Keith-Lee Castle as Count Dracula from the series Young Dracula. I saw it again a few weeks ago and in spite of the plot inconsistencies and the Count’s constant power fluctuations, it is still a fun thing to watch. It’s a kids show turned teen, I can’t be too nitpicky.   This guy is amongst my favorite characters not only in the show but in general, so I really wanted to draw him. The actor is fucking great! Also a round of applause for whoever made his costumes.

A Fan’s History of LP Culture

Let’s Play as a concept can be traced back to its comedy roots in Mystery Science Theater 3000. You’d be hard-pressed to find a member of the LP subforum who hasn’t seen MST3K.  Making fun of video games as you play them is only a small step from making fun of movies as you watch them, and LP is enabled by the internet and advances in video technology.  Something Awful, as well, was always influenced by MST3K, now Rifftrax, and Lowtax1 has sponsored Rifftrax Live events and even made videos with Mike Nelson.  One thing I’ve heard about both Nelson and Lowtax is that, in person, they can be insufferable to be around, because while they’re both very funny, they “can’t turn it off,” so to speak.  Their comedy persona continues into the real world and real situations that require compassion and empathy.  This flavor of aggressive apathy (for lack of a better term) became an integral part of SA and then LP culture, and we are still working through its repercussions today.

Here is the process  I wanted to see what I can draw without any reference. I wanted to see how much I actually know when I cannot rely upon looking at photos. And this is the result. And the result is not my best work by far, but if I don’t start being okay with people seeing my mistakes I will keep being afraid of making them, and that hinders progress. So Here is this thing.

This is Anti btw. I have a little headcanon about it but the post is already big.  Poor Sean is always the unfortunate victim of my experiments. I hope it’s not too dark. I draw horror often and the line of what’s too much has become blurry over time. Jack makes me smile and he deserves all the fanart I can make, hence he is the unfortunate victim of my experiments.

I think it looks a bit better without the colours, to be honest, but I had to commit. :D
