he would have to help haul Jungkook outside to your car. He grabbed Jungkook’s arm, throwing it over his shoulder following behind as everyone made their way to exit the bar.
The group barely managed to step outside when Jungkook first began complaining. He didn’t want anyone touching him but you.
He groaned into the thin air, "Hyung, stop. I want to walk with Y/n.” Jungkook whined, pulling his drunk body away from Hoseok.
The older man then gave up, letting go of the tight grip he had on Jungkook.“Go walk with Y/n then.” Hoseok snickered watching as his younger bestfriend reached out for your hand.
You shook your head tiredly, intertwining your fingers tightly with Jungkook’s as the two of you walked in the direction of your car. You were definitely going to tease him about this every chance you get.
“Be safe, I’ll see you guys tomorrow.” You mumbled to everyone after getting Jungkook safely inside the car. Lia then ran over quickly giving you a hug before saying her final goodbye and getting into the car with Hoseok.
────୨ৎ────
The ride home was insanely silent, all that could be heard was the soft hum of the car’s engine and Jungkook’s soft breathing. Your gaze stayed focused on the road ahead of you, one hand resting on the arm rest while the other controlled the car.
Once the car stopped in front of a red light you quickly glanced over at Jungkook. His seat was reclined, and a slight pout rested on his face.
“Are you pouting because it was time for us to go?” You questioned, patiently waiting to hear what Jungkook had to say, his eyes rolled and his mouth remained closed as he began to ignore you.
The flashing green light pulled your focus away from him, you were now only a few minutes away from your apartment, and in response to Jungkook’s unusual silence you sighed loudly.
“Keep ignoring me then.” you muttered under your breath as you pulled into a parking spot right in front of your apartment complex.
You removed your keys from the ignition and grabbed your purse in a swift motion before exiting your white car. The cool wind blew against your body sending a chill throughout your body, on the other side of the car Jungkook was attempting to remove himself from the vehicle.
You groaned loudly slamming your car door shut, before rushing over to help Jungkook’s stumbling body.
You lifted his arm over your shoulder, struggling to carry his heavy body up to your apartment door. You unlocked your front door, quickly slipping inside, while trying your best to support Jungkook’s dead weight as you guided him into your bedroom.
You rushed over to your closet, grabbing out a pair of sweats Jungkook had left behind whenever he had previously stayed over. You then looked through a pile of your clothes, stumbling upon a shirt he had also left.
“Can you put these on please?” You asked handing the clothes over to him.
He nodded swiftly lifting his shirt over his head, tossing it onto the bottom of your bed.
You walked into your bathroom getting yourself changed, hoping that by the time you were done, Jungkook would be all changed and ready for bed.
Once changed you put your hair into a ponytail, desperately needing it to be out of your face. After you were done, you switched the bathroom light off, and entered back into your bedroom.
And to your surprise Jungkook was resting comfortably in your bed, you walked over to the kitchen grabbing two cold bottles of water placing one on your nightstand, and holding the other in your hand.
“Kook, drink this for me.” You spoke softly, lifting the water up to his mouth as he softly took a large sip. You could tell that he was now feeling better.
It was already pretty late, and normally around this time you would already have been in bed, you could already feel the tiredness creeping upon your body, so you quickly turned the all the lights off, before walking back over to your bed.
At this point Jungkook had been waiting painfully for you to lay down, and he was getting impatient as he watched you moved around the room.
“Come lay down.” He mumbled urgently, grabbing your hand and pulling your body onto his. You yelped in shock, as you softly rested against Jungkook’s chest.
“You didn’t have to pull me down, I was coming.” You spoke tiredly, moving your body onto the soft surface of your mattress with Jungkook’s hands now wrapping firmly around you.
“You didn’t move fast enough.” He replied, snuggling his head into the crook of your neck.
Although tonight didn’t go as planned, Jungkook knew that there was no place he would rather be, he enjoyed all of the times you would allow him to stay over and cuddle up against you.
Since it was something entirely new to him, he wasn’t used to having someone take care of him whenever he got too drunk, or sick. Well, that was until he met you.
You never let him miss a meal, and always welcomed him in with open arms whenever he wanted to come over. All these things were the reasons why Jungkook knew you were the one. Jungkook made a promise to himself, to always love you and protect you, even when things got hard. Because deep down he knew life without you, would never be worth living.
You didn’t just bring him comfort, you brought him peace and showed that you really cared for him, and his well being.
That conversation with Hoseok truly helped him discover his motivation for wanting to change for you. He finally felt like he was doing something right.
The only thing that mattered to him now was your happiness, and he was ready to do whatever it took to protect the relationship he was working so hard to build.

The sound of boxes clattering against the table pulled Jungkook’s attention away from his phone. Hoseok was currently re organizing everything in the kitchen cabinets, him and Jungkook had bought all new kitchenware since it had been a while since anything had changed inside the dull apartment.
The two friends had decided that it was time to give their home an update, they went out purchasing all new furniture, paintings, and plants that they most likely wouldn’t take care of. In reality they were only doing this because Lia had made a teasing comment about the apartment looking soulless and lonely.
“ Hobi- hyung the glasses and cups go on the other side.” Jungkook spoke up pointing towards the other side of the cabinet where Hoseok had mistakenly placed the plates.
Hoseok’s hands froze, noticing that Jungkook was right. A frustrated groan left the man’s mouth as he began removing every single dish, setting them all on the counter.
“Jungkook this is why I told you to get up and help.” Hobi replied sternly shooting an angry glare towards his best friend.
Jungkook’s hands raised in surrender and he finally rose from his seat, his hands moved quickly as he began helping Hoseok put everything where it belonged.
“ I heard that Lia ran into you at Y/n’s house the other night.” Hoseok smirked leaning back to see the look on Jungkook’s face.“you two made up?”
Judging by the way Jungkook’s face turned red, the answer was pretty obvious. It wasn’t unusual for the man to get all flustered just by hearing your name.
" Yeah man, whenever you and Lia went back to your room, me and her had a good talk.” Jungkook smiled, thinking back to that night you and him decided to further pursue the shared connection.
“So you’re not going to fuck her over again right?” Hoseok asked, wanting to confirm that Jungkook’s intentions were pure.
Jungkook ran a hand through his hair, his tongue softly running over his lips, as his mind began to think about you. He hated how Hoseok felt the need to ask him if he was being serious about you, since the two had known each other since forever, Jungkook felt that Hoseok should’ve known that his intentions with you were pure.
It made him feel embarrassed. To those on the outside looking in, Jungkook was nothing but a player who led girls on, played with their feelings until he felt like he was no longer benefiting from the situation.
“ Yes hyung I told you I’m becoming a changed man.” He snickered walking over to the fridge, pulling out a cold water bottle taking a sip with a smirk plastered onto his face.
“ Hey I’m just making sure, I know how you are.” Hoseok mumbled, now completely finished with setting everything up in the kitchen.
“ Well, there is something I want to talk to you about.” Jungkook added, his voice steady as he followed Hobi into their shared living room.
“ What’s up?”
Hoseok’s body dropped onto the sofa, his back resting softly against the cushions as he gave Jungkook his full attention.
“ Moving forward I want to be better for Y/n, I don’t know how to go about everything though.” the man stressed, taking a seat next to his older friend. “ I’ve been working hard to get rid of all my old bad habits but I don’t feel like that’s enough.”
Hoseok’s face softened as he listened carefully to the words that came out of Jungkook’s mouth. It was weird seeing Jungkook speak so vulnerably about the things that were weighing heavy on his mind.
“ You’re going to be fine man.” Hobi replied studying the look on Jungkook’s face.“ You should plan an at home date. Go over to her place, cook for her, and tell her how you feel.”
“ Cook for her?” Jungkook repeated, chuckling nervously as a hand ran down his face.“ Hyung, do you really think she’ll trust me to prepare an entire meal? I sent food to her job, and I doubt she even touched any of it.”
Hoseok laughed loudly, it was hilarious watching Jungkook get worked up over something so simple. He knew that Jungkook could be a little oblivious when it came to romance and small gestures. Y/n was very easy to read, she was too nice to let food go to waste, especially when it’s coming from Jungkook.
“I’m pretty sure she ate all of the food you sent her. Lia told me that Y/n literally called her while she ate and expressed how much she hated having to go to sleep every night without talking to you.” Hoseok spoke, sitting up in his seat, he was now even more determined to get you and Jungkook into a good spot in the relationship that was slowly growing.
A smiled formed onto Jungkook’s face, deciding that maybe Hobi was right. If he wanted things to work out with you, the best thing he could do was to put his best foot forward, and to make decisions he was fully confident in. “At home date it is.” He mumbled, softly closing his eyes as he thought about the way you would react whenever he randomly popped up at your doorstep.
The next afternoon, Jungkook rushed to the grocery store gathering all the ingredients and things he would need to prepare you a nice dinner. He made sure to pick up your favorite juice, and of course he couldn’t forget the pack of cookies you always talked about.
