The first time I saw Go West was the December 25th 2014, when I was 9 years old, I couldn't wait to finally see my very first animated Lucky Luke movie.
It is animated perfectly, the expressions and the goofy and exaggerated poses of characters are something else! In my opinion Xilam did well to add the Daltons too (in the original comic, "la caravane" they weren't present), cuz they knew their immense and magnificent potential, everything they do is literally a cartoony and goofy work of art. To be brutally honest my favorite part of the movie is when they rob the Wall Street banks and the crazy escape from the whole police of NYC on the Brooklyn Bridge. Ah yes, and I also adore the soap gun scene too. Absolute cinema.
The other characters are unforgettable, like Piotr, Ugly Barrow, the french barber, Bones and the teacher, and the moment when she kicks Joe getting insane is literal girl power🎀✨.
Talking about the mythical Jolly Jumper, I always shipped him with Louise (the brown mare).
Talking about Crook and Bartleby, I initially didn't like them as I found them pretty irritating, but rewatching the movie again, again and again I appreciated them more as they have an immense potential.
The musics capture perfectly the animation too, the backgrounds are spectacular; some animations are so exaggerated that look almost "brutal", like the mine scene where Joe goes against the rocks, when I saw that scene I was laughing my ass off for the absurdity and """"violence"""" of that moment, like damn my Dalton boys literally survive ANYTHING.
Talking about the Daltons, I think they are the best characters of the entire saga, they are a literal mine of gold, they're creative, amusing, explosive, goofy, unpredictable, mythical and never fail to make me smile and laugh; there's only one thing I didn't appreciate: Joe's outrage and Averell's clumsiness and stupidity were too exaggerated, too charicatural, and Joe is literally insane, unlike the first movies where he could control himself more, while William and Jack got forgotten as usual, bruh they deserve a personality and more attention too (I loved the scene where Jack lends his iron ball to the Italian woman lol, poor man).
This is not one of the most important or the greatest animated movies for sure, but it's monstrously underrated, but most importantly it's
I totally advice this movie for people who love comedies, animation and adventure movie, if I had to rate this movie it would be a 8/10.
