In an attempt to explain to my non fandom friend cockles lore my hand slipped and I made a [redacted because you don't want to know how long this is] slide presentation on about 70% of all I know about cockles. Thought i'd share it because I spent way too long making it.

Why alma is NOT misha, a list of reasons

she posted to her insta story a few minutes before misha had to present the critics choice awards (yes there are ways to schedule those but Come On)

she accidentally showed her private insta pfp in the corner of a screenshot she shared on twitter (and then reposted once she realised). i ask you to not spec about this here since this is a private citizen who clearly wishes to be anonymous.

misha is very vocal about the fact that he's anti musk and told us he won't be paying for verification. alma paid for a blue check.

seemingly claims to have never had covid (unlike misha)

interacted with misha's stalker on twitter (why would someone who's had scary experiences with stalkers in the past, reply to this person from a social media account that is in any way linked to him?)

claimed in Sept 2022 that she was recently in Ukraine

wrote a piece for tertulia recommending amongst others, misha's poetry. she/her pronouns are used and it is mentioned her forthcoming poetry book will be called "rope bunny"

i've seen the theory of alma possibly being a collective but (see above) this is clearly not how she advertises her brand. moreover, her style (both in poetry and photography) has always been quite consistent

@dimples-of-discontent when I zoom in, it looks like photos that are in an album, especially the one on the left. That one has a smidge of a printed white border before the bit that looks like the sticky page of a photo album.

He could have used a collage app but I doubt he has ten year old photos on his phone. So either just the left one is a photo of a photo that’s in an album or both photos are in an album together.

My opinion is that he got out his album to put the new photo in, felt sappy and nostalgic, and snapped a photo of them side-by-side. I couldn’t even tell you where pictures of me from ten years ago are at. I’d have to go on a big old search and, again, decade-old photos are definitely not on my current phone.

I’ve also been staring at this for far too long and I also think that the first photo is...a photo. Or rather, the 10-year-old one is a photo of a photo that Jensen has in his own motherfucking album (b/c it used to be a lot more common in 2009 to get physical prints of pictures) and the second one is just digital. Jensen then put them together into a collage app. I’ve done this with several old photos from albums myself and although I’m not going to share them here (privacy etc.) they look very similar.

Tl;dr - that first photo is a picture that Jensen (or Danneel) had printed and put into a goddamn family album and he made sure to snap a photo of it to recreate with Misha and share with us today.

for anyone who doesn’t already know, if your pupils dilate when you look at someone it’s most likely a sign of interest / attraction / arousal (take your pick).

I’m going to talk about Jensen’s pupil dilation for a second, because it’s incredibly obvious compared to whatever Misha’s eyes are doing.

let’s say controlled pupil dilation was possible. Jensen would probably attempt to conquer that ability for the sake of acting better. he’s all about the subtleties. we know that about his acting.

so if Jensen did indeed have impossible eye-controlling superpowers, I have a question. why would Jensen make a point of using that power to show Dean as attracted to Cas? let me list the reasons. 1. he was consciously playing Dean as bisexual, 2. he was invested in Destiel as a romantic relationship from the get-go, 3. both of the above. (of course, this is assuming that he dilated his pupils ~on purpose~.)

the thing is, though, over the years hundreds of actors and actresses came and went, playing other characters who interact with Dean, and Jensen didn’t bother to use this fantastic pupil-dilating power each time Dean was attracted to someone. so what made Misha different? was it that he’d be sticking around, and it was worth putting in the effort? nope. the writers hadn’t even planned on bringing Cas back after the first three episodes of season 4. Misha was supposed to be on set for a few weeks and then he’d be gone. at the time Jensen and Misha met, not expecting it to last, Jensen couldn’t have been deeply invested in Destiel as a future relationship – certainly not enough to care whether or not his goddamn pupils were dilated. this gifset is from the second episode they had together.

sure, Jensen could’ve been going for “the pushy angel turns Dean on”; end of story. whether he played that consciously or not, that’s what became canon. Dean is totally into Cas, hooray! nobody is surprised.

but c’mon, let’s face it. those aren’t magical eye-controlling superpowers. nothing’s happening to the lights to make Jensen’s pupils expand. it’s definitely not CGI. above all: Jensen’s not dilating his pupils on purpose. what you’re looking at is not singularly Dean’s attraction to Cas. you’re seeing Jensen’s attraction to Misha too. these dorks just met two weeks ago (8 days filming each episode), and Jensen is already hopelessly gone on Misha.

in conclusion, this is straight-up Cockles.

misha retweeted his own tweet on december 14th, 2018. THEE december 14th, as in, the day they dropped the anniversary pic one year later. 

and the wording of the tweet sound very romantic to me. i’ve learned (and gained) more by falling than i ever knew i could. and some things are worth falling for. he gained a lot by falling for jensen, and he was definitely worth falling for.

i bet that back in the day, people were wondering why he would retweet that tweet of his just a few months after he originally posted it on national poetry day. what was so special about that day?

well, folks, now we know. december 14th is a very special date for jensen and misha, as proven by the anniversary-esque post. thanks for confirming this even more for me, misha.

so recently i’ve been digging through misha’s instagram for science (don’t ask…. or ask i don’t have any dignity left either way lmao), i dug DEEP and found two interesting tweets:

so the man obviously knows the traditional anniversary gifts and instantly i remembered that tweet from last december about buying knives and how you crazy people (honorific) connected it to the 11th anniversary

that made me wonder, was it the only time he posted about something like that?? so i looked at his tweets from each year, few days before and after THEE december 14th and i found some interesting things:

that's because it's not for misha. god damn it. why can't jensen do anything without stupid fucking ships being pushed onto it?

