Is Gracie’s birthday on the day Aaron met her? How does one celebrate a birthday in the apocalypse?!

Random Asks ||  Literally always accepting|| 

First of all thank you so much for this cute ass question smh. The answer is Yes! While it might not be her actual birthday, that’s the day that Aaron considers as Gracie’s birthday so that’s when they celebrate it! As for what they do? You better believe Aaron would go out of his way to decorate the house for her birthday, he’d even get all her little friends to help him with the homemade decorations. A cake is DEFINITELY made for her and when she’s a little older? (around the age she is now, so 8) her and daddy sometimes even go outside the gates and into abandoned stores(only the ones he has made sure are completely and utterly clear) to pick up  little knick-knacks that she may want! Birthdays and other Holidays are very important in the Raleigh household!

those  eyes  staring  back  at him  turn  a  brighter  shade  of  blue  when  he’s  upset.  the  edges  are  tinged  with  red  and  tears  he  keeps  swiping  away.  but  here  he  is  covering  all  of  that  up  with  a  terribly  timed  joke  that  paul  can’t  help  but  return  with  his  own  brand  of  humor.  because  deep  down  he’s  ready  to  crack  at  the surface  as  well.  upon  waking  he  knew  exactly  where  he  was,  but  he  couldn’t  remember  how  he  got  there  or  why  there  was  searing  pain  all  over  the  left  half  of  his  body. 

all  he  can  think  of  right  now  is  to  be  strong  for  the  man  that  is  holding  his  hand.  that  gave him  a  teary  ‘hi’  when  eyes  first  opened.  seeing  him  first  helped  keep  him  calm, but  the  emotion  trying  its  hardest  to  not  seep  to  the  surface  isn’t  helping him  keep  his  own  tucked  away.  ‘if  i  was  going  to  opt  out  i  wouldn’t  be  here.  face  it.  you’re  stuck  with  me,  curly.’  

he  almost  chokes  on  the  last  words  as  he  stifles  the  sobs  threatening  to  leave  him.  and  its  enough  to  wrack  his  chest  and  riddle  it with  pain. despite  his  almost  departure  from  this  world,  joking  feels  normal  even  with  the   wreaking  having  on  his  body.  ‘i  had  to  give  you  a  chance  to  save  me  for  once.  couldn’t  have  you  feeling  completely  useless.”  

tears  fall  down  his  cheek  and  he  doesn’t  have  the  strength  to  wipe  at  them  so  he  simply  turns  his  head  away.  to  think  that  just  a  few  days  ago  he’d  admitted  his  love  for  the  other  and  how  HAPPY  they  were  to  finally  move  to  that  next  level.  where  they  could  lay  everything  out  on  the  table  after  YEARS  of  literally  dancing  around  the subject.  and  it  was  almost  taken  from  them.  

could  still  be  if  he  doesn’t  heal  correctly.  ‘i  love  you,  aaron,’  he  says  finally  breaking  the  smile  and  turning  back  to  him.  ‘and  i  would  never  go  anywhere  if  i  could  help  it.”

Hands both flesh and metal raise immediately once she turns on him, rifle at the ready and for a moment Aaron simply stands there with his heart his throat, eyes wide. Truth be told he had been following her, though only because of the fact that she was a bit too close to Alexandria. He wanted to make sure she wasn't heading in that direction with malice intent.(or at all)

"...I was following you." He admits, hands still up in surrender. "...Sorry. I just wanted to make sure you didn’t come across my camp...There's um...Only three of us. I just want to make sure it stays that way, you know?"

he’s  already  through  the  gates  which leads  to  gloves  coming  off  and  the  horse  put  into  the  stables  for  the  night.  it’d  be  too  late  to  go  back  anyway  so  he’ll  simply  stay  on  someone’s  couch  if  they  can  make  room.  one  thing  on  his  mind  as  he  wades  past  a  few  people  with  waves  and  smiles.  when  he  reaches  the  house  he  peers  inside.

 all a   bit  quiet  until  he  heads  through  the  house  only  to  hear  laughter  fill  the  backyard.  he  slinks  next  to  aaron  with  a  smile  with  a  simple  hand  on  his  shoulder.   ‘hey  everyone. uncle jesus is here!  i  heard  we  were  having  a  sleepover  and  i  wasn’t  invited?” guess he’ll  just  have  to  be  a  party crasher  and  then  awaits  the  inevitable  barrage  of  hugs. 

Sleepovers in alexandria  was a new but welcomed  concept. It gave the kids a chance to really interact with each other and  added a bit of normality  to a less than normal world. In the end?That’s all Aaron could ask for.  He had been a bit off to himself when he hears the familiar voice of Paul, and he turns his head just in time to watch the other man walk over to him. 

“You made it just in time, Jesus. “ He assures with a wide smile, reaching out to clap his shoulder in return, though  just as he moves to step out of the line of fire both of them are bombarded by the inevitable group of children hurrying over to greet and hug Paul. Glancing down at the small push to his legs, Aaron raises a brow  as he watches his daughter march her way over to the other man and hold her arms up at him, clearly  intending on being picked up.  Giving huff of laugher, he motions to the toddler. “Don’t keep my kid waiting, Jesus.”
