send 📺 + a question, and my muse’s shadow will answer it!
( note: shadows are born from humans, and carry with them human emotions, which are mostly negative. many people have their own shadow, filled with their repressed emotions and feelings, and also tend to be twisted reflections of a person, influenced by their own self image, or the unconscious image others project onto them. )
Send me a 💣 for a fact about my character that the character isn't aware of!

(Specifically blackmail Emirko would have hehehehe)
Enji was a boy who was known as a liar. Parents constantly questioning his every word, warning his teachers of his habit. As a young boy, he was very prone to crying when angry. Loud, red faced and snotty. A manipulation tactic.
No matter what he said, whether it was about who he played with at lunch, how fast he went on the swings, what the cafeteria served, was always met with suspicion.
The easiest way to get Enji to cry, even at his current age, is to call him a liar.
Emirko Aizawa. Pro Hero Mag-Ma'am, wife to Shouta Aizawa, mother to 5 beautiful children, the number 20 who had a brief stint as number 10 after her show of her full power. But before that,
She was Yaoma Todoroki. Brother to Enji Todoroki, student in UA's heroics Class 1-B. Being in 1-A Enji could finally escape his life in Yaoma's shadow, especially with his disgraceful relationship with one of Enji's classmates. Till rumors started that he was simply holding back, that he'd easily be in 1-A if he used his powers to full extent. And the worst part? Enji knew it was true, he had seen Yaoma at full flame, and it was a horrifying sight.
But then, a silver lining. Yaoma become Emirko, and Enji finally had a leg up on her. He was the normal one, he was the one who could have good, strong kids for his family. He was the better one. Emirko was just...some woman. That's all she was now. In her last act of sibling love to Enji, she gave him a one way ticket to superiority. And the two never contacted one another again, they'd see each other in the news and occasionally have to come up with a random excuse as to why they never worked together as heroes, but that was the extent of it. Until now.
Enji was sitting in his office, shifting through paperwork and casualty reports, when he got a call from his receptionist:
"Endeavor, sir, Pro Hero Mag-Ma'am is here to see you...she looks very angry. And- I'm pretty sure that's Eraserhead watching her from across the road."
"My partner's whereabouts are none of Endeavor's concern. He needs to worry about me melting his door off if I'm not in his office in the next 5 minutes." Emirko hissed, her voice coming over there phone dripped in venom and aimed right for her brother.
Endeavor glares, massaging the bridge of his nose between his thumb and forefinger.
"Send her in. I can handle whatever she wishes to say." He mutters, he did not enjoy speaking to his sister, and believed she felt the same. Whilst she was a peer, he judged her harshly for refusing to use her quirk to its fullest. On occasion he would wonder if Shoto had inherited the trait from wherever Emirko had gotten it from, the want to be lesser than how they were created. He tucks away his paperwork into the top drawer of his desk.
There are two photographs on his desk, Shoto in his middle school uniform and next to it, looking like a perfectly paired bookend, an exact match of Touya in the exact same uniform. Shoto stares blankly toward the camera, a yellowing bruise just barely visible over the collar of his jacket. Touya with eyes wide and bloodshot, mouth small and pinched. The pair stare at their father, like judges, like guards, like twin soldiers staring across no man's land. He hangs up the phone, newly freed hand drifting toward the portrait of Shoto, he touches it gingerly with his fingertips, brushing over it with the gentleness of someone coaxing an insect, so small, so fragile, so young, off of their clothing.
Emirko slammed the door open, her hand leaving a scorched print as she struggled to control herself. She stood on the other side of the desk, her jaw firmly set as she just…glared at him. Their first time properly interacting in years, and Emirko was just standing there. Then, she finally spoke:
“I watched the sports festival last week. Debut of your youngest son, no?” She hummed, her arms crossed as she stared down at him. She noticed the picture in the desk, picking it up and inspecting it with a critical eye. She immediately noticed the bruise, god she wished she had noticed it all sooner.