Jensen has said in the past how he is not going to release any songs cause he is not a musician and he is going to leave that to real musicians, he has said that he is pretty sure his fans would support and buy his stuff but he has too much respect for his musicians friends who put so much effort and passion into it, and it would feel weird just making music and making lots of money cause he is already famous (and I have so much respect for him for that).

At jib4 he says that Steve was the one who talked him into releasing Angeles, but Steve says there wasn’t any persuasion needed cause Jensen was the one to go to him and asked if he could record it.

“I know he’s loved the song for a long time, enough to where he learned to play it — and it’s not a simple song to play on the guitar. After a small dinner party, he just grabbed a guitar and started playing it. I happened to have a mandolin in my hand and we played the song all the way through. About the song we were going to hear Jensen sing on the first album, Steve noted that this time, he didn’t have to persuade Jensen to sing on the album; instead, Jensen had been the one to come to him saying there was a song he wanted to sing. [x]

And I could swear I read another interview where he said the same thing.So taking it all into consideration, it’s really out of character for Jensen to record a song and put it out there like that.

But he did, after an awfully rocky year (almost) with Misha he releases a song on September 18, a song that lyrics say

san diego 2016 comic con, season 12. fan asks a camping-related question to jared about having the show reflect onto their real life experiences.

jared answers the question with a quick anecdote. but focus instead on jensen's immediate reaction to the word "camping". he turns and looks at misha with a knowing smile. misha also starts laughing, sneaking a glance at jensen before they return to the panel where jared has been talking.

well, looks like *something* happened to jensen and misha on a camping trip. there's a story they're not telling.

fortunately for us i've been on a cockles bender for the past 48 hours, so the "camping" reference caught my attention.

misha wrote a poem called "men in woods" which tells the story about two male friends who may or may not have kissed before going on a homoerotic camping trip where they do totally platonic things like sleep under the stars and skinny dip in a stream.

misha serves as the narrator and the other guy remains unnamed, but come on, its jensen. it's obviously jensen.

who else talks has KNEE PROBLEMS, is in a BAND, and GOES CAMPING/HIKING IN HIS FREE TIME?

the very essence of the man in the poem is jensen. the bravado, the showing off, the "whining", the contrast of his "boyish" and "grown-man" behaviors, the way jensen and misha met when they were 31 and 35, which tracks perfectly with these behaviors.

the poem is definitely romantic, but in a juvenile sense. misha sounds like a teenager. he's questioning if the other guy likes him, or LIKES him, he's flirting/teasing him about his bum knee, the other guy is going to burn him a copy of the cd they were listening to, blah blah blah. very cliche, very rom-com. it's the kind of mating ritual you'd expect from two high schoolers. so even though they don't do anything explicit in the poem, it's heavily implied --- or at least, the underlying feelings are implied.

so lets piece it together. the 2016 panel question made jen/mish both remember *that one camping trip*. That one camping trip was the one from the poem, and therefore one of romantic nature.

they laugh over it for a split second and move on. maybe they brought it up later, where of course there are no cameras.

in light of misha's men in woods poem and this wonderful post, it seems like a good time to re-examine the body language of this moment:

expressions

for both of them, there's this immediately kind of weird, mask-like, deliberate expressionless when ojai comes up.

something about it reminds me of the way you react in high school when someone mentions your crush's name and you desperately try to look like you're totally unaffected, when actually your heart is pounding and you're trying so hard not give yourself away.

if someone is genuinely unaffected by a topic of conversation, there's nothing remotely noticeable about it. it doesn't stand out. but this? this kind of careful lack of expression?? this only draws attention to the unspoken tension in someone's response, highlighting rather than hiding the fact they're in a heightened emotional state. and oh BOY is that the case here.

misha's voice

okay, so the way misha's voice suddenly goes very high pitched when he asks jensen if he's ever been to ojai?? VERY interesting.

we know from years of watching misha speak at panels etc that this is something he does when he's feeling uncertain or self-conscious. under these circumstances, he also often uses this precise tone of voice to shape something he already knows is true into a question. which in this context is, um. yeah.

misha also usually asks questions like he really wants to know the answer, or simply doesn't ask them at all; he's not really one for inane small talk. but here, when he asks jensen if he's ever spent time in ojai, he sounds uncharacteristically impassive and uninterested. almost like he already knows the answer.

again, the self-conscious casualness of it TOTALLY draws attention to the topic rather than diverting it away from it, and suggests there's a lot more going on under the surface than misha wants to portray.

