I took this pic for my digital creative writing class but thought it should be more than just an assignment. I’m so sick of OCD being thrown around like an adjective and being poked fun at. It has to fucking stop. My disorder is not a trend, it’s not something to be taken lightly or used to describe your quirks or passion for something. The same goes for all other mental illness– it’s not a joke. It’s not an adjective. It’s not a trend.

Howdy, friends!

In light of recent events, TinyBlogTim and I would like to start #DoItForMark, a push to encourage self-love, compassion, and positive personal development.

Post a promise to Mark akin to self-love, self-acceptance, or personal betterment—things you think you need to or would like to improve on. Promise to be kinder to yourself. To get more rest this week. To tell yourself you’re beautiful once a day. To nurture your passions. Let Mark be your extra motivation for the things you may struggle motivating yourself to do. Help us show him some of the change he inspires in us to be better people to not only others, but to ourselves.

You can participate through any medium you’d like: Text posts, graphics, audio, video, selfies, combinations thereof, anything. Make as many promises as you want, as personal or general as you want, or as elaborate or simple as you want so long it’s respectful and positive. Encourage each other!

We want to have this officially start on this Wednesday, the 25th, but early posts are welcome and encouraged!

As a proud African American and Latino, I’ve been so insecured of my looks and body through out my childhood but after highschool, I learned to embrace to what I used to think was flaws and what people bullied me for. My cultures has made me so much stronger and it made me different and nowadays it’s so hard to naturally stand out. Learning my history have taught me to realIze that I am beautiful and black has been and always will be beautiful. Our ancestors were kings and queens. Let’s forever, stick with that mentality. That we are forever Kings and Queens. #BlackOut 👑
