i bet farmer!ghost is old-world as hell. spots how soft your hands look when you wave across the fence. no calluses, no dirt under your nails, no sunburnt shoulders. you're out of place in the mud, in your little shoes and pressed clothes. he watches you wrestle with a wheelbarrow you've got no business touching and says pretty thing like you's better off tendin' to the chickens, or a keepin' a pot warm for when the men come in.

it's not whatever the fuck you think it is as he watches you bristle. it's providence. he oughta shoulder the burden because you shouldn't have to. it's the law of the land, written into his bones like the seasons and the soil. (it ain't right for you to carry what he was born to bear.)
