“Alright, I suppose I’ll take you shopping with me. It would be cruel to let you miss out on a sale.”
“You’re my favorite person.”
“Exactly! Like, am I supposed to sit there and look bored? Like what the hell am I supposed to do?”
“Honestly though, it’d be a cute place for a date.”
“What? Why? But angel.”
“Did you seriously just call me angel?”
“I don’t like you.”
“I’m out of fucks to give.”
“Today I walked into a small cafe and it had a sign out on the counter that said ‘No, we do not have WIFI. Talk to each other!’ with a smiley face at the end. I don’t think I’ve ever left a place so quick in my entire life.”
“That’s horrible. What if you were there alone? Like who the hell are you supposed to talk to then?”
Kai lets out a little laugh of surprise at that. Generally speaking, he’s very much against any sort of calling of names, but he supposes if that’s how she feels, then that’s how she feels. “She sounds like she pushes you too hard.” Heaven patting his head is probably meant to be both friendly and vaguely condescending, but Kai can’t help the way he wiggles under the attention, mostly because he craves any and all physical representation of affection. Was that affection? Probably not. Is he going to take it as that? Absolutely. “Bollocks. You’d leave your house again, else I’d have to come in and get you. Either way, you’re going to do beautifully.”
“I hope you’re right, because if I don’t do well, it might as well be the end of my life.” She muttered. “You wouldn’t be able to make me leave the comfort of my bed.”
“Hmm, you?”
“Don’t embarrass yourself by hitting on me. It won’t end well for you.”
❝ if you were always rude, you wouldn’t have apologised. anyway, what are you studyin’? ❞
“I usually don’t. But, I’m trying this new thing where I’m nice to my friends. I’m studying for my bar exam so I can graduate and become a lawyer. If I have to sit through another year of a law class, I’ll probably cry.”
“Oh, so now you’re interested. I suppose I’ll be nice and take you along still.”
“Listen, I wasn’t paying attention last time and didn’t hear you say the word sale.”
“We won’t get caught, that’s the point. I’ve done this a shit ton of times. Trust.”
“Fine. But if we caught, I’ll murder you.”
“Thank you for that. I don’t think I can handle you crushing anymore of my dreams.”
“Sometimes I wonder why you still talk to me, since that’s basically all I ever do.”
“Fun fact: Don’t touch my shit.”
“It’s a damn water bottle, you’ll survive.”
“I do not want to unpack my bags. I’ll pay someone to do it for me.”
“No amount of money can make me unpack a suitcase.”
Truth be told, most people tend to get complimented when they talk to Kai, but he’s still glad that Heaven seems to like it so very much. “Why would they do that? Isn’t the whole point in dance class to teach you?” He asks, a bit of concern edging into his voice, as if the thought of them doing that to her is just so appalling (it is.) “I’ll do my very best to guide you towards moderation, and to get you home and safe into your bed on time.” The promise of a reward like that is too much to pass up, after all, and hopefully it’ll help reinforce the idea in his mind enough that it doesn’t fly right away the moment he’s got a shot or two in his system. Hopefully. “This ‘bar’ thing is pretty serious, huh?”
“Because my dance teacher was a bitch.” Heaven scoffed, annoyed about the whole thing. “I would’ve been a better dancer if she didn’t expect me to learn about thirty different moves in under and hour.” She muttered mostly to herself. “Good boy.” She teased, patting his head. “This bar exam is more than serious, it’s my entire future. If I don’t pass this, then I might as well never leave my house again.”
“Oh… Right, okay. I’m sure you’re a lovely dancer, though! I mean, you’re so lovely already, I can’t imagine that situation would change you any. We’ll get a couple into ya, though, and then we’ll see how it goes. Sounds good?” He offers her a smile, though whether that be reassurance or something else is unclear. It’s close, either way. “Midnight to one it is! I swear I can keep to a curfew. Kind of. Hopefully.”
“Oh god no. I was once kicked out of a dance class because I sucked so badly. You’re my favorite person ever, and it’s because whenever I talk to you, I always get complimented. That sounds good, just make sure to not let me go overboard.” She reminded him, knowing he’d probably forget once he started drinking. “If you keep this curfew, I’ll go clubbing with you and get drunk and not worry about time on Friday.”
