nadia laughed, “ i mean, true. it’s no fun to suffer alone, you have to have someone to suffer with. ” she smiled at her friend. she knew they’d have to talk about the breakup some time, but this wasn’t the time. they’d just reunited and she was going to have a good night without the awkward conversation to ruin it. “ honestly why am i friends with someone so rude to me? ” she laughed. she shook her head at her when she said to watch her mouth. nadia wasn’t really one to use much foul language back home, but when she got out of the public eye and was around her friends, the language came out. “ hell no, i don’t need to be a pretty princess here, and i can talk however i please. that’s the one redeeming quality about this shithole planet. ” she laughed. “ also, stop calling me young, i’m not even that young! you’re just old. ”
–– ♡ ❛ + “you’re not just friends with me, you’re best friends with me. you’ve said it more than once, which is legally binding, so.. you’re stuck with me,” kehlani explained, amused at how she only ever seemed to keep her filter in tact when in the presence of her kingdom. not that lani actually minded, of course; she had a similar vernacular. “you’re always a pretty princess,” she reminded her friend, emphasizing the compliment. “exactly! i’m old and hella wise, so it’s in your best interest to do whatever i say. shut up before i drop you off at the daycare center.”

talia covered her mouth with her hands to silence the laugh that bubbled from her lips. while amused, she did feel sorry for the princess on her couch. “want me to make you a cup of coffee?” her voice came out as a whisper as she turned away, heading into her kitchenette. “and maybe get you some TYLENOL??”
–– ♡ ❛ + accepting defeat, kehlani’s eyes closed once more as she realized the pain was far too severe to question it. she cautiously nodded her head in response to coffee, bringing the blanket up over her eyes. “i’m not sure what that is, but yes, please.”
☽ › Jules had made his usual move whenever he joined a new place and that could only mean the boy had gotten himself into trouble. –– How dumb. Oh, and certainly stealing wasn’t the best he could’ve done, but perhaps it was too late now to just say Oops and/or Sorry. “Yes, this is a golf kart, no I don’t plan on giving it back any time soon. Wanna jump in or..?” he asked to the first pedestrian that crossed his path.
–– ♡ ❛ + as an oh-so-distracted kehlani went to cross over to the sidewalk, the sound of wheels coming to a stop startled her. “HEY!” she called out, furrowing her brows as she wacked the hood with her text books out of instinct ( as if that would’ve done anything ). her irritation quickly faded into shock as she got a closer look at the driver. “––jules?” had her best friends really arrived within the same week?
Bellamy’s day was always better when he talked to as few people as possible. It’s not that he didn’t like people, he just wasn’t very good socially… However, being the Librarian at Elias University often meant lots of questions and small talk. It seemed he’d have do endure it again as he heard the footsteps stop in front of his desk. The school had told him he needed to be more personable, that he sometimes intimidated the students. Be friendly, they said. He was perfectly friendly…right?
He finished the page he was reading before looking up — since it was just a few sentences. His grey-green gaze settled on the person in front of him and he raised an eyebrow.
“Can I help you with something?”
–– ♡ ❛ + admittedly, kehlani had let her curiosity got the best of her. she had never been in a proper library before and it fascinated her. when she saw the librarian’s desk, the amount of papers and other miscellaneous knick-knacks on the desk had drawn her in ( specifically: the faux red rose in a crystal vase ). she had begun to ‘discreetly’ try to get a closer look, or at least, it started off as discreet. it wasn’t until she heard bellamy speak up that she realized how far she had leaned over the desk, guilt washing over her expression. “....nope,” the heiress simply stated, shaking her head as she slowly stood up straight again. there was no playing that off.
“Tell my siblings and you’re dead. Nothing more, nothing less…”
–– ♡ ❛ + “are you,” kehlani’s eyebrows furrowed as she trailed off, unsure of what to think about what she was looking at. “––are you inhaling sugar?”
—— he was just leaving the building, having dropped off a few things was of the professor’s needed and was easily accessible for him to get. it was an easy thing, quentin had done it many times, but this time was different. normally, he would take the stairs, hoping to get at least some exercise before the day started. but this time, he chose the elevator. oddly, he didn’t know why — it was just a split second decision since the stairs seemed so daunting that morning. he noticed kehlani get in, but he hadn’t said anything, not knowing whether or not she was in the mood to talk until the lights flickered off and the elevator came to a stop. ❛ i’m fine, i should be asking you that. you seemed to have hit the wall pretty hard ?? ❜
–– ♡ ❛ + she was relieved to know that the other was okay, directing the flashlight to shine on the panel of buttons. “i’m fine,” she murmured, ignoring the pain that was shooting up from her wrist –– a punishment for trying to catch herself with one hand. “what the hell happened?” as she examined the array of buttons, she sighed. it didn’t look like anything was working. still, she jabbed her thumb in the emergency call button. nothing.
“ yeah, whatever. ” nadia laughed, shaking her head at the girl. she kept her arm around kehlani’s shoulder when she felt her tight hug. she had missed her best friend, and honestly was so over the tension that she felt between wanting to be there for her brother and wanting to be around her best friend. she was glad to be with kehlani and having fun, so she figured she’d embrace it while it lasted. “ it’s not the best thing, but i’m glad you’re here to suffer with me. ” she said, laughing quietly. “ i’m sure you are, i’m a real sight for sore eyes. ” she teased. “i’m glad to see you too, i guess. ” she added. “ shut the fuck up? don’t be rude. ” she nudged her shoulder lightly.
–– ♡ ❛ + “that is what our relationship is built on: mutual suffering,” she smirked as they began to walk towards the exit to the race track. things would be easier with nadia around, without a doubt. albeit, there was a large part of her that worried what toll the breakup would have. it’s not like kehlani broke up with a guy nadia didn’t care about, she shattered her brother’s heart. “yeah, because the sore eyes can’t see you that well and can handle it,” kehlani jokingly scoffed, laughing as she was told to stop being rude. “watch your mouth, youngin!”

glancing over at the princess, natalia couldn’t help but chuckle. she had hangover written all over her. “so..wild night, or something?” natalia porter had had her fair share of hangovers, and knew just the cure. “y'know, the best way to cure a hangover is some tea and sleep…and food. at least, that’s what works for me.” her voice was soft– she knew just how sensitive kehlani’s hearing would probably be.
–– ♡ ❛ + “oh my god, why are you yelling?” kehlani groaned, her expression twisting into a mix of confusion and pain. was one of her roommates really waking her up so early? as her eyes feathered open, the princess was surprised to stare up into natalia’s face. as she glanced around, she realized she wasn’t in her own apartment. throbbing pains pounded on her brain as she tried to sit up, forcing her to lay back down on what she realized was natalia’s couch. “how... why... ouch...”

–– ♡ ❛ + the route kehlani took to get to her classes on a day-to-day basis had become a routine; she would cut through the quad and through buildings, shaving minutes off the more popular commute of her peers. taking the elevator in the science building was apart of that routine and every day, things went perfect... until they suddenly didn’t. the elevator came to an abrupt halt before it approached the ninth floor, knocking off kehlani’s balance. as she fell against the back wall, the lights flickered for a moment before turning off for good. “what the fuck ––” she mumbled, using her phone’s flashlight to illuminate the closed space. it was then that she spotted quentin ( the only other person ) at the other end of the elevator. “are you okay?” @qventin