After purchasing the groceries, Jungkook headed back to his car. He was now driving excitedly as he thought about the way you’d react whenever he finally made his way over to your house.
He knew that you would be shocked, but also happy to see him. Once his car pulled in front of your apartment complex that’s when his nerves started to hit.
His palms began sweating; he moved his hands gently against the steering wheel, as he carefully pulled into a parking spot.
He quickly turned his car off, gathering all of the heavy grocery bags and heading up to your apartment door.
His hand shuffled into his pocket as he searched for the spare key you had recently given to him. As he held the key in his hand, a wave of hesitation hit him.
He didn’t want to invade your privacy and now he was wishing that he had sent a text before coming over. Jungkook knew that you trusted him, but the last thing he wanted was to overstep your boundaries.
After realizing that he had been standing in place for too long, he shook those away before placing the key into the slot.
He unlocked the front door pushing it open, before hurriedly walking over to your kitchen counter where he placed all of the heavy bags down.
Meanwhile, you had just finished taking a shower and had no idea someone was in your home. You moved quickly, grabbing your phone that had been sitting on the counter while you showered before subconsciously grabbing the doorknob.
The bathroom door slowly opened, and you quickly stepped into the main area of your apartment, after that long shower, your body was desperately in need of a cold glass of water.
Your feet tapped lightly against the wooden floors as you quietly approached the kitchen; your attention was fully focused on your phone. You continued to watch the random baking video, amazed by the creative cake recipe.
Your feet came to a stop once you stood in the center of your kitchen. You set your phone on the counter just as you were about to grab yourself a cup; you noticed a tall familiar figure standing a few feet away from you.
Jungkook was standing near the stove, his hands moving the spoon swiftly as he seared up the sauce for the creamy pasta he decided to cook.
A loud, shocked sound left your mouth as your body slightly jumped. Your heart and mind immediately began to race. Jungkook’s body turned towards you nervously, his eyes widening as he noticed your frightened face.
"Fuck, I didn’t mean to scare you, princess.” Jungkook muttered, quickly throwing the spoon onto the counter, his eyes now following every little move you made.
You placed your hand over your racing heart, taking a deep breath, hoping that it would help to calm you down. But hearing Jungkook call you princess only caused your body to grow weak and jittery.
"Well now that you’re out here, I wanted to inform you that I’ll be taking over your kitchen tonight.” He added, turning his attention back towards the pot where the sauce had been slowly cooking.
You walked over to where Jungkook stood, standing almost directly behind him. Your gaze followed his hands, watching as they added some seasoning and cheese.
"Wow, Chef Jeon, I never knew you could cook!” You grinned teasingly, placing your hand onto his back, giving it a playful scratch.
"I also didn’t agree to this; I was supposed to catch up on some work.” You added, softly leaning your head against the man’s broad back.
The feeling of his muscles tightening up under your touch caused a wave of butterflies to flutter in your stomach. A soft chuckle left the man’s mouth as he continued to work his magic in the kitchen.
“Go do that.” He replied, scooting the large pot of sauce off of the hot isle. “I want to cook for you. Let me take care of you, please."
It was incredibly embarrassing how much his words were affecting you. Jungkook made you feel like the happiest girl in the world. His unexpected visit to your apartment was proof that he was working above and beyond to show you that he meant it when he said he wanted to change for you.
Jungkook was so lucky that he had a sliver of self-control left. It was truly a struggle to resist the urge to simply stand there, clinging to the strong man, and dismiss your homework.
Letting out a frustrated sigh, you buried your face into your hands, taking a moment to regain your composure. It would be irresponsible of you to abandon your studies just to be wrapped up under Jungkook, and with that floating through your mind, you slowly began dragging your body to the living room, where you focused all of your attention onto the bright screen of your laptop.
For the next hour, you sat in the living room going over and adding stuff to your PowerPoint presentation, trying your hardest to make everything neat and easy to read.
Over the years you had dealt with professors who paid close attention to little details, although it could get annoying having someone correcting you on small unimportant things; eventually the constructive criticism helped you to develop a strong skill of overanalyzing things.
As you continued pointing out the things that needed to be reworded or removed, Jungkook stood in the kitchen, hovering over the stove as he moved quickly to get everything plated.
The smell of garlic filled your nose as the two of you indulged in a small cheesy conversation. Once noticing that Jungkook was walking over to the kitchen table with two plates in hand, you quickly slammed your laptop shut, rushing over to help him set everything down.
After both plates were placed onto the table, Jungkook politely pulled out a chair, gesturing for you to take a seat.
A warm smile curled onto your lips as you sat down. "Mm, this smells good.” You muttered, looking up at Jungkook, watching as he walked back into the kitchen.
"Wait, don’t taste it without me.” He mumbled, grabbing two cups and pouring your favorite juice into them before walking back over and placing the cups onto the table.
He then quickly took his seat, excited to have you try the special meal he made just for you. Jungkook had never cooked for anyone except for himself and Hoseok.
Once you noticed Jungkook’s head nodding, you instantly picked up your fork, watching him carefully as you both took a bite of the pasta.
The satisfying taste of the creamy pasta melted onto both of your tongues.
For a moment the table was completely silent. Jungkook’s gaze was plastered directly onto you, his eyes studying your face to see if you liked the way everything tasted.
After hearing you let out a soft hum, his face instantly lit up. “You like it?" He questioned softly, watching as you continued to devour the pasta.
In response, your head nodded frantically, a slight smile threatened to appear on your face. Your eyes fell onto the table, now looking at the two cups in front of you.
"Kook, is this my favorite juice?" you cheesed, grabbing the cup and taking a small sip of the sweet strawberry-flavored juice.
As you stared across the table looking at Jungkook’s face, that’s when everything began to hit you.
Jungkook had spent his entire day making you a delicious dinner while also going out of his way to pick up your favorite juice. This whole gesture was just so kind and thoughtful; it made your heart melt.
Especially since no one had ever done anything this special for you before.
"You're going to turn me soft if you keep doing stuff like this.” You muttered, getting up from your seat, walking over to Jungkook, and wrapping your arms tightly around him.
You didn’t know it yet, but Jungkook’s love language was definitely acts of service, and him sneaking in and cooking for you was his way of showing just how much you really meant to him.
Jungkook sat there frozen for a minute, shocked by the sudden wave of affection that he wasn’t used to receiving from you. He was so used to you having your guard up that it almost felt weird having you wrapped around him like this.
Jungkook then stood up from his seat, instantly shaking those cloudy thoughts away, his arms immediately wrapping around your smaller frame, his chin resting softly against your shoulder.
"You deserve to have these special things done for you every single day, princess," he whispered lowly, his voice softly vibrating against your ear. "You know I meant what I said, right? I’m going to be that guy who takes care of you, okay?”
Hearing his deep, genuine voice whisper against your ear sends a rush of heat straight to your face. You can feel your heart pounding loudly against your chest, and in an instant your breath catches.
It was impossible for you to look him in his eyes; you knew that your face would be red from how hard you were currently blushing. You lean more into his embrace, stuffing your face into his firm chest while letting out a firm sigh.
You were desperately hoping that Jungkook wouldn’t ask to see your face. "Thank you, Kook.” You mumble, rubbing your hand softly along the muscles of his back.
You just knew if Jungkook continued to talk to you the way he was, that your tough reputation would be non existent.
The two of stood locked together in the middle of the kitchen for what felt like hours. Jungkook slightly pulls himself back, confidently looking down at you. His rough hands remained on your waist as he slowly smirked to himself when noticing the light blush that had spread across your face.
You rushed to cover your face with your hands, but it was too late, he had already caught you. “Did you know that I bought these for you?” He questioned, reaching over the counter and grabbing the large container of cookies.
He held them up to your face, chuckling at the way your eyes instantly lit up.
Jungkook then wrapped his hand around yours, gently tugging you towards the soft couch that had a large blanket sprawled out over its armrest.
He comfortably sat himself down, tugging you down onto his lap, his arm instinctively wrapping around your waist, as his other arm forced the container of cookies open. Your head rests softly against his shoulder; the feeling of being in his arms couldn’t compare to anything else in the world.
“ Here.” His hand nudged a cookie towards your mouth. You chuckled quietly, taking a small bite of the chocolate chip cookie, allowing the warm chocolate to melt away in your mouth.
Jungkook then took a bite of the same cookie, muttering in satisfaction as the sweetness of the chocolate filled his body.
You leaned your body more into his embrace, listening to the steady beat of his heart. You grabbed the soft blanket, placing it over you and Jungkook. After what felt like an hour your eyes began to flutter. “Goodnight.” You mumble, closing your eyes and allowing sleep to take over.
Your limp body laid firmly against Jungkook’s chest. He slowly lifted you up so that he could change his position on the couch.
His legs were now stretched out with your body resting softly on top of him. His eyes landed on to your face, his hand reaching down and tucking your hair behind your ear before pulling the plush blanket back over your shoulders.
He watched as you slept peacefully, thinking about how lucky he was to have been able to make it up to you.
