Being called a âsnakeâ was also unpleasant, compared to an animal was not enjoyable but when she tried to excuse herself, he simply sighed and decided to ignore the subject. Reptiles were alright, he much prefered felines and birds above any other species but to each their own choices, of course. Eyes would widen a bit at her chuckle, expecting Grell to try and defend Williamâs honor but when she mentioned âlovingâ the other, Michaelis actually cringed. Not only was âloveâ the most far-fetched thing for him but to have such strong emotions towards a man like Spears? He would rather run twenty laps around the planet while fighting each being from Heaven than even consider such a concept.
Sebastian continued to listen though he would have rathered shut off his ears, âYou could do much better than that chronic pain in the ass.â, that was mumbled out as he pursed his lips. He rolls his eyes and huffs again, âThe plan was to murder you but perhaps he did something decent for once or we would not be speaking today.â, reality hits him as the demon shakes his head, âNot that I am thankful for that, though your company is decentâŠâ, he bit into the tip of his tongue and shut his eyes; bit of regret washing over him for speaking such sentences out loud.
âMost of them draw me as a giant crow or a knight and I never understood why. Well, the crow part I can understand but a knight? In which way am I a knight? It seems offensive, almost.â, Michaelis was an Earl in Hell and had always been depicted as some humanoid bird or a man wearing dark armor. Of course, his actual appearance was nothing like such â leather and high-heels were very different from bird feathers and armor.
âOh, pleaseâŠI have already healed from them but I ought to punish you for that even now. It was not a pleasant thing to go through and you did ruin my uniform as wellâŠâ, he would squint his eyes at her and chuckle, âWas I wrong in the way I acted? It would only be fair to cause you as much pain as you did me. Perhaps a bit moreâŠâ, a sadistic smile adorned his pale features as he scanned her body as if recalling each bruise and cut he had left before.
Expression would change back to apathy at her question, ââŠI tend to feed strays whenever possible since the young master does not allow them in the manor, it is the only way to make sure they are taken care of.â, he blurts out before turning his cheek to avoid looking at the death-reaper. It was out of character for him but he just could not resist those little creatures; far too adorable and tiny, like they needed to be protected and stroked gently.
Cheeks would puff when she mentioned âhidingâ the cat; guilty as charged! Hoarding cats even after Ciel had forced them out of his closet, the one order he never seemed to respect. Certainly, he would be scolded once again if the young boy found out but he would make sure to lock his door with a special key so nobody could enter. âI â yesâŠso you should not tell him or he will force me to throw them out.â, he frowned and lowered his head.
So the cold skin battle had been lost, ah well she would let the subject die. At least he didnât seem too mad about it⊠She saw the demon cringe at her affectionate comment about William and eyed him curiously.
Grell laughed out loud, slapping a hand over her mouth to muffle the noise, âChronic pain in the ass. Permission to use that one on him?â she laughed. She shook her head and then quirked an eyebrow at the black haired man. She could do better? What exactly did he mean by that? âReally? I suppose Iâll take that as a complement? Although if you havenât noticed I donât exactly have people queuing up to proclaim how much they adore me.â her tone was still playful but much more sharp and sarcastic, âWe canât all be as charming and attractive as you, after all.â Â
Grell decided to let Sebastianâs comments about her near second death pass without comment. Instead she poked a finger into the coat and allowed the purring kitten to sleepily scratch its face on her fingertip. âI think she likes me.â she mused distractedly, âShe obviously likes you quite a bit more though- canât say I blame her.â Â She became interested again as Sebastian mentioned artistic depictions of him. âWhat? You're in some of those books? What do they call you in them?â she asked, though after her last few comments she was worried he would choose peace and quiet over the shelter of her umbrella.
The redhead glared at the demon but her eyes would then fall away for a moment as if she were a schoolgirl being scolded, âYour uniform for all the broken parts I replaced in the scythe after you jammed it, alright?â A little bit of resentment heated her face against the cold rainy air- punish her? How dare he. âWilliam has punished me plenty already for the whole ordeal, I assure you.â she hoped bringing Will back into the conversation would help end the subject. âWell I mean no, I donât blame you for getting even with meâŠâ a genuine shiver ran down Grellâs back at the otherâs rather dark smile, feeling his eyes on her in a way that made her tense up. For all his charms (conventional and strange) he was still really kind of scary.  âItâs all water under the bridge now though, right?â she asked. Funny, her little switchblade didnât seem to do much to make her feel safe against the demon...
More than happy to change the subject to something that seemed to make the butler docile, she nodded interestedly as he shared his kitten helping tales. Her lips found a small smile once again as Sebastian looked away, âItâs sweet of you, Iâm sure the hungry population of cats around here are grateful for it.â the redhead laughed, not mockingly but happily, âYour secret is safe with me, I wouldnât dare risk those poor cats losing their safety!â She moved a little closer as they walked so her shoulder would bump his gently to reassure him.
A few quiet steps followed and Grell wondered if she was at the point of wearing his patience too thin or not...âYou donât mind me walking with you all the way to the manor do you? I promise I won't cause any trouble- I just donât want you to have to worry about the kitten getting cold.â  She sighed, did it seem too much like she was using the umbrella to extort some time spent with the demon? She didnât really want to pester him too much now that she knew all he was doing was helping a poor cat out of the rain. âUh- I suppose you could also just take the umbrella with you if you liked. Though I would like to get it back at some point⊠Unlike demons reapers can get sick.â she joked weakly.
