“I’m sorry. I don’t recognise you.” Alessa seemed casual enough until the woman stated that she knew her. Her posture became less relaxed and more upright and tense. Alessa was nervous about her. She knew most of the people who resided in Silent Hill, and strangers often made her nervous, especially strangers who knew who she was. Turning her eyes away from the woman’s face to the child in her arms again, she replied to the woman’s second question flatly, “I’ve seen one, you just don’t see many around here. What’s it’s name?” She attempted to make light small talk, but anxiety was evident in her tone.
“Perhaps you have read of me then,” she said, her tone not changing, especially in the fact that the girl tensed. “I am Xuchilbara, the Red God, Holy Attendant,” was her title, among other things. The God smiled down at her, then shifted her arms a bit, letting the child become a bit more visible. It’s eyes opened and stared at the girl, they were the color of blood with a rim of gold; it made no expression, but stared toward her in slight curiosity.
“The Child has no name as of yet, but one will be presented when it becomes older…”
Alessa heard the god's name, opened her mouth to speak, and mouthed words, but nothing came out. She made sure she enunciated this time, and spoke very softly, "Of course." Alessa hadn't recognised her but when she had spoke her name, things were clearer. Alessa forced a smile and looked into the child's eyes, slightly unsettled by their rich, powerful colours. She'd never seen eyes like them, and couldn't help staring into them for a moment, before breaking away and looking up to the woman's face again, unsure what to say or do.