“Cute kid. Bet you were happy with how he came out.” She commented snidely, setting the picture frame back exactly where she picked it up from. “But Yknow, he seemed kinda off. And the stuff that green haired boy was saying to him…well it raised a few questions. I figured no better source than the horses’s mouth, as they say.” She shrugged, acting strangely calm considering she just put a scorch mark on his door and threatened to melt it down mere moments earlier.
“So,” she started, her hair starting to slowly lengthen and morph from human hair into a stream of magma and molten rock. “How, exactly, did Shoto end up with such a nasty burn?”
Endeavor huffs. "If you were to see your nephew in person, it would be clear that his scar is a scald, not a burn. My wife experienced a mental breakdown after the death of-" he holds Touya's picture out to Emirko, "your oldest nephew, she splashed boiling water at him in a moment of weakness. She went on to attempt to cool it with her quirk, which only damaged the skin and his eye further."
He smiles, voice proud "Despite his lack of depth perception Shoto is exceptionally good at compensating for it. Now, sister, please put down the photographs before you damage them, the glass will begin to melt soon."
"Shoto seems to have some trauma from his brother's death, struggles to use his Fire. Touya-" he taps the corresponding photograph's glass, something near condescending in his tone. As though Emirko would be at fault for not knowing the names of children she had never met, "immolated himself in a horrific training accident. I thought Shoto was too young to understand it, but it seems he internalised the dangers of his Fire more than we anticipated."
Endeavor's voice has gone solemn, there's a brief flash of sadness in his eyes as he retells Touya's death. Something old, a wound long healed but muscle aches still prevalent.
Emirko was quiet for a moment, then slowly sat down in the chair on her side of Endeavor's desk, making sure to not scorch or burn anything. "Enji-" She started, her voice cracking a little. "-you haven't made an effort to fix things between us. Do not start that game with me. Do you even know how many nieces or nephews you have?" She argued, crossing her arms again as she sighed. Emirko kept her kids far out of the limelight, it's a high chance that her brother didn't even know she was a mom.
"I'll be blunt and just ask it, since civil discussion with you never goes anywhere. Have you ever put your hands on your wife or kids in any capacity at any point in their lives?" Emirko asked, turning out her pockets and running her hand down her shirt to prove she wasn't wired. "Im not asking you as a hero, I'm not trying to get dirt on you for some big expose. I just wanna know. Im asking as your- ...well I don't know if you respect me enough as your sister for that to matter. But its true. I don't want this to be a conversation between Mag-Ma'am and Endeavor, this is Emirko and Enji."
She seemed to get a bit more fidgety now that she had asked what she came her to ask, tugging at her shirt sleeves and picking at the seams of the fabric.
Endeavor tilts his head back slightly, looking down at Emirko, just slightly.
"Alright. I admit, that when training my children to be the heroes they wish to be, I have struggled with overestimating their abiities. I have pushed them too far and each day I feel shame at how I have failed them." His brow furrows, jaw set. His eyes skip to the photograph of Touya. He swallows around a lump in his throat.
"Shoto is hardy, he is strong. But he struggles when telling me to give him breaks, we've been working on it. He is motivated to a near fault." Endeavor winces. As though a memory had hit him so sharply it stung.
Emirko could feel it, this wasn't right. She knew Enji, she knew what he sounded like when he was bullshitting someone. Despite this, she wanted to believe this was the truth, that it was just a lapse in judgement. Because that means Enji didn't do anything, that means Emirko kept her mouth shut for years for good reason. After all, if she blew the whistle on a hunch she'd be causing all sorts of trouble! Of course, she was raised in such a way that she knew all the signs of an abusive household, and she knew Enji well enough to know he was up to something, but still! She didn't have any REAL evidence, and now she's done her due diligence!
She worried at her lip, planning her next words carefully. She knew Enji was dancing around the brunt of her question, he hadn't REALLY admitted to or denied anything. She also knew about the bubbling guilt and shame in her chest, begging her to take Enji at his word and let his half-truths placate her...
Then her phone buzzed. She quickly glanced to check it. Ukyou, her youngest son. She suddenly imagined everything she worried Enji doing to his kids happening to her children, and something shifted in her. It was clear now that Emirko Aizawa couldn't handle this, she was weak. She was so desperate to keep herself innocent in this scandal that she'd let the guilt party walk away. She had to handle this not as a person, not as a sister, but as a mom.