jensen's gestures

oh dear god, the way jensen's hand immediately goes to his mouth when misha brings up ojai??? SO TELLING.

honestly, its the thing that drives me most insane about this entire interchange, because it's clearly so instinctive and unconscious, and it totally gives him away. touching your mouth is like, TEXTBOOK body language for when you're thinking about or remembering kissing someone. absolutely, insanely textbook.

it's also something people often do around people they're attracted to when they're feeling self-conscious.

so yeah. do with all of that what you will.

eye contact

another interesting point is the way jensen looks down and doesn't make eye contact as he answers misha's question about whether he's been in ojai.

this is totally out of character for jensen when he's interacting with misha; there's usually lots of eye contact between them when they're having a conversation. combine this with the fact that looking down/avoiding eye contact indicates that someone is trying to hide something?? SUPER telling.

stuttering

when misha says where he is, jensen seems momentarily lost for words - he just says 'you're in ojai, oh’ and then falls silent, like his brain has just abruptly gone offline at the mention of ojai. and idk. to me - especially in combination with all the body language during this interaction - this seems kind of a weird response just to hearing a place name??

like why not just say, 'oh that's nice, how long are you there for?' or 'cool, i was there once a few years back, really lovely place' or something conversational along those lines? it's such an easy thing to respond to, and yet jensen just. doesn't.

instead, there's this moment of loaded quiet and then he actually starts stuttering a little as they start to talk around the topic. which is again. pretty damn telling. especially as jensen is usually very relaxed around misha and speaks very easily in his presence.

fidgeting

as jensen is answering (and panicking over) the question, misha fidgets a lot, touching his face.

this is a really common indication of the fact someone is feeling self-conscious, and is also an absolutely textbook indication that they're hiding something. which again. VERY interesting, especially as this matches the indications from jensen's body language too, suggesting the thing that they're both trying to hide is probably a shared thing (ie the fact that they were both very much in ojai together).

breathing

towards the end of the video, when misha deftly steers the conversation away from jensen's visit to ojai and starts talking about it more generally, you can literally see jensen take this deep breath, like he'd been under a lot of pressure in the few moments before.

which, again, SUPER telling.

social dynamic

we know what it's like when jensen and misha have a proper conversation; it's engaged and full of laughter and interest. but here? the whole thing is tense and weirdly expressionless, like there's this heavy something brewing under the surface that they're both trying very hard not to give away.

for me, that's what really stands out from this whole moment, just this sense that there's something off, something at odds with how they normally interact.

it's also noticeable because all this behaviour is confined very specifically to THIS ONE MOMENT of the panel, and isn't present during the other points of conversation. why is it so different to the usual way they interact?? because they're asking each other questions they already know the answer to.

the whole conversation here is just window dressing; the body language tells the real story.

As the foremost cockles expert, I must ask what your opinion is of Alma Perpetua. I have heard the theory that she's actually Misha using a pseudonym, or that she is a friend of Misha's (perhaps even Vicki or Danneel) pulling inspiration from him and his relationship with Jensen for her poetry. Gotta say, I am this close to buying either theory at this point, cause some of those poems seriously scream cockles.

i’m not on instagram, so while i’ve heard people talking about alma being misha i hadn’t actually seen any of the poems until i came across this post by @eloquent-epiphany today.

despite my years of tinhatting, i admit that i didn’t think much of it when i first heard about it, because it sounded a little far-fetched even to me - but i just read all the poems included in that post, and my first immediate reaction was, these were not written by a woman. in my experience, women just don’t have all-caps handwriting, but men often do. there’s something inherently masculine to all-caps handwriting.

and while the subjects of the poems are pretty damning, they COULD be coincidental, but i just went and found a piece of poetry that misha posted on his own account, and look at this.

misha:

that’s the same fucking handwriting. 

check out the Es - you can tell that he does the back and bottom line in a single swoop, then adds the top and middle line afterwards. the Gs both have a tiny loop and a long tail. the Ns have a little bend on the bottom right corner. the J of “jog” and “jumbotron” are similarly formed. the Ws, As, Ms, Ks, and Hs are similar, even though it looks like he’s trying to write messier to disguise it.

like i’m far from a handwriting expert, but that’s the same handwriting. 

so yes, i’m officially buying in: alma is misha, these poems are about jensen, and i’m going to jump off a bridge.

WHY DOES HE HAVE TO BE LIKE THIS

Not sure if anyone has looked at this one yet. I legit feel nauseous with this discovery and I’m terrified that he will be upset with us for figuring this out. There’s NO DOUBT in my mind right now. Between the 7 weeks since the convention one, the parrot, and THIS snow one? It’s absolutely him, I do NOT want people harassing him, these feel so SO personal.

Where was Misha on that day? Shooting season 14, as shown here.

And when was the first snowfall in Vancouver 2019? A couple of days earlier.

It was anticlimactic, as the snow had mostly melted by the end of the day, but there was clearly enough there to write the poem. I feel sick, like. There’s no doubt in my mind, and I’m so upset that we’ve basically “caught him”..... Almost want to delete all this, but this bell can’t be un-rung. Enough people now know it’s him. This lovestruck beautiful man.
