Winter in NYC makes me long for days of sunshine and mildly warm weather. It seems like this polar vortex is never going to end, so I'll spend my time fantasizing about the places where the temperature rarely drops below 50 and you can count on seeing a few rays of light for at least a portion of the day. Right now, my daydreams are based in San Francisco.
A neon sign spotted at Brooklyn Fox in Williamsburg, shortly before seeing "Her", a sequence of events mildly amusing to me (and probably only me). In the film, Samantha (the OS of Joaquin Phoenix's affection) says something like "the past is just a story we tell ourselves" which is both true and also simultaneously comforting and kind of horrifying.
In need of a little direction?
Saint Gabourey, Our Lady of Not Having None of Your Shit.
Bowie + Bing = a Christmas classic. Enjoy!
Oh you know, just a neon depiction of the female anatomy. Seen at Greenpoint Gallery in Brooklyn, NY.
Compare and contrast. On the left, my dad, our dog, and me as baby, somewhere in the Dakotas. On the right, an antique photo I found at the Hell's Kitchen Flea.
Birds. Trees. Brooklyn. All this on a dreary day.
Halfway through 10 days of jury duty. It feels like a straight-to-video sequel to Groundhog Day. Sans Bill Murray, obviously.
Good luck not dancing to this one.
Wisdom from the Art Directors Club bathroom. I dunno. What if I want to be stylish and slutty? What then, ADC? This advice is suspect.
All I want is to lounge in a park, Seberg-style. Will spring ever come? (I know it's only February but it's too cold and JS makes it look so good!)
Happy Presidents' Day.
Maybe try using Google?
The one thing that always stands out in MTV’s “Catfish: The TV Show” is the fact that no one seems to just…Google the object of their affection. Wouldn't that be the obvious thing to do, especially when talking with a stranger? I mean, there’s even a scene in each episode that is just Nev doing the most basic of Internet research. It certainly could help prevent future humiliation.
You know it's time for another Sunday night Bowie video! "Starman", live in '72. I love the concept of a starry space guy just waiting for the right opportunity to come down and chill with the human race. Dreamy.
Sequinspiration from Serena VDW. No idea what season this was from but I am totally digging the pale gold of her blazer being paired with such a bright blue.