Jungkook knew that change didn’t happen overnight, but in his heart he knew that he would do anything to prove to you that he was the one for you.
His mind had already been made up, and he was doing his best at being more vulnerable. The last thing he wanted was for you to feel like you had to fight for his love.
Change isn’t easy at all, but acknowledging and learning from where you went wrong was definitely a great start.
“I won’t ever let go of you princess.”Jungkook whispered placing a soft kiss onto your forehead.“I mean it when I say I’ll always be here no matter what.”

“I need a break; this is too much.” A groan left your mouth. Colorful highlighters spread across your desk, open textbooks laid out on your bedroom floor, and an open notebook filled with detailed notes sat directly in front of you.
After spending two whole hours fully dedicated to studying, your brain was most definitely in need of a break.
Leaning back into your chair, a content sigh left your mouth as you stretched out your arms. Just then, the sound of keys jiggling and your front door opening echoed throughout your apartment.
There was no need for you to check and see who was entering your home, because you immediately knew who it was.
Loud and heavy footsteps hurriedly approached your bedroom door, and before you knew it, Jungkook was excitedly barging in; he was happy to be taking care of you.
"Alright, it’s time for you to take a break.” He smiled, walking over to your desk with two bags from your favorite takeout spot in hand.
Playfully rolling your eyes, you quickly stood up from your seat, taking one of the bags from Jungkook’s hands, rushing to see what he had gotten for you.
"Wow Jungkook, you’re such a gentleman—"
But before you were able to finish your sentence, the sound of your front door opening suddenly startled you.
Lia entered your kitchen, tossing her keys onto the counter, then began walking to your bedroom. "Y/n, why is your door unlocked?” Lia muttered, unknowingly entering the room where you and Jungkook stood.
“Oh my God, what the fuck!” she semi-yelled, allowing her phone to slip out of her hand. You watched as her eyes grew wide; the way her face scrunched up let you know that she was confused.
Her eyes went from Jungkook to the bag in his hands, then lastly landed onto your slightly red face.
“Wow, Y/n, why didn’t I know about the reconciliation between you and Jungkook?”
Lia had been the person you relied on the most; she had always been there for you. And it was unusual for you to keep something so important from her.
You chuckled nervously, already feeling guilty about not keeping your best friend updated on the situation between you and Jungkook.
"I'll just step out for a minute.” Jungkook stated, quickly leaving the room that was suddenly filled with a random wave of heaviness.
He sat on your couch, waiting patiently for you and Lia to finish up with the well-needed conversation.
"Y/n, we always tell each other everything; it’s weird that I’m the last one to find out about this.”
The muffled sounds of you and your best friend talking back and forth spilled into the living room.
Jungkook tried his best to ignore the awkward conversation that was happening inside of the other room, his attention landing onto the box of chocolates he had previously bought you.
Walking over to the kitchen, he analyzed the half-empty box, smiling once he noticed that you had been slowly enjoying the rich chocolate.
Just then your bedroom door creaked open, and out walked Lia. She looked less upset now, her hand reaching for her keys as she exited back out the front door.
A few moments later you made your way over to Jungkook; both food bags were now set on your coffee table.
"So what did you get me?” You asked, slowly pulling out the styrofoam container that was slightly heavy. Jungkook’s eyes rolled. “I got you the only thing you like," he muttered, opening his own container of food.
The two of you began eating the hot meals, softly chatting in between bites of food, creating a comfortable space, even after the small conflict between you and Lia.
"Are you and Lia okay? I didn’t know me showing up would cause a mess.” Jungkook spoke lowly, reaching over the table to grab a napkin.
You nodded your head, taking another bite of your burger. "We're okay; I just forgot to tell her about the conversation we had that night back at your place," you muttered.
An understanding look settled onto Jungkook’s face. He had always been a good listener, paying attention to every little thing you had ever said. It wasn’t like that with everyone.
He listened carefully as you explained to him how your friendship with Lia grew throughout the years. Something within him shifted once hearing how passionate you were about your friendship with Lia.
Jungkook wanted you to have that same passionate feeling about him. He wanted to be the person you relied on, the one you’d call first whenever you’re excited or sad or even if you just needed someone to talk to. Jungkook’s feelings for you ran deeper than you thought. You didn’t notice how he would stand closely behind you whenever the two of you were out, protecting you from danger that wasn’t even there.
His gaze settled onto your face, watching as you chewed your food. Jungkook always caught himself staring at you. You were just so beautiful to him. At times he would just sit there studying your face. He noticed the small beauty mark that was placed just above your lip. He noticed how your smile twitched whenever he would tease you. And still, you were always too distracted to notice.
Smirking to himself, he then grabbed his water bottle, taking a small sip, with his eyes still glued to you. He wondered if you could feel how hard he was staring at you.
Too busy focusing on your food, you hadn’t noticed Jungkook staring at you so deeply. “I think I’ll save the rest for later.” You spoke softly, closing the styrofoam container and setting it onto the coffee table.
You then fixed your position on the couch, placing your feet onto Jungkook’s lap. The sudden movement caused a sensation of warmness to fill up the man’s body. The two of you hadn’t had many intimate interactions. It felt new and somehow refreshing.
The two of you sat there for a moment, staring at the random show that played on the television. Your head slightly rested against the couch, and out of the corner of your eye, you noticed Jungkook’s hands slowly moving towards your hip.
And before you knew it, Jungkook’s strong arms pulled you closer. You were now nearly sitting on his lap, you gasped shocked by how easily he had moved you.
You waited to see if he would say something. And when he didn’t, you swallowed hard.
A low groan erupted from the man’s chest. His head leaned closer to yours. His lips were now extremely close to your ear. “You don’t seem too eager to get back to your books,” he muttered, his voice deep and low, sending vibrations through your body.
“ You’re distracting me.”
“ You started it by putting your feet on my lap, love.”
Your heart started to dance when hearing those words leave Jungkook’s mouth. You desperately wanted to keep up your unbothered persona, yet you couldn’t help but to melt whenever his arm wrapped firmly around your waist.
“I can’t get up when you’re clinging onto me.” you mumbled, leaning your head against his chest, breathing in the warming scent of Jungkook’s musky teakwood cologne. His grip then tightened, there was no way he would let you leave him to go stare at work you could finish later.
You sighed in defeat not even attempting to put up a fight. Deep down you had been waiting for Jungkook to make an intimate move, the last thing you wanted right now was to be out of his arms.

The campus was crowded with a variety of scholars. You had just completed your last class of the day with the intentions of going home, getting cozy, eating your favorite ramen, and lastly, getting some well-deserved rest.
You walked in a steady pace, focusing your attention onto the phone held in your hand while you checked to see if your paycheck had finally hit.
Recently there had been many shifts available at the diner, and you wasted no time putting in extra hours. You wanted to pamper yourself with some new clothes. Although you were already making a decent amount of money, what's the problem with earning a little more?
Your feet came to a stop once you stood in front of your apartment door. Setting your backpack onto the concrete floor, you reached into your purse, shuffling through it until your grip landed on your house keys.
Quickly unlocking the door and pushing it open, you grabbed your backpack, throwing it over your shoulder as you entered the apartment.
The comforting scent of vanilla filled your nose, causing a sensation of warmth to fill your entire body.
You had spent these last few days cleaning and reorganizing your entire apartment. Since you already weren't feeling well, coming home to a cluttered house would only make you feel worse.
Walking over to your bedroom, you hurriedly set down the heavy backpack, placing it neatly near your desk.
After getting yourself settled and changed, you went over to your kitchen, rushing to prepare your ramen.
Once the ramen was all done, you walked over to your couch, enjoying your meal while also watching your favorite tv show.
You took another bite of ramen, intrigued with what was happening in the show, and just as you finished eating, a loud knock coming from the front door echoed throughout your entire apartment.
A confused look settled onto your face. Standing up and quickly walking to the kitchen, you placed the used bowl into the sink.
You then rushed over to the front door, looking out the peephole to see who was banging on your door.
When you noticed that no one was there, you pulled the front door open.
Your eyes fell to the floor where chocolates and a beautiful bouquet of flowers sat. Your eyebrows knitted together.
Reaching down, you picked up the flowers and chocolates safely bringing them into your home.
You weren’t completely clueless about who had sent you these items, but before making any assumptions, you scanned the bouquet to see if there was a note stating who the flowers were from.
And just as you suspected, there sat a pink envelope signed with those two recognizable initials.
A soft sigh left your mouth. After catching Jungkook with another girl at that party when the two of you were supposed to be getting to know each other, you hadn’t spoken to him since.
You were embarrassed to say the least. After putting your pride aside and giving Jungkook a chance to redeem himself, he still somehow managed to prove your initial point right.
And how ironic was it for him to think that sending sympathy flowers and writing a pathetic note would make you suddenly change your mind on how you currently felt about him.
Softly biting your lip, you pondered on whether it was a good idea to read the note that Jungkook had sent.
