Luke was taken by surprised. He’s never seem Ava act so…so…amicable. Usually she’d just glare at him the entire time whenever the three spent time together. His legs almost locked and collapsed from a jelly feeling. He smiled nervously and nodded to her. For some reason, she’s the most intimidating person he’s ever met, and that’s saying a lot for living 107 years.
“E-Eric,” Luke swallowed hard and looked between the two. “Why don’t we all go to dinner? My treat?”
Eric smiled at Luke before nodding his head. “If you’re sure about it, I think that’s a wonderful idea.” His heart felt warm in his chest-he was engaged to the love of his life and his little sister had just given them her seal of approval. Nothing could make the day any better.
“Thanks for the offer, but I’ll pass. You guys just got engaged, you should have a romantic dinner to yourselves. Rain check?” Ava didn’t want Luke to think she didn’t want to spend time with them. She always did, of course, but she also wasn’t in the mood to deal with their mushy-gushy-overly-happiness either. She gave them both a quick hug before making her way out the door. “Congratulations again.”
Luke watched the door closed and felt himself thoroughly relax. He looked at Eric and his smile grew. He was engaged. It was a fantastic feeling, and even more so that Ava approved. Approved and let him keep his nuts in tact. He hugged Eric again and kissed him deeply.
“Dinner for two alone...in a nice quiet restaurant,” he squeezed Eric’s hand.
