I'm watching some of the original older Lucky Luke movies/media (yes, I fear the hyperfixation won't leave easily, if ever at this point lmao) and not only is the animation really good for the years these were made in (pretty sure it got remastered, but even without the newer extra work it's impressive), but it's also a great source of canon information, even if sometimes the canon is wobbly (and you might say "yeah no shit" and. Yes, you're right).

Spolier alert I guess? Even if this stuff is older than most people on this site probably lmao.

The 1971 Daisy Town movie shows how all four Daltons are actually really good marksmen, even if they don't ever stand a chance against Luke's speed. Also, I know it's just supposed to be a sketch to display the brothers' stupidity, but it was really interesting to see Averell hold his own in a shootout against his three brothers (I'm assuming they weren't really aiming at each other directly since, you know, they're a team and care about each other). They do end up fistfighting with each other for a moment which is funny (and also shows that Averell isn't always a complete pushover, especially since the reason they started fighting in the first place was Luke making him notice the others were "underestimating" him).

Am I taking them too seriously? Probably.

Can you expect me to post again about these media? Very likely.

I find it very cynical how the Dalton brothers are portrayed in the film Daisy Town (1971)—serious, perfectly poised, and shown training (while Luke plays chess with Jolly Jumper)—only to be defeated by Luke himself cheating. It has always been a slap in the face to the characters' dignity.

And I find really funny that the duel scene took inspo from the spaghetti westerns🤭🥰