After deciding that it was best if you read the note, your fingers quickly tore open the envelope. And to your surprise, the note was long and well written. As you began scanning over the letter, you felt your eyes start to water.
Dear Y/n, I know that me sending you these gifts won’t change how I’ve made you feel these past few days, but I want you to know that I really do want to continue getting to know you. And although I have taken advantage of what we were slowly becoming, I do want you to know that I am genuinely sorry for what I’ve done. I feel shitty for embarrassing you. And I promise that if you give me another chance, I’ll prove to you every day that you’re the only one that I will willingly change for. Just please unblock me.
Quickly wiping away the tears, it was hard to put into words how you felt. Technically, you and Jungkook weren’t together, and it felt wrong being upset with someone you weren’t dating.
But you couldn’t deny the fact that there was something special going on between the two of you. You had been so vulnerable with Jungkook, and that’s what made his actions hurt worse than what they should’ve.
Setting the note onto the counter, it felt wrong just leaving the beautiful flowers to die.
So there they sat, in a nice vase on top of your nightstand right next to where all the precious pictures of you and Lia stood.
────୨ৎ──── ────୨ৎ─── ──୨ৎ──
It has been days since Jungkook sent those flowers to your doorstep. Avoiding him had never been easy. It was really silly of you to think that changing your entire schedule would work to force Jungkook out of your life.
After grabbing your iced coffee, you hurried to exit the cafe, desperately hoping that Jungkook wouldn’t follow you out.
As you attempted to safely escape, the sound of Jungkook desperately calling your name rang through your ears, immediately causing your body to pause.
Jungkook quickened his pace, easily catching up to your frozen body. “Y/n, will you please just talk to me?” He muttered, his voice sounding different. And not in a good way.
You slowly turned around, now fully facing the taller, muscular man. A shaky breath left your mouth before you began to speak.
“What do you want from me?” You sighed softly. It was taking everything in you not to break down in front of Jungkook.
Your eyes scanned over his pale face; the usual cockiness was completely gone. And for some reason, that pained you.
“Did you get my letter?” He asked, staring deeply into your eyes as his hands fisted with the hem of his shirt.
This whole interaction was rubbing you the wrong way. You knew you weren’t in the wrong, but somehow you still felt guilty. By just looking at him, you could tell something was wrong.
“Yes, I got the letter.” You replied, taking a small sip from your coffee. “I get that you’re sorry, but I just can’t pretend that your actions didn’t hurt me.”
And with that, you offered him a soft smile before walking away, hoping that it would provide him with a little bit of comfort until you felt that the time was right for you two to have a formal conversation.
────୨ৎ──── ────୨ৎ─── ──୨ৎ──
“Hyung, can you at least tell me if she’s okay?” Jungkook groaned, following behind Hobi as the two of them safely entered their shared apartment.
“Bro, I told you already! She’s fine, and whenever she’s ready to talk, I promise I’ll let you know!” Hoseok replied, closing the apartment door before storming into his bedroom, slamming his door shut.
A hand ran down Jungkook’s face before he then made his way into his own room, softly throwing himself against his large mattress.
He had tried everything to get you to talk to him again. He had meals sent to you whenever he knew you’d be working a late shift at the diner, but that somehow didn’t work; even though food was literally the key to your heart.
It was becoming impossible for him to go so long without talking to you. Everything he did reminded him of you. Every time Hobi or Lia mentioned your name, he felt his heart physically shatter.
As his head sunk into his pillow, Jungkook heard soft knocks come from his bedroom door. “What is it?” he whispered, keeping his head buried between his pillow as he waited for a response.
“We’re having a game night, you should come out here.” A soft voice spoke, one that he immediately recognized.
Jungkook practically jumped out of his bed as he rushed to open his bedroom door.
And there you stood in front of him. A small smile spread across his face, and he watched as you awkwardly sat there waiting for him.
Jungkook rushed back into his room, running a comb through his hair. His movements were fast and desperate as he tried his hardest to make himself look presentable.
After a few minutes, Jungkook exited his bedroom, following behind you as the two of you walked into the living room.
Hoseok was sitting on one of the sofas, a slight grin on his face as he watched Lia struggle to pull out one of the Jenga pieces.
“Oh fuck this game!” Lia slightly yelled, as the tower in front of her collapsed. A small chuckle left your mouth as you took a seat on the couch across from Hoseok.
Jungkook had wandered off into the kitchen for a few minutes before returning with an open can of beer in his hand.
Lia took her seat next to Hobi, which meant the only seat left open was the one directly next to you.
Jungkook took a large sip of his beer, before sitting down next to you. And you would be lying if you said you couldn’t feel the tension between the two of you.
It did feel weird being in the same room as him again. A talk was needed, and no matter how much you dreaded talking about your feelings, you knew it had to happen.
The games carried on, joy and loud laughter filled up the apartment as everyone took turns playing the games.
After an hour, the laughter had died down. Lia was now following behind Hobi to his room, since it was late and she was tired. The group decided it was time to call it a night.
You slowly stood up, stretching out your arms before turning your body fully towards Jungkook.
“Do you want to talk about everything? I think I’m ready now.”
Jungkook’s head turned towards you, a shocked expression settled onto his face as he immediately agreed.
His hand reached out to you, softly tugging you back down to sit directly next to him. There was a brief silence, until you had finally gotten the courage to speak.
“ Well, I just want to know why you thought it was a good idea to go hang out with that girl after you had planned a date with me.” You spoke firmly, your eyes staring deeply into Jungkook’s as you waited for him to reply.
Jungkook nervously licked his lips as he thought of a good way to respond to your question.
“I didn’t think that it was a good idea. I just allowed myself to follow the temptation.” His eyes fell to his hands as he replied, he knew his reasoning was dumb. But he wanted to be completely honest with you.
You were trying your best to be understanding, but it was a hard pill to swallow now knowing that there wasn’t a real reason behind Jungkook’s actions.
It was like your feelings weren’t taken seriously. Knowing the type of person Jungkook was, it would be easy for him to go and do things without fully thinking of the consequences. But you knew if there was ever a chance of things working out, boundaries would definitely have to be set.
“Well, I don’t think there is any point in us getting to know each other if you’re easily tempted.”
Jungkook’s head shot up as he quickly reached for your hand, intertwining his fingers through yours. He wasn’t going to let you walk out of his life again.
He would do everything in his power to make sure you never ignored him anything.
“No, Y/n, I promise you’re the only person I have interest in. I’m only focused on you. Did you read my letter? I want to be better for you.” he pleaded, giving your hand a warm squeeze as the words left his mouth.
You had spent weeks thinking about what you’d say whenever you and Jungkook had this talk. And somehow you still ended up being lost for words.
Your gaze wandered from his eyes to where his hand held yours.
“I did read the letter. And I’m so serious when I say this, Jungkook. This is your last chance. If you mess up again, then there’s no going back.” You muttered firmly, giving him a warning glance, and watching the way his face lit up.
Jungkook quickly pulled you into a tight hug. After what felt like forever, you had finally forgiven him. “I’m going to show you that I mean what I say.” He mumbled, nuzzling his head into your neck.
For a moment, the two of you just sat there. Jungkook kept a tight grip on your hip as he continued to cling onto you.
And as the apartment grew completely silent, the slight glint of the moon worked to symbolize the new beginnings of your relationship with Jungkook.

Loud music could be heard clearly as you and Lia urgently walked through the front door of the large modern house.
Earlier you had gone out with Jungkook to the food truck festival; the two of you had tried a variety of different foods, and you could honestly say that you enjoyed yourself.
But right now, the events of earlier were the last thing on your mind. When Lia invited you to go out with her, you couldn’t just say no.
Now the two of you were soaking up the feeling of finally going out together after so long.
You and Lia had pre-gamed prior to arriving, and of course you both were feeling tipsy. “Let's go to the bar first.” Lia suggested grabbing your hand and pulling you along as she walked towards the bar.
Being here at the party right now was definitely a big step out of your comfort zone. You felt a bit out of place, but nonetheless, you still tried to make the best out of everything.
You had downed about three shots so far, and now everything was starting to feel a little lighter. A smile fell onto your face, and you pulled Lia over to the dance floor, moving your body to the music, finally allowing the drinks to take over your body.
Lia giggled, enjoying the sight of her best friend actually enjoying herself. The two of you spent some time dancing together until you finally grew tired.
“ I think I want another drink.”
And that’s how you and Lia ended up sitting on a couch that overlooked the bar and dance floor. You took a small sip from the red cup, your eyes scanning over the crowds of people.
“Hobi said he’s stopping by later.” Lia mumbled; the bright screen of her phone shone directly on her face as she scrolled through her phone. “He's going to drive us home; just let me know when you’re ready.”
You nodded, leaning your head against your best friend’s shoulder; the shots from earlier were really kicking in now. You began to feel dizzy, and your vision was slightly starting to blur.
The loud bass from the music began to ring throughout your ears, mixing with the loud chatter of the party, and an unfamiliar feeling started to twist in your stomach.
