I love environmental storytelling
Ita fucking hieroglyphs with you people
Two World Cup finalists from opposing teams in this fucking picture, this sport isn't real
Context for anyone who is wondering: Lamine Yamal's parents won an UNICEF raffle for a charity photoshoot in which Barça players posed with kids, and 5 month old Lamine happened to get 20yo Messi. Which is like. Literally insane
Luke Skywalker put away his targeting computer to destroy the Death Star so I don't need AI to help me write an email.
The christian family in these memes (which are absolutely all over facebook these days) genuinely do always look miserable. Who the fuck is relating to these stock mormon farm cultists. That is a couple who made love only once in pitch darkness with bags on their heads then celebrated the pregnancy with a feast of uncooked potatoes and warm tapwater. The baby seems intrigued though. Maybe only by the bottle of pills??
Could not leave this in the tags <3
i love @makingtrouble's poem for their cat, socks, so so very much i needed to eat it draw it 🥹🥺
just had a really good mango it was so good that i had to illustrate how it made me feel afterwards.
op’s tags are so fucking important to me
when you're the crazy lady in a tinfoil hat at work because you have a reputation for not using ai and then you get to watch when the heavily-ai-built tool everyone was encouraged to put very important work on breaks and now they don't really know how to fix it or when it'll be operational again because they don't fully know how it was put together in the first place
a BIG problem has been found in another ai-built tool that's now going to have to be pulled and fixed as well
Currently obsessed with this BBC Archive footage about "A Spinster's Life" from 1968. The three women being interviewed are all absolute legends, and come at spinsterhood from very different angles. Some personal highlights (or, more accurately, notable moments, since they're not all positive):
"I prefer the term bachelor girl!"
One woman can't get a mortgage because she's not married. Another lives in a London bedsit rather than stay at home in a small Northern village
The consistent "they" the second woman uses to talk about potential lovers, and the massive smile on her face about it
"I realised I don't need to have a husband"
The first woman having a load of hobbies and being an artist
The third woman (pictured above, secretly my favourite) coming across very much as someone who doesn't really fit in anywhere, and the way she describes that
The way they each describe social expectation and what it means for them and which parts they do and don't reject
It's just really cool to hear these women talk about their experiences and know that all throughout time women have defied social expectations, even if it cost them in other ways. And hearing all this in their own words, with their different views on the topic, resists the tendency to frame women of the past as one homogeneous group and gives them back their agency and personhood.
The full thing is up on youtube if you're interested (I really recommend following BBC Archives, they have some amazing social history stuff)
According to fox entertainment this is who we should be afraid of. I didn't know who Francesca Hong was 10 minutes ago but thankfully now I'm aware of this monster and her monsterous policies
Primary election for governor of Wisconsin is August 11, and centrist Dems are working hard to make sure Hong does not win the democratic candidacy so PLEASE, IF YOU ARE IN WI, VOTE HONG.
fun little malware ridden true finale conspiracy
now lets not rewrite history
To be fair, they did successfully pressure Artur Conan Doyle into resurrecting Sherlock Holmes. You just have to pick easily influenceable solo authors.
Dickens was also pressured into writing a second ending to Great Expectations because the ecpected ship didn't happen. I'm not even kidding, lol.
Alpine Ibexes climb nearly 90 degree angles to lick salt deposits of of mountainsides. They crave that mineral.
Why is this back on my dash in 2018
Thank god this is back on my dash in 2018

I showed this video to my 2 y/o niece last night and now every time I get out my phone near her she says “chicken. song”
[A bombastic orchestral piece plays, to which the chicken steps in time.]
“Preußens Gloria,” or “Prussia’s Glory” is the song being played
The irony of this new breed of self-righteous AI hunters on AO3 is that they're all just copy and pasting peoples fics into AI detectors, which are all operated by AI and therefore THEY are feeding people's work into the algorithm without their consent and in some cases no doubt circumventing the locks people put on to avoid getting scraped...
Don't copy and paste anyone's AO3 work into third party websites, you're not the good guys in this situation?
Reblog cause FACTS
If someone feeds your work (fan fic or otherwise) into an AI you should be allowed to hunt them for sport
if you are a game designer and you force me to kill wolves AND you have them make sad puppy noises I'm killing you
see this never happens in spider solitaire for windows
Think again

So what I've learnt about Christopher Nolan's rendition of the Odyssey is:
- It ruined the Odyssey by taking out the Nobody scene and most of the gods
- It ruined the Iliad by making Clytemnestra and Helen twins (thus equally beautiful) destroying the whole motive of the epic. Also destroying the Odyssey again because it leads from the Iliad.
- It ruined the Oresteia. By making Agamenmon cool when he is a snake, and thus not leading to any reasonable debate over why the actions of Orestes or Clytemnestra might or might not have been valid. And just makes Clytemnestra a bitch. Oh and also more beautiful than Helen because her face got scarred or something (also i hate the "that face could only launch 500 ships" line or whatever)
This feels like the equivalent of What If? from Marvel in Classical literature. But they did all of the changes at once. And very much like What If? it ruined the plots and the characters and the arcs and was mostly a bunch of bullshit.
tl;dr i do not like this film :3
(Also if im wrong somewhere uhhhhh my bad someone tell me and ill change this)
