“Well personally, I like to think I know a little something about being the underdog too.” Because Matt was right, the world was a rigid and scary place for those who didn’t have riches or friends in high places. Daisy had learned a thing or two about that first hand considering SHIELD had purposely worked the system to make sure she never found a home.
“It’s an awesome thing to be doing Mr. Murdock and–” Glancing forward she notices the sidewalk ending. “Three inch step down coming in five.” She warns him casually before continuing on with her previous statement. “I’m glad to know the world still has some good people in it, sticking up for those who can’t themselves.”
Because if more people existed like him, then maybe less would be like her.
“Please, call me Matt.” he smiled at her, “Mr. Murdock is a little to formal for two fellow orphans.”
He chuckled at her tactical guidance, though his hyper aware senses already told him with how the noises of the city seemed to dip there. “I’m willing to bet I’m not the only good Samaritan out there, Ms. Johnson. Not trying to be a hero, just trying to do the right thing. Help my city.”
Continuing down the pavement, passing the various structures he couldn’t see but could sense, the unlikely pair arrived at St. Agnes. Licking his lips at the nostalgic scents, sounds, and tastes, Matt swallowed hard. It had been years since he last stepped foot in the place. Would they find the answers they were searching for?
“You ready?” he asked, giving her arm a firm reassuring squeeze.
