Is that AURORA PERRINEAU? No, that’s just HECATE BLACK. They were born on 09/10/1988 and are a SIPHONER SUCCUBI (SISTERS OF THE MORNING STAR COVEN) living in Northknot Town. They work as a DEALER AT THE CORAL DIAMOND CASINO. Some say they're ALLURING and INTUITIVE, but I’ve heard others say they're DECEITFUL and SKEPTICAL. When you think of HER, don’t you think of THE SOUND OF SHUFFLING CARDS, CALCULATED CHAOS & THE DEADLY CALM IN THE CENTER OF THE STORM?

HEADCANONS
Her family were nomads; they lived on the road. Hecate never had a stable home environment or stayed anywhere long enough to have friends.
Books were and still are her best friends, besides her brother; though she won’t turn down a good drink or two. Her love for books extends to writing; she keeps a secret journal where she writes poetic reflections and sketches.
Hecate’s family stumbled upon Northknot when she was 15; adjusting to a more stable lifestyle was tough.
Her parents are disabled and they are housebound; Hecate has been their caretaker since she was 12. She’s fiercely protective of her parents and feels guilty for occasionally wishing she could live a freer life.
Her family was poor and would con for a living; there’s times when she cons people still out of habit.
Hecate secretly volunteers at a local shelter, finding peace in helping others under the radar.
Her favorite place in town is Easy as ABC and her favorite color is purple. If you buy her cheesecake, she might just love you.
She keeps a small box under her bed filled with mementos from her travels and old con jobs, each item holding a memory.
Hecate has a knack for reading people and their body language, quickly assessing their weaknesses and how to charm or deceive them, making her adept at anticipating others’ actions or motives, a skill honed from years of conning.
She has an exceptional poker face, which makes her a formidable opponent in any game, from cards to conversations.
She has a stray cat that found its way into her life one rainy night. She named the cat, Salem. The little black cat comes and goes as she pleases, much like Hecate herself.
Despite her tough exterior, she’s a closet romantic who dreams of finding someone who understands her fully, flaws and all.
Hecate is friends with a local tattoo artist who gives her free ink in exchange for some favors or just for fun. She has several small tattoos scattered across her body, each with a story behind it.
Hecate rarely sleeps at night, finding herself most alive when the moon is high, either reading, out drinking, or wandering the streets of Northknot.
Her apartment is dimly lit and decorated with eclectic finds from her travels, everything from tapestries to mismatched furniture, and the occasional stray cat, creating a cozy, lived-in space that reflects her free spirit and mystical vibe.
She spent her entire life looking out for and protecting her younger brother who was recently murdered during a faction attack.
APPEARANCE
Hecate embodies a bohemian gypsy allure that is as unpredictable as it is captivating. Her hair is a chameleon of sorts; sometimes braided with intricate beaded accents, other times left to tumble in wild waves that mirror her free spirit. Her wardrobe is a kaleidoscope of eclectic styles, reflecting her ever-changing mood and boundless creativity. You might catch her in a flowy, patterned maxi dress one day and a sleek leather jacket paired with a vintage band tee the next. The color purple often makes an appearance, echoing her favorite hue and adding a splash of vibrancy to her look. Stilettos might give way to worn-in boots, depending on her day's adventures. If Hecate’s having an off day, you might spot her in cozy, oversized sweaters or layered in bohemian scarves, a testament to her comfort-first approach. Her eclectic appearance is punctuated by a collection of tattoos, each one a small, unique story inked onto her skin, peeking out from under her clothes as she moves through her eclectic world.
PERSONALITY
Hecate is the embodiment of captivating contradictions: she’s a dreamer with a sharp edge, a loner who thrives in the chaos of a crowd, and a con artist with a deep-seated loyalty to her family. She’s alluring and enigmatic, her presence magnetic whether she’s silently observing or throwing out sharp, witty banter. Hecate has the wisdom of a survivor, having grown up on the road and learning how to navigate life’s unpredictability with charm and resourcefulness. Beneath her confident, flirty exterior lies a sensitive heart, one guarded by walls built from years of hardship. While she’s skeptical of others, her intuitiveness and sentimental nature make her crave deeper connections. Whether she’s flipping cards at the Coral Diamond Casino or getting lost in a spellbook, Hecate carries an air of mystique that leaves you wanting to know more... but wary of getting too close.
