JESSICA CHASTAIN 75th Primetime Emmy Awards (January 15, 2024)
"ooh, smells delicious, hel. i'm glad i didn't have that donut before coming over now-," he joked, kissing her cheek as he came in. flash had never had a better meal than at the parr residence (leftovers night was his personal fave). helen and bob were kinda his idols when it came to life. they just seemed like they had it all together, you know? lovin' life.
"i'm doing great, thanks for asking! work is steady, the lines are slow and the driver's license pics are still haunting. one of my students took out about twenty cones yesterday too but i'm feeling optimistic for next time. how about you, huh? mrs big time lawyer?"
"have you been sneaking sugary treats again?" she smiled and gave him a hug. as far as helen was concerned, flash was another other one of bob and her kids. he fitted into the parr family like a perfect puzzle piece.
"that's good to hear. though remind me that when the time comes for dash to learn how to drive that he needs as many cones as possible to try and slow him down. that boy runs around like time is running out" she laughed and made her way through the home to the kitchen "i'm good thanks. a bit worried about the kids when they're this quiet but bob says to give them space." helen pulled plates down from the cupboard and set them out for the food "i've got a few exams to go then i'm officially big time lawyer. lorelai has been a godsend with it all"
@flash-hundredyarddash
helen had invited flash over for family dinner, he was as much of a son to her as the rest of her children. "come in, come in, dinners almost ready" she smiled and welcomed him into the parr home. "how are you? work going well?"

helen had been worried about the kids recently. they had fallen quiet and into their own little worlds, forgetting that their siblings were around. she didnât like the kids not talking. shit, sheâd even take the kids fighting over their silence.Â
she had been reading her book in bed one night, thinking things over when she slipped her bookmark into the pages and closed the book over, turning to bobÂ
âhave you notice the kids havenât been talking? did something happen?â
Lorelai made a point of having her and Helen's biweekly coffee dates anywhere that wasn't her own home. They'd been to every cafe, restaurant and bar in town that way. They always found the best corner to tuck away into, whispering (gossiping) and usually discussing Helen's return to law. Lorelai had always made a point of not cancelling on her. Today was no exception but against her better judgement, she had messaged Helen with a request to change the location. Try as she may- pain killers, chamomile teas, caffeine free 'all natural' concoctions- she couldn't get past her own front door. Lorelai Hart hadn't been ill in well over twenty years. Lorelai Hart struck fear into the heart of the common cold. But whatever this was... it wasn't common.
In any case, she opened her front door to Helen Parr with a 'forgive me' smile. "I've just started the coffee machine. Please excuse the bath robe, I beg of you." @helenpxrr
on her way to the hart home, she popped into a nearby store and picked up all the cold and flu things one could desire when ill - along with another curer of wine, chocolate and some of those trashy tabloid magazines that she knew would make the other laugh.Â
helen gave a sympathetic look when lorelai had opened her door âyouâre excused. youâre always excused.â she said with a wave of her hand âonly you could be floored with a flu and still look amazing, and also, iâve brought you cold and flu reinforcements.â she offered âdumb question, but how are you feeling?â

5. someone theyâve forgiven;
"bob when he's being dumb...but a serious answer would be the man that sued bob. thanks to him we left that horrid town and we found out home in redwood"
[ IN-DEPTH HEADCANON QUESTIONS ]:
if your muse was handed a $100 bill and told to buy anything they wanted at the store, what would they get?
wine and noise cancelling headphones so she didn't have to hear the kids fighting and finally have some peace and quiet
what would your muse describe as their "essentials" for life?
good food, good wine & good people
46. Whatâs the accomplishment they are most proud of?
her kids
send me ( memento ) for my muse to talk about an item they still carry with them from childhood, and its significance
helen doesn't carry anything from her childhood.

rose felt like all she did these days was study, study and study. turns out today was no different. sitting at a free table in her aunt mariaâs florist shop, rose absentmindedly flicked through the pages of her textbook. giving, up, she leaned back in the chair and let out a groan.Â
âitâs so boring!â

helen was in picking up flowers for the parr family home. she was waiting around the store and smiled to herself when she saw rose studying away. it reminded her of violet when she was at school. then as that thought came into mind, roseâs outburst has her mind going straight to dash. âyou remind me of my son, he hates studying as well. he never does well sitting stillâ

Mirage wasnât at all phased by the standoffish air put forth by Helen. In fact, it was almost amusing. Such a shame they wouldnât be making friends any time soon. Helen seemed like she might make an interesting conversation partner, if it werenât for the glares and tense shoulders.
âOh, Helen,â she hummed. âI see today is not the day when bygones will be bygones, no? Such a shame, really, because I was looking for someone have a coffee with after my little shopping trip.â
-
neither woman seemed bothered by the other, yet both were petty enough to keep up the passive aggression. both held their own and both refused to back down. helen always taught her kids to be the bigger person and not hold grudges, that didnât mean that she actually practiced what she preached.Â
âoh mirageâ she hummed back âwhy am i not surprised that youâve not got someone to go to coffee with? have you been ogling partners that arenât yours again?âÂ

âooh, touchĂ©. it was definitely a heavy hitter in the hands of one elle woods, thatâs forsure,â flash nodded. who could ever forget that absolute zinger of an ending, right? linda cardellini eat your hear out. flash gave the pile of books another impressed and daunting look.
âyou know, iâm almost willing to risk it. any time, hel. iâm here for all that good stuff and to help out if you ever have an overwhelming urge to throw a barbecue,â he added for good measure. flash raised both eyebrows at helenâs confession, a genuine smile stretched across his face. âhelen, thatâs awesome! aw man, youâre gonna need a wheelbarrow to get all these books outta here. this is very elle woods of you. oh, well, the lil guy at home has been acting a little weird lately. dancing around his veggies. iâm trying to learn how to vibe better with him.â
-
âand who are we to question the tools of elle woods?â she asked with a smile. she lost count how many times she had seen the film in question over the years.Â
âthank you, freddie, itâs much appreciated.â helen was always amazed at the wonderful support network she had in town of friends and extended family. the parrâs welcomes everyone and anyone into their family and it was no different for freddie. âa wheelbarrow is a pretty good idea. my arms are aching from carrying these cinderblock books. you know me, just trying to live my perfect dayâ she joked, quoting the main song from the film âoh no, i hope heâs okayâ she said, her voice filled with concern. âhave you found anything that you think might be the cause?â
