There might not be anybody noticing this post, but still, I want to express my gratitude to MONSTA X fandom aka Monbebe.
I’m quite new to Kpop, I started to listen to it last December. It didn’t take me long to find my personal favorite kpop groups and I also found about MONSTA X quite fast, but warming up to them took me some time. Eventually I did start my own research about MONSTA X after seeing them in various variety shows. I thought that they were really funny and cute in their own silly way. That led me to listen to their tracks more and more. This was around the time when Starship released the official schedule for MONSTA X Beautiful comeback.
Now, during Beautiful era I’ve been completely absorbed to MONSTA X and now, I’ll finally move to my main point which is a huge thank you for MONSTA X fandom in it’s entirety. As much as I love all kpop bands that I enjoy listening to, all the other fandoms have seemed for me to be quite hard to join in. Other fandoms seemed like they had such strong knowledge and pride over the group and especially about their own biases which made me feel like I was “too late” to join the fun, which of course isn’t true at all. That’s just what I felt like.
Compared to other fandoms, Monbebes seemed to be so much more welcoming. Of course, just like any fandom, every Monbebe had their own preferences and so on, but still it seemed like that there were several of those extremely silly but still so cute shared opinions inside the fandom, which made it look so much fun and warm: (Shownu is a robot but a dad, Wonho’s laugh can heal anything, Kihyun is a caring mom, Hyungwon is a meme and so on..).
Altogether, both MONSTA X as a group and Monbebe fandom remind me of a family. The group’s journey has definitely not been the easiest possible - I was quite shaken after finishing NO MERCY, but most of all I felt so proud of the members for f.e. being able to accept I.M after all that happened. MONSTA X has had it’s hardships but still they give so much joy for their fans. The Beautiful era made both the group and the fandom feel so much frustration for not achieving a win, but still, don’t even get me started with the fighting spirit of Monbebes. We cheered each other up, we advised how to vote and stream, some of you donated money for streaming campaign, we made tons of gifs and edits, we laughed and “aww”ed and cried…
I could write a book about this, but here it is: Thank you for accepting me in your fandom. Thank you for all the fun. I’m so glad to be a part of you! :)