Just then you noticed Hoseok approaching the couch where you and Lia were sitting. “The two of you are tapping out already?” He chuckled, taking a seat on the couch, easily lifting Lia up and placing her onto his lap.
“We’ve been here for about an hour. What did you expect?” Lia replied, tucking her head into the crook of her boyfriend’s neck.
As the couple continued their conversation, your eyes lazily began following the bodies of those standing near the bar. Your vision was still slightly swimming, but as you sat up in your seat, your gaze landed firmly onto the familiar figure.
Your breath caught in your throat, a chilling sensation rushing down your spine, as the grip on your cup began to loosen.
You watched as the woman rubbed Jungkook’s arm, a loud laugh escaping her mouth, as he stood there looking her up and down with an obvious smirk on his face.
Hobi’s eyes followed the direction you were looking, and immediately his body tensed up. He lightly tapped Lia’s thigh, causing her to look up.
“What the fuck!” Lia gasped, lifting off of her boyfriend’s lap.
Meanwhile, you were already standing up and walking over to where Jungkook stood. “Wait, Y/n!” Lia yelled slightly, quickly catching up to you.
“I just want to know what they’re talking about.” You spoke, your voice slightly cracking as you pulled your best friend towards the bar.
You didn’t want Jungkook to notice you, so you decided to stand a few feet back from where he was currently standing.
“I really enjoyed going out with you; it’s been what, two weeks?” The girl giggled, her hand shifting to rub against his chest softly.
“Is that so?” Jungkook responded, his gaze tracing over her body; you continued to watch, mostly focusing on his facial expressions and the way he carelessly spoke.
“I wouldn’t mind taking you out again.” He added flirtatiously.
As those words left his mouth, you physically felt yourself getting sick. You couldn’t tell if the sudden queasiness was from the pain of being betrayed or all of the liquor you had drunk, but whatever it was didn’t make you feel good at all.
His head then turned as he quickly checked his surroundings, unaware that you were standing right there blending into the large crowd.
“Fuck, Lia, I can’t.” You mumbled, your voice dropping just slightly above a whisper. The pain you felt was conveyed through your slightly cracked voice.
And before you could stop them, tears began to fall from your eyes.
Lia moved quickly to try and comfort you, gently wiping your tears with her thumbs, as she repeatedly told you that everything was going to be okay and to stay strong.
“I'm about to walk over there, I can’t just stand here and watch.” You sighed, quickly taking a deep breath, then wiping the last of your tears.
Lia nodded supportively. Her usual protective demeanor returned as she followed behind you closely.
Together, the two of you stepped out of the crowd, heading directly towards Jungkook, no longer blending in with the others.
You took one last step, and there you stood, face to face with Jungkook.
As he looked up, he immediately noticed you standing in front of him.
The smirk that was plastered on his face seconds ago was long gone, now replaced with a look of regret as his face turned completely pale.
“I was right about you.” You chuckled angrily, pushing his shoulder back once, then twice; the unknown girl took a few steps back slowly, attempting to leave the awkward situation.
You were so busy taking your anger out on Jungkook that you completely missed the girl sneaking her way into the shadows of the crowd.
“What are you talking about?” Jungkook’s body tensed, unaware that you had already witnessed his whole interaction with the girl.
His first instinct was to play dumb, his eyes wide with the fake confusion you should’ve expected to receive from him.
“You know what? Fuck you! I shouldn’t have even tried to get to know you!” Your voice boomed, though luckily the music was loud enough to keep the situation only between you two.
“Whatever this was.” You pointed between the two of you. "It's over, I don’t ever want to see you again.” Your voice rang through Jungkook’s ears.
He immediately knew that he had messed up; his eyes shot wide as guilt rushed through his body. His hand reached out to you, but you quickly pulled away.
“You don’t mean that.” He pleaded, grabbing your hand and intertwining his fingers through yours.
You harshly removed your hand, looking up at him with pure rage and disgust. “I do mean it. I mean it from the bottom of my heart.”
And before he could get a chance to reply, you stormed off, with Lia and Hobi following behind; all three of you were now headed home.
Jungkook repeatedly cursed to himself, running a hand down his face, not knowing what to do anymore; he picked up a shot, quickly drinking it before rushing to leave the party.
On the other hand, you were in the back seat of Hoseok’s car, sitting in complete silence as you stared out the window. Rain lightly began to tap against the car window, only making you feel worse than before.
The streetlights began to blur, your hands wrapped tightly around yourself as a few tears fell from your eyes. You quickly wiped away the tears, desperately wanting this sad feeling to go away.
And in the front seat, Hoseok sat silently, but from the way he was gripping the steering wheel, it was clear that he wasn’t happy with what his best friend had done.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Lia began going on a rant about how weak of a man Jungkook was and how she wouldn’t allow him to get away with what he did.
You watched as the car turned down the familiar street, you gathered your belongings quickly, and once the car came to a stop, you muttered a soft thank you.
You pushed the car door open, stepping out onto the sidewalk, and closed the door. Then you walked over to where Lia was sitting; she pushed her door open quickly, pulling you into a warm, comforting hug.
“I love you, Y/n. I’ll call you once I get home." Lia stated, giving your hand a firm squeeze once the two of you pulled away from the hug.
Lia was the only person who could tell you that she loved you, and you’d actually believe it.
A small laugh fell from your mouth. “Okay, I love you too. You guys get home safe.” You replied, waving to the car.
You then made your way up to your apartment, and after getting changed, you rushed over to your bed, throwing yourself into the soft mattress. Sighing loudly in attempts to calm your striking nerves.
As you lay on your bed, you began to feel your phone vibrate urgently. Assuming that it was Lia, you quickly reached for your phone.
That sense of urgency then died once you realized it was just Jungkook repeatedly spam-calling and texting you.
Jungkook: Y/n can we please talk?
Jungkook: I promise she doesn’t mean anything to me.
Jungkook: Can you just please reply?
A loud sigh left your mouth after you read some of the texts the man had sent. It’s crazy because you had just started to really like Jungkook, and he had messed up before the two of you even had a chance to even think about becoming something.
On the other side of campus, Jungkook sat in the living room of his and Hobi’s shared apartment. Empty beer cans sat on the coffee table as he stared blankly at the wall in front of him.
Hoseok hadn’t made it back yet, giving Jungkook some time to sit and clear his head. Except that wasn’t possible; no matter how hard he tried, the thoughts of you just wouldn’t leave.
You ignoring him made it worse; he, of course, felt bad, and that’s when he remembered the words you said during one of your first conversations.
The words “They always end up alone and unsatisfied” flooded his mind; he felt like a piece of his heart had been ripped from him because you were right.
He did always end up alone and unsatisfied; he felt exactly how you said he would. And that only made him regret what he did even more.
Just then he heard the front door unlock and then open.
In stepped Hoseok with that sad disappointed look on his face. The man quickly kicked his shoes off, placing them on the shoe rack, before he turned towards his younger best friend.
“ Why’d you do it man?” He questioned, the disappointment could be heard loudly as he spoke.
Jungkook’s eyes fell to the floor as he repeatedly shook his head. “I don’t know, hyung. I never wanted to hurt her.”
And Jungkook definitely meant what he said. Although his actions showed the complete opposite.
For a long time Jungkook was used to never taking women seriously; he had never been with a woman who actually had pure intentions, it was always about his status. And now as he sat here thinking about it, he realized that Y/n would’ve been the first ever woman to see him for who he truly is.
But there was one thing about Jungkook that not many knew. And that was that he never gave up on things that he wanted and loved.

It was typical for many to believe that everything happens for a reason. Growing up, you were always told to appreciate the good things that come into your life while they last.
But as time went on, your view on many things began to change. It had been 2 weeks since your date with Jungkook. There had been small talk here and there, but there wasn’t any consent communication.
And in that small amount of time, you had really thought about the possibility of becoming something with Jungkook.
It all felt too fast, going from hating someone to them constantly running through your mind to having this strong feeling of uncertainty.
You slammed your laptop shut, letting out an exaggerated sigh as you pushed your chair away from your desk.
No matter how hard you tried to distract yourself from thinking about Jungkook, you continued to find yourself smiling at the thought of running into him at the cafe and seeing that dumb cheesy grin that somehow only appeared on his face whenever he was around you.
You quickly stood up, snapping yourself back into reality, as you focused your attention onto the loud knocks that were coming from your apartment door.
You rolled your eyes, slowly walking to the door. “Who is it?” You muttered, reaching for the door handle, waiting to see if someone would respond.
“Open up.” The deep voice called out; a chill rushed through your spine as you immediately recognized the voice.
A nervous sigh left your mouth as you pulled the door open. There stood Jungkook, dressed in his normal attire, which was a black hoodie paired with gray sweats.
“Why are you here?” You questioned stepping to the side, allowing the tall man to enter your dorm.
Jungkook rolled his eyes, walking over to the small living room and taking a seat on your white fluffy couch.
After freshman year, you managed to upgrade to a dorm apartment. You followed behind Jungkook, taking a seat right next to him on your couch.