"I don't believe that." Emirko spat, her entire demeanor shifting. It reminded Enji of the older sibling he used to respect, the brother that refused to tolerate Enji's chicanery and never hesitated to step in when his little brother stepped out of line. For the first time, Enji had to see with his own eyes that Yaoma never lessened, never settled.
"I know you, Enji. I've listened to you waffle your way out of things before. Cut the crap, just be a man and answer me straight" She demanded, standing up to glare down at him.
Endeavor has the gall to seem offended.
"Do you think so lowly of me that it is impossible to believe I have changed? Grown from a boy into a man? Do you see me still as that stupid boy?" Endeavor knows who he used to be. A boy once so full of childish rage that the hurricane inside him would roar into a fiery inferno with no warning, a devil child.
"Emirko, you give yourself all the grace to become the woman you now are, but give me none of the same room to become the man I am now? How can you claim to know me, what gives you that right?" He stands. "You have not known me. You have not known my family. I have given you the truth. What else do I owe you? If you refuse to believe me, what do you want from me?"
Endeavor is not a man who enjoys being called a liar, familiar rushing waves of anger, a monsoon rushing into his veins, brackish water invading his mind, floodwater attempting in futility to spill from his tear ducts. He'd been prone to burst into tears when angry as a child, he'd been trained out of the impulse quickly.
Emirko knew what he was talking about, she knew how Enji was treated by their parents. God she wished she could've stopped them. "I didn't say that, Enji. I never thought you were stupid." She promised, raising her hands in an attempt to placate him. "But I know what it sounds like, what you sound like, when you're trying to hide something."
She slowly walked around to his side of the desk, her eyes piercing into his soul with an intensity she'd unintentionally inherited from their father. She saw the wetness in his eyes, she knew the urge he was suppressing, she remembered the days Yaoma spent trying to soothe him before their dad found out. "This is the grace I'm giving you Enji, the grace to admit to what I know you've done and be the man you claim to be."
"I don't know your family, but I know our family-" she started, working up the courage to say what led her to figure out Enji's misdeeds, the smoking gun she hoped she wouldn't have to use; but she knew she wouldn't get the answers she wanted unless she pulled the trigger"
"-I know you're hurting them because they act like us, because you act like him."
Him. Their dad. Tenku Todoroki. The man who, for better or for worse, left his mark on his children in varying ways. Enji's anger, Emirko's harsh gaze, the sibling's silent agreement to never speak of their relation in public.
"Get out."
Enji feels like a boy. Back when he was in middle school, and had shoved a note into a girl's shoe cubby and his sister (though he'd thought she was his brother, then) had come and stood in the doorway. Play acting as a normal family. Play acting as normal siblings.
Emirko (though he didn't know her name, then) had stood there with a shaky grin and teased him about it. Enji had sat on his futon, bloody nose and bruised eye smarting like a bastard. Like Tenku had said he wished Enji was.
There were tear stains and blood stains on his pants, and he'd lobbed a handful of flame at her. Screaming at her to leave, to get out.
He'd only half meant out of his room, then. He'd only half meant out of the house. Out of the family.
"You do not know my family. You do not know me. I am no longer the little brother you knew. Get a grip, you can't fix everything, and trying thirty years too late to fix me won't help either of us."

On Endeavor's stomach, there is a burn. Tiny, warped from being twisted before it healed, but a handprint nonetheless.
Should you see it, somehow, some way, and somehow, some way, you ask. He would laugh, place his own overtop of it, the same as he did when Shoto, tiny, was in the hospital kept safe in his incubator. His hand, tiny, searching for an umbilical cord that was not there, pressing, tiny, against the glass. He'd say it was from when his youngest got his quirk. That he carries that day with him, proudly.
He would be lying. Mostly. Shortly after Shoto's quirk officially manifested, before he could quite control either side, Endeavor trained him. A child, tiny, warped by his own fear and pain and confusion, pressed a hand, burning near red hot, to his father's stomach.
