Steve groaned. Why is it when Mary decides to visit, a criminal likes to try and run him over with a car???? Every. Time. He shakes his head, struggling to sit up. "I'll be fine, sis. You know me."

This felt like home though, she imagines this is how it’s meant to feel, like safety and love and acceptance, he feels like home. ” Thank you ” she tells him, pulling away slightly but smiling to him.

 Staying with someone with a wrap sheet, and possibly a gang of killers looking for her just seemed...normal to Steve. He had lived a large majority of his adult life avoiding hits made on his life, it had oddly become comforting. He knew he was doing his job the right way. Protecting the people of Hawaii was his calling and being in love with Nikki made his soul feel alive for once. He pulled her back into a big hug, kissing her temple gently.

"Thanks. It’s only a math test." He tried to play it down even though doing good on his math test was a big deal because he hated math. Luke was still not used to receiving compliments from the new people he met since he lived in Hawaii, including his father. "Stop smiling like that. It’s embarrassing." He looked around, hoping no one saw the very cheesy smile Steve had.

Play it off Steve, play it off. Don't want to scare the kid off, or something. Steve crossed his arms over his chest, glancing around the madness of 'pick-up' time at the school. "Hey, wanna go grab some dinner at Kamekona's tonight?" He may or may not have forgotten to go food shopping today.

"Mhmm. That’s what all the criminals say. How about you detach from your lead and come take a seat by the patrol car. I really don’t want to have to use force."

Fi glanced upward. She hadn’t gotten far, but she was half tempted to keep going, just to see what pretty boy down below would do. “Criminal? That hurts. I didn’t know climbing buildings was a criminal activity,” she said as she made her way back down and dropped to the pavement.

Steve groans under his breath, removing his sunglasses and stuffing them in the pocket on his top shirt. "It is when you're wearing all black, along with gloves. Didn't think that was kind of suspicious?" He pauses, "In the middle of the day...?" He squints.

"Well, now don’t be surprised if I show up with my laptop and my dad on Skype in the middle of the night sometime then." She teased him and laughed. Giggling at and waving to Kamekona as they moved out of the way for the other customers. She saw his reaction and patted his chest playfully. "Awww, don’t worry." She paused and leaned in to whisper in his ear. "I like you better." She said and pulled back smiling brightly at him.

"I wouldn't mind at all." Nope. It would be a welcome interruption to his otherwise busy day. The whisper and chest touch kind of gave him chills, though he managed to battle the rising pink on his cheeks with a laugh instead. "That's good." Was all that he could say because suddenly his mouth was dry. Flirting was a whole new territory to him.