“Do I have to ask again why you’re here?” You repeated watching as his eyes scanned over your well-decorated apartment.
His eyebrows rose slightly; he didn’t like the tone you were using when speaking to him. “Am I not allowed to stop by and check up on you?” He replied defensively, sinking down more into your fluffy couch.
“I never said that, but it is weird for you to randomly show up.” You mumbled, tucking a piece of hair behind your ear as you turned your body towards Jungkook.
“Are you saying this because we haven’t seen each other for a couple of days?”
Your heart sank as those words left his mouth, because of course that’s the reason for your words. It wasn’t normal for the person you had just gone on a date with to randomly go ghost and leave you hanging.
You swallowed hard, thinking about a good way to respond to Jungkook’s question.
“If you think it’s normal to schedule plans with someone and then wait until the day of to tell them you can’t make it, then I’m kind of concerned.” You spoke, visibly rolling your eyes at the man’s immature antics.
“I didn’t intentionally cancel on you, Y/n; something unexpected came up.”
“ Yea right.”
“How about we go wherever you want right now?" He suggested setting his phone onto his lap.
You stared at him, thinking about if you should take him up on his offer; you slightly bit your lip, really pondering on what to do.
“Fine, you're going to take me bowling tonight, and then tomorrow there’s going to be a food truck festival. I expect you to take me to both.”
Jungkook’s mouth twitched into a small smirk, he liked how demanding you were being, it caused a little thrill to run through his body.
“If that’s what you want, ma’am.” He chuckled, watching as a warm smile formed onto your face; it was currently 5:30 pm. You had spent most of the day catching up on some homework and a little bit of studying.
“I'll go get ready now!” You excitedly hopped up, rushing to your bedroom to get changed into something more presentable.
It wasn’t until you stepped out of your clothes that you realized you had still been dressed in your pajamas.
You instantly cringed to yourself before stepping into the shower and washing yourself up.
Once you felt like you were clean, you stepped out of the shower and began the process of getting yourself ready.
After throwing on a comfy outfit, you walked over to your vanity, putting your hair into a cute messy ponytail. Taking a final look at yourself, you quickly grabbed one of your favorite floral fragrances and sprayed it all over yourself.
You then rushed over to your bed, grabbing your purse and stuffing your phone and house keys into it before walking over to your bedroom door, exiting the room, and walking over to the couch where Jungkook sat.
“ I’m ready!”
────୨ৎ──── ────୨ৎ─── ───୨ৎ───
Jungkook’s car came to a complete stop; the two of you were now in front of the bowling alley, and it was becoming hard for you to contain your excitement.
You unblocked your seatbelt, pulling the passenger door open, then carefully stepping out onto the sidewalk.
Shutting the car door, you waited for Jungkook to walk over to you.
The two of you then began walking toward the large doors of the bowling alley.
Upon entering the building, your body was hit with cool air as loud music played throughout the background.
Jungkook purchased a bowling lane, grabbing you both a pair of bowling shoes.
You followed closely behind as he led you towards your designated lane.
“Here, put your shoes on; I’ll type our names in.” Jungkook spoke, walking over to the scoreboard, typing in both of your names, and ensuring that the game was started.
He then walked back over to you; sitting down in the chair next to you, the both of you began putting on your bowling shoes.
After the two of you were settled, the game began.
You started the game off, firmly rolling the ball down the lane; a loud thud followed behind the ball as it crashed into 6 pins.
A victorious look plastered onto your face as you cheered happily. Jungkook shook his head; a small smirk crept onto his lips as he watched you hit the majority of the balls.
You then returned to your seat, allowing Jungkook to take his turn.
“Watch and learn.” He muttered, grabbing a heavy purple ball and lifting it to his chest. He took a few practiced steps before sending the ball gliding harshly into all of the bowling pins.
You sat in your seat defeated, watching as Jungkook celebrated his clean strike. “Hey! You got lucky that time.” You spoke, staring up at the taller man as he walked back over to where you were seated.
The two of you continued to bowl for about an hour before you were tired and ready to go. “Well, our time is up.” Jungkook sighed, snatching off his bowling shoes and placing them carefully on the floor.
“I'm tired anyways.” You replied, adjusting the lacing on your tennis shoes before sliding off of your seat and grabbing the borrowed bowling shoes.
The two of you returned the shoes, then began the short walk back to Jungkook’s car.
As you finally approached the car, Jungkook politely opened the car door for you, slowly closing the door after you safely entered his car.
He then walked around and entered the car on the driver's side.
Pulling the car out of the parking spot and back onto the main road, Jungkook’s hands firmly gripped the steering wheel, and the cool air from the A/C blasted throughout the car.
Low music played in the background while you and Jungkook engaged in a pretty interesting conversation.
The conversation had shifted from something casual to something more meaningful. The two of you talked about lifelong plans, dream jobs, and life after college.
Jungkook hadn’t known you for long, but that didn’t stop him from figuring out the things that you liked. He paid close attention to everything that you’d ever said, storing it inside his mind.
“And then I remember telling him that I specifically liked peonies, and even after me telling him that, he still bought me lilies!"
Jungkook chuckled lowly, listening attentively as you ranted on about your ex-boyfriend going out of his way to purposely make you upset.
“Maybe you should’ve picked a better man.” He responded, tilting his head towards you, that smirk never leaving his face.
You slumped down in your seat, annoyed by his horrible choice in words. “There aren’t any better men; they’re all copy and pastes.” You mumbled.
“ There’s me.”
“No, I know you’ve done all the things that I just complained about before.”
“It sickens me how little you think of me.” He groaned, slowing the car down before coming to a complete stop in front of the now red light.
“You literally canceled on me after promising me that we would go out.” You chuckled, resting your head against the car seat.
Jungkook’s jaw clenched tightly; his head slowly turned towards you. “So what? I’m making up for it right now, and tomorrow we’re going to that festival you told me about.”
You felt your throat tighten, he really didn’t see anything wrong with what he did. In that moment you began questioning if these dates were meaningless.
You swallowed hard, trying hard to contain that strong sorrow that threatened to spill out.
“See, I knew you were no different.” You muttered lowly, hoping he didn’t hear the words that had just left your mouth.
The only problem was he, in fact, did hear what you said. A small feeling of guilt filled Jungkook’s body. He wasn’t used to women being vulnerable; it was all new to him.
He couldn’t find the right words to say, so he landed on keeping silent. Not knowing that it would make everything worse.
The street light then flashed green, and Jungkook’s focus shifted back onto the dark road. You were now staring out the window.
Maybe your feelings of uncertainty were your way of protecting yourself from the hurt you’d feel in the future.
Silence stretched through the remainder of the car ride; it wasn’t until the car stopped in front of your apartment complex that you finally spoke up.
“Thanks for everything; have a good night.”
Jungkook’s face dropped; you had never seen him look so sad before, and it caused your heart to slightly ache.
“Does that mean you don’t want to see me again?” He asked pathetically, staring at you like if he’d blink, you’d disappear. There was an awkward pause as he waited to hear what you would say.
“No, aren't you taking me to the food truck festival tomorrow?" you replied, pushing the car door open slowly as you waited for a response.
He then let out a breath he didn’t even know he was holding. “Yes, I would still like to take you out tomorrow.”
You nodded, stepping out of the car, and just as you were shutting the car door, you noticed Jungkook switching his car off.
“ Can I walk you up?”
And somehow that small question convinced you to actually allow him to walk you up to your apartment.
Once you had reached your apartment door, you turned to Jungkook, watching as he stood there awkwardly.
“ I’ll be here tomorrow around 3 so be ready, okay?” He stated, running one of his hands down his face.
Your eyes lit up, your checks turning a light shade of pink. You nodded in response, then pulled him into a warm comforting hug.
“ Good night Jungkook, I’m looking forward to seeing you again tomorrow.” You mumbled pushing your apartment door open.
“ Good night Y/n.” Jungkook smiled, before turning around and heading back to his car.
As you stepped into your apartment, you quickly closed your front door. You then walked to your bathroom, smiling childishly as you got yourself ready for bed.
Right now you experiencing a whirlwind of different emotions. Not knowing if it was a good idea to continue seeing Jungkook or to end it before it became something serious.
You desperately needed to have a conversation with your best friend Lia.
Once you were all changed, you walked over to your bed, turned your light off, and then hopped onto your large bed, pulling the soft, fluffy covers over your body.
It didn’t take much for your body to fall into a deep slumber. The worries of tomorrow were silent; the only thing on your mind was waking up and seeing that handsome man you were slowly starting to have strong feelings for.

By 5:30 PM, your bedroom looked like a disaster had crashed through it. You searched your closet up and down, looking for an outfit that you felt was perfect.
There were clothes thrown onto your mattress and hangers discarded everywhere; honestly, your nerves were through the roof.
Then you remembered Jungkook’s words, "Just wear something comfy.”
A loud sigh escaped your mouth as you walked over to the mirror as you observed the two outfits you now held in each hand.
