“The Haunted Mansion” Herb Ryman, 1969

As Disney’s first Floridian gate began the design process, it became clear that the runaway hit of Anaheim, The Haunted Mansion, needed a place on opening day. The attraction would reside in Liberty Square, an original, colonial land exclusive to Magic Kingdom. This of course meant a Mansion with a very different architectural aesthetic than the antebellum mansion in Disneyland’s New Orleans Square. What eventually was built was a Gothic-revival exterior, but today’s piece (uncovered by Omniluxe.net) shows off a more colonial look from Herb Ryman.