AESTHETIC
carefree - the smell of weed and liquor - dice rolling on the table - the quiet serenity of the moonlit streets - bohemian - rusty, old books - tarnished silver rings and layered necklaces with hidden meanings - quiet storm - the flicker of candlelight in a dark room - the feel of a well-worn leather jacket - a bottle of red wine half-empty - a small, worn journal filled with sketches and notes - the scent of incense lingering in the air - tattoos peeking out from under loose clothing - a cluttered bookshelf with novels, spellbooks, and old photographs - a deck of cards, shuffled expertly in one hand
CONNECTIONS
Younger Brother Hecate and her brother are extremely close. Growing up nomadic, most of the time they were their only friends. Things shifted with them when they were attacked. Hecate became more of a mother figure to him than a sibling.
Fuck Buddies Hettie doesn’t do feelings or relationships. Friendships are foreign to her so she isn’t sure where to begin with romance. She’s the type to leave right after she’s finished; no cuddling, no sleepovers, and no talking.

... Not all who wander are lost...
Hecate’s family were nomadic; they lived on the road, traveling and exploring North America. That’s how her parents were raised and they decided to raise their children the same way. There was a community of nomads in the beginning but as the children grew older, their community grew smaller. The small family of four would eventually find themselves roaming the continent alone. The Blacks were a family of con-artists. It was how they got by. Neither parent had jobs; their mother would spend most of her time homeschooling the kids while their father would come up with elaborate schemes for money that the entire family would participate in.
... If in doubt, just walk until your day becomes interesting...
The young girl never realized her family was poverty-stricken; it wasn’t until she was an adult that she understood the reasoning behind their cons. Even though they couldn’t afford the things regular kids their age had, Hecate and her brother were happy. They had each other and that was enough. Though things really changed for them when their family was attacked. They conned the wrong people and their actions had consequences. It was a gruesome attack that left both parents disabled. They had to flee and quickly. Luckily, twelve year old Hecate already had a couple of driving lessons and would drive the family van for the next few years traveling the continent. She came up with the cons for her and her brother to perform in order to keep their family afloat. The young girl was forced to grow up fast and become the family’s caretaker.
... The closest thing to being cared for is to care for someone else...
She was fifteen when her family accidentally stumbled upon Northknot. The family had fallen asleep and Hecate called herself taking a shortcut to a nearby city through the woods. She initially thought she was dreaming because the first thing she saw driving into the city was a werewolf and a fairy having an intimate conversation outside of a restaurant. Positive she was losing her mind, she woke up her brother and he confirmed that what she saw was true. They found a town where they didn’t have to hide the fact that they weren’t human. The children tried to convince their parents to let them reside in Northknot but they couldn’t afford to settle down. Hecate snuck off to try to talk the mayor into helping them when she discovered the mayor was her mother’s long lost sibling. The mayor, Hettie’s aunt, gave them a roof over their heads, the children schools to attend and Hecate was given a job. Her parents couldn’t work due to their disability. The stable home life took a lot of adjusting to. The young girl often found herself in all sorts of trouble and still struggling with old habits of conning. The adults in her life thought a job might help her adjust. Hecate didn’t really start to settle into the more stable environment until she found a home in her coven, Sisters of the Morning Star.
... Home isn’t where you’re from, it’s where you find light when all grows dark...
Hecate grew up to become a decent human being. She skipped out on college, not wanting to be in anymore debt to her aunt, and works as a dealer at the Coral Diamond Casino. She still has her wild side and times when she accidentally cons someone out of habit. Though if she’s not partying, she spends most of her time at the library or bookstore and spending time with her parents. They’ve only needed more support as they got older and although, it shouldn’t have been her job to take care of them in the first place, she doesn’t mind. She has also started to develop a crush on her coworker but she’s afraid to tell her how she feels because they agreed to be friends with benefits and she’s never actually been in a relationship. Hecate gives off this hardcore, doesn’t care vibe but once you get to know her, you find out she’s a sweetheart.