There were endless possibilities for a ‘comfy’ outfit. It could be sweatpants with a matching hoodie or a silk dress with slides; it was frustrating because you didn’t want to overdress, but you definitely didn’t want to underdress, since this was your first official night out with him.
After a few minutes of pacing, you finally found an outfit compromise: a pair of light-washed fitted jeans, a soft, cropped sweater that hung off your shoulder, and your silver designer slides. It was causal, comfortable, and well put together.
You then quickly moved to the bathroom, running a brush through your hair, allowing it to fall naturally. You touched up your makeup, applying a touch of lip gloss and some mascara. Every time your eyes landed on the clock that was set on your counter, you felt your heart pounding in your chest.
You then quickly moved to the bathroom, running a brush through your hair, allowing it to fall naturally. You touched up your makeup, applying a touch of lip gloss and some mascara. Every time your eyes landed on the clock that was set on your counter, you felt your heart pounding in your chest.
As the clock struck 5:58, you found yourself sitting on your bed, nervously swinging your feet as you checked to make sure everything you needed was in your purse, before zipping it up.
As you were about to finish, your phone buzzed in your lap.
Jungkook: I’m outside.
Leaving your room, you exited the dorm building, and the howling wind immediately sent a sharp chill rushing through your body.
The anticipation of wanting the date to go well clouded your body. Each step you took towards Jungkook’s car, you felt your stomach flutter.
You knew that this was your chance to show who you really were; although the two of you had just become friends, the possibility of being more really did something to you.
Once you approached the familiar black car, you quickly reached for the handle, opening the car door and rushing in to escape the biting wind.
As you closed the car door, your head turned, and your attention was now plastered onto Jungkook. He was dressed in an oversized black hoodie, and he looked incredibly handsome.
Seeing that he was also dressed in something relaxed caused your striking nerves to calm down quickly.
Jungkook’s head was leaned against the seat, and the moment that he saw you sit down, a visible smile crept onto his face.
“Hey." He spoke, reaching over and turning his radio down, allowing the music to lowly play in the background.
“You look beautiful." He added, his eyes looking at your face then trailing down to your outfit. You followed his gaze; it was pathetic how much of an effect those 3 little words had on you. A visible blush rushed over your cheeks and ears, and a smile revealed itself.
“Thank you, you also look good.” You replied, pulling the seatbelt across your body and buckling it in.
After adjusting yourself slightly in the seat, you then spoke up again. “I see that you’re wearing a hoodie, despite the fact that it’s warm in the car, and also I still don’t know where we’re going.”
Jungkook chuckled, switching the car gear, looking over his shoulder as he pulled out of the parking spot.
“Just sit back and relax; you’ll see where we’re going.” He replied, now driving down the dimly lit road. A sigh left your mouth, the excitement still there, but because you were impatient, it was hard getting yourself to sit back and wait.
Your attention was now caught on the trees and random buildings that passed by as Jungkook continued to drive, his hand now resting on the center console.
“Since I can’t know where we’re going, can I at least know how long it’ll be until we get there?” You asked, slightly sitting up, turning your head towards him.
In return he slowly shook his head. “It’s about 15 minutes away," he muttered, glancing at you for a brief second before turning his focus back onto the road.
Now knowing that the destination was only 15 minutes away, you began thinking of the possible locations.
Maybe that one popular rooftop restaurant—wait, no, that can’t be it. He told me to dress comfy. you thought to yourself as you continued watching the various types of trees pass.
And in no time, those 15 minutes flew by. You watched as the car exited the highway and began moving onto a large parking lot.
Your eyes immediately landed on a vintage sign. “Wait, you’re taking me to a drive-in movie?” You gasped excitedly, lifting up from your seat, turning your body towards Jungkook.
Once your eyes met his, you couldn’t help but notice the warm smile that was now plastered onto the man’s face.
"Surprise." He chuckled as he pulled the car into a spot that offered a good view of the projection screen. He dimmed his headlights and then changed the radio to the station that provided the movie audio.
“This is so beautiful, Jungkook!” You complied, pulling your seatbelt off and taking in your surroundings.
Jungkook lifted from his seat, reaching into the backseat, as he grabbed a large tote bag that was filled with many different essentials.
Placing the bag onto his lap, you watched as he pulled out a large, fluffy blanket, followed by loads of snacks. Your face lit up, seeing that he had gotten all of your favorite snacks; it consisted of chips, a couple of different candies, popcorn, and two of your favorite chocolates.
“I got a little help from Hobi hyung; he also tried to steal most of it, but I managed to stop him.
You giggled, feeling your heart beating rapidly as you acknowledged all of the thought that Jungkook put into getting you all of your favorite snacks and making sure that you’d have the most memorable first date.
“Come here.” He muttered, shaking out the large blanket and draping it over the both of you, closing the empty space between you two.
As the movie progressed, the giant screen illuminated the dim interior of the car, reflecting soft shadows on Jungkook’s face. Despite the movie being a highly anticipated action film, your focus kept drifting away from the movie and landing directly onto him.
He opened the popcorn bag, the savory aroma of salt and butter instantly filling the space between you; he held it out toward you first.
“Lady’s first.” He spoke softly, a gentle smile playing on his lips. “Go for it.”
You smiled, reaching into the bag and grabbing a handful of the popcorn. Pulling your hand back, you felt your hand brush against Jungkook's; you immediately felt the butterflies start swarming in your stomach.
“Thank you, now hand over the chocolate before Hobi randomly appears and takes it.”
“Hey, don’t even joke about that.” He teased, reaching his hand into the tote and grabbing out one of your chocolates.
An hour flew by as the movie played as background noise, your full attention focused on Jungkook as the two of you indulged in a deep conversation, commenting on silly parts and laughing at the actors' horrible acting.
Eventually, your attention returned to fully focusing on the movie, and you instinctively began reaching into the popcorn bag, and to your surprise, your hand had completely covered Jungkook's. In response, he froze.
He then slid his fingers in between yours, giving your hand a firm squeeze.
Although it was hard, you tried your best to keep your composure, not wanting him to see how flustered you really were.
Jungkook’s eyes never left the projected screen; you, on the other hand, kept stealing slight glances at him, hoping to receive some sort of reaction.
You were amazed at how suddenly you switched from disliking him to now holding hands with him.
As the end credits rolled onto the screen, indicating the end of the movie, Jungkook began placing all the remaining snacks back into the tote.
He then placed the tote on the backseat, then looking over at you, and watching as you pulled the thick blanket over your shoulders.
“So did you enjoy yourself?” He asked, fixing his position in his seat, now navigating the car out of the crowded parking lot and back onto the highway.
“I had so much fun; I’ve never done anything like this, so it’s definitely one for the books!" you smiled, leaning your head against the cool passenger window. You knew your time together would come to an end soon, and for some reason you didn’t want it to end yet.
As Jungkook’s car approached a red light, his head turned, his eyes falling onto you; he analyzed you and immediately noticed how your demeanor had changed.
“Do you want me to stop and get you some food?” He asked, staring at you deeply, like he needed to know every single thought that was racing through your mind.
“Actually, yes, if you don’t mind, I’m not ready to go home yet.” You admitted, slightly nibbling on your bottom lip, embarrassed that you really admitted to wanting to spend more time with Jungkook.
“Mm, is that why you’re frowning, not ready to leave me yet?” He teased, holding that strong gaze that was staring directly into your soul.
“Don't make me take it back.” You replied, rolling your eyes, pulling your eyes off of his, and now looking at the time ‘8:15’ written largely in bold letters.
As the streetlight turned green, Jungkook’s eyes returned back to the road, continuing his route to the nearest restaurant.
I guess the saying, time flies by when you’re having fun, was true. It felt like the two of you were only together for less than 30 minutes, and now, you were going to do anything to get more time with Jungkook.
You watched as the car passed by a variety of different fast food restaurants, confusion spread throughout your body, as you watched attentively curious as to where your next destination would be.
The more he drove, the more familiar you became with the area.
And before you knew it, the car had parked in front of one of the best diners in the city, not to mention that it was your favorite.
Just thinking about the freshly grilled burgers and the well-seasoned fries made your stomach growl.
The two of you stepped out of the car and entered the diner.
This specific diner was built when you were a freshman; you could vividly remember the first time you had ever come here, and for years it had been your go-to spot.
The two of you got seated; Jungkook insisted on sitting next to you rather than across because it was “better," not that it mattered to you.
The two of you had already placed your orders; the only thing left to do was wait.
“I thought the movie would have more suspense. Wasn't it supposed to be a mystery?” You asked, taking a small sip of your lemonade, waiting for Jungkook to reply.
“Yes, but it felt more like a comedy.” He answered, placing his head onto his hand. Music played lowly throughout the diner, chatter erupted, and the smell of grilled patties and fried chicken filled up the restaurant.
The conversation shifted from the movie to talking about hobbies and personal preferences.
“I actually hate running; like, you’ll never see me running unless I really have to.” You muttered, watching Jungkook’s face turn into a frown.
“Well, I typically run every day. I go run, and then I usually go to the cafe right after.” He commented, placing one of his hands in his lap.
Your eyebrows rose, shocked by the new information you had found out. You and Jungkook had seen each other multiple times at the cafe; now knowing that he usually would run before, it could’ve been a coincidence that the two of you would arrive at the same time.
“Really, I just wake up and go straight to the cafe—" Just as you were about to finish, the waitress returned with your food in her hands. She placed both plates in front of you and Jungkook. You muttered a soft thank you before diving right into your food.
Jungkook followed right behind you, taking a large bite of his bacon burger.
A content sigh left his mouth as he began to nod his head and point to the burger. “This tastes nothing like the burgers from your diner.” He blurted, watching your face as it had scrunched up.
“Of course it’s going to be better than the one I work at; my job is technically a low budget version of this one.” You replied, taking another bite of your own bacon burger.
A satisfied groan left your mouth as you chewed on the perfectly grilled burger that was topped with applewood. “I'll never get over the taste of this burger.” Jungkook grinned, enjoying every single bite of his burger. You nodded, agreeing with his words.
The two of you continued to enjoy your meals while the conversation continued to flow smoothly. And once the two of you were done, Jungkook paid then tab.
The two of you returned to the car, full and satisfied, not only with the food, but also with how well today had gone.
Jungkook then started up his car, starting the journey back home, not before making sure that you enjoyed yourself.
“ I’m definitely taking a rest day tomorrow.” You mumbled, leaning your head against the back of your seat. Jungkook chuckled at your antics, content that he was able to make your day enjoyable.
After 20 minutes, the car came to a complete stop, you unbuckled your seat, turning to Jungkook before you began speaking.
“ Thank you so much for today, I really enjoyed myself and I’m looking forward to hanging out with you again.” You spoke, smiling as the words left your mouth.
“ I’m glad you had fun, text me once you’re inside and I’ll be back to get you on Friday.” Jungkook replied, visibly relieved that you were planning on hanging out with him again.
You then reached over the center console, embracing him in a warm hug that lasted a few seconds before you pulled away.
You could now clearly see the light tint of pink rush to Jungkook’s cheek; after saying your final goodbyes, you stepped out of the black car, shutting the door, and then walked up to the dorm entrance.
Before entering, you happily waved to Jungkook, watching as he waved back.
You then entered the building, still happy from how well your day had gone. Lia was definitely going to hear about this.

A harsh breeze blew onto your feet where the covers had slipped halfway off your body. With your face stuffed in your pillow, you were still captured in a deep sleep. Completely exhausted from arriving home late last night.
Suddenly, your phone began to buzz.
The persistent notifications jolted you awake from your slumber. With a groggy hand, you rubbed your eyes and rolled onto your back, staring blankly at the ceiling. Reaching over, you grabbed your device, your eyes blinking against the bright screen light, squinting as you read the two texts sent by an unknown number.
Unknown number: Hey, I remember you said you don’t have much fun, so I wanted to know if you’d go to this new spot with me?
Unknown number: Text me when you’re up.
A shock wave rushed through you, wiping the last bit of drowsiness from your body. You didn’t even need to save the number to know that it was Jungkook texting you.
The teasing comment about you not having much fun, was a sharp reminder of the conversation the two of you had the night before.
A small smile played on your face as you clutched your phone to your chest. Jungkook had actually texted you.
As you finally swung your feet out of bed, anticipation flooded your mind. You weren’t aware of where he was taking you, and that is what made everything so much better.
You didn’t know what to expect, and you enjoyed the feeling of being surprised. Stepping out of bed you eagerly replied back to his message, not wanting to waste another minute pondering on what to say.
You: Took me a second to figure out it was you Jungkook. Yes I’ll go with you.
After pressing send, you tossed your phone back onto the bed, you couldn’t hide the joy that was spreading throughout your body.
Still, you needed to refuel your body, before dealing with the frantic racing of your heart. The only thing on your mind, was getting a large vanilla iced coffee from the campus cafe.
It took twenty minutes for you to throw on some clothes, and soon enough, you were pushing up the cafe’s modern glass door.
The rich aroma of roasted coffee beans and freshly baked pastries hit you upon the moment you stepped inside, the atmosphere offered a refreshing welcoming contrast to the chill of the morning air.
As you stepped in line, you unlocked your phone, checking to see if Jungkook had replied, and to your surprise, he had.
Jungkook: Be ready by 6.
You smiled, quickly typing out a response as you followed the small line moving forward in-front of you.
You: I’ll be ready.
Finally, pulling your attention off of your phone, you look up, noticing that you are next in line. After ordering your coffee, you waited patiently for the barista to hand you your drink.
As you waited, your eyes scanned over the people seated inside the cafe. Your gaze landed on a familiar figure; you watched as their broad shoulders held their phone in one hand and their coffee in the other.
Just then, the barista returned, placing your large coffee onto the counter while offering you a welcoming smile. You smiled back, picked up the cup, and immediately headed towards the table.
“Well, look who we have here.” You said, setting your coffee down before pulling out a chair to take a seat.
“Woah, where’d you come from?” Jungkook’s eyes went wide, completely shocked to see the girl he was just texting suddenly appear in front of him.
You chuckled, enjoying the flustered look that was plastered onto his face. Jungkook knew you were a regular here, but did he expect to see you sitting in front of him mere seconds after texting you? Of course not.
Taking a small sip of your iced coffee, you watched as he ran a hand through his hair in a desperate attempt to calm his racing heart.
“I wasn’t expecting to see you until later.” Jungkook admitted it; he rested his forearm on the table, reaching over to grab a napkin placed between you two. He slid a plate forward. "Want some?”
He held up a cheese danish, watching as your eyebrows arched. He found the little look of confusion on your face extremely cute.
“Actually, yes, I do.” You replied, breaking off a piece.
The two of you settled into a comfortable rhythm; you couldn’t help but laugh as you listened to Jungkook explain how his night went after dropping you off at home.
“He interrogated me for an entire hour, asking me a million questions about you.” He rolled his eyes, slightly annoyed at the fact that you found amusement in his suffering.
You were mid sip, really enjoying the story, when Hoseok randomly appeared behind Jungkook. The shock caught you so off guard. You instantly began coughing, nearly spitting your iced coffee all over the table.
Jungkook’s eyes widened, alarmed, as you choked, his hand instinctively reaching across the table, handing you a napkin. “What happened? Are you okay?
Before you could swallow, or even answer, a hand firmly gripped onto Jungkook’s shoulder.
“What are the odds that I find you two here having a secret coffee date?" Hoseok’s voice gushed, causing Jungkook to visibly flinch.
“I could’ve sworn last night you said that she was just a friend, yet here you are having breakfast and coffee together.”
Jungkook froze; he slowly turned his head, glaring up at his friend. “Hyung, what are you doing here?”
“Obviously getting coffee.” Hoseok grinned, pulling up a chair from one of the nearby tables and sliding it on the side of you two.
He then leaned in, his eyes darting playfully back and forth between you two. His eyes landed on your flushed face, causing Jungkook’s ears to flush from embarrassment.
“It's not a secret date.” Jungkook muttered quietly, taking a quick sip from his coffee to prevent the conversation from going further.
Finally, you had managed to clear your throat, setting your iced coffee down cautiously and far from you.
“Good morning, Hoseok.” You bellowed, your voice slightly squeaking. “I just heard all about your interrogation from last night.”
Hoseok let out a dramatic gasp, pressing a hand on his chest. "Interrogation? I'd rather call it an "investigation from a supportive roommate; also, my intuition was right!”
Hoseok smiled softly, satisfied with the chaos he caused in less than two minutes. He checked his phone, then walked over to grab his iced americano from the pickup counter.
“Well, lovers, I have a morning lecture to attend," Hoseok said, shooting a wink towards Jungkook, causing the younger boy to groan.
With a cheerful wave, Hoseok disappeared back into the large crowd. Jungkook then managed to finish the rest of his Danish. His face is still painted with a pink tint.
He cleared his throat, avoiding eye contact for a slight second, before he looked up, his eyes finding yours.
A nervous smile returned to his lips.
“Just ignore him.” He mumbled, scratching the back of his neck. “He doesn’t know anything about boundaries.”
“Really? I think he’s pretty funny. ”You teased," picking up your cup and taking another sip of your iced coffee. But he was right about one thing; you told me to be ready by six but never mentioned where.”
Jungkook leaned forward, his eyes sparkling with a hint of mischief as he then rested his chin on his hand. “If I were to tell you, it wouldn’t be a surprise anymore, would it? Just wear something comfy.”
The anticipation that you had felt earlier immediately returned. You nodded; you felt a flutter of nerves dancing in your something as you looked at him. ”Fine, comfortable, I can do that.”
The rest of the morning was spent talking and finishing your coffees. But your mind was already racing ahead to the evening.
By the time you two had gone your separate ways, the countdown to 6 o’clock had officially begun.
