All the Rage Back Home
noprodigalson:
“ Having a bathroom with your own personal bar and that’s the
size of a small house? Sure these people are rich, but that’s just pretty fucking pretentious, ” Dean commented. He had given a quick snort at the other’s comment, but didn’t push any further. They had their own reason and concerns for hiding here. Dean would bet that the guards running up and down the hallways would be just as inclined to arresting both of them––or even shooting them if going by past experiences.
The hunter had been focusing on looking around the room for any sign of escape. While the other man was unexpected, they didn’t seem to be there to cause any trouble for him. Instead of worry about someone who wanted to escape trouble just like him, trying to plan out the getaway was much higher on the list of priorities. The large windows at one end of the room almost had a neon exit sign hanging above them, pointing out to Dean freedom by taunting him with the open sky. Tempting, but what floor were they even on? He’d be able to survive the impact (perks of having an angel fuse itself with your body; something had to balance out all the cons at least), but how many people would notice his grand exit? He kept the thought mind, never knowing if he had to make a quick escape.
Damn- out of all the abilities he grabbed from his turbulent jump across realties, why couldn’t he be able to fly or even teleport. Sure, flying wasn’t his particularly favorite mode of transport, but it made for a clean getaway. So far, the most noticeable changes was that he could trap a few people, get obnoxious radio signals, topped with a pretty badass case invulnerability. He could enjoy the last one, but he didn’t really know the benefits of the rest of his abilities.
Probably having ignored his partner in crime for too long, Dean moved his attention back to the other man. In hindsight, that might have been the first thing the hunter should have done after a quick look at the other’s features.
He gave the man a quick, wary, grin, after he froze in position.
“ Well, this just became awkward. ”
He grabbed the flask he kept in his jacket, flipping off the lid and throwing the water at the black and red eyed man. Scrambling back, trying to remain some what silent as he shuffled along the side of the bar on the floor, Dean knew he was in trouble if there was a demon right in front of him. He looked at the bar contents, hoping to find some kind of weapon he could use. Bottles, glasses, mixers––there wasn’t much he could do to protect himself from a demon.
Margaritas?
Dean broke open the shaker, throwing some of the contents at the man. The container had at least some salt in it, but not enough to line a circle around him.
Dean waited for a reaction… and waited.
“ Ok, you son of a bitch. What the hell are you. ”
Gambit was wet.
Scratch that. Gambit was wet...and salted.
He murmured a curse as quietly as he could as he wiped the margarita salt off his face. The curse was in French, but Gambit was positive it kept its meaning through linguistic barriers. At least it wasn't margarita mix. This was a white suit after all.
He pushed a hand through his hair, shaking out more of the salt. It was hard to get it out with it mixed with the moisture.
"Clearly, I'm in de same boat as you, homme," he hissed "So perhaps it'd be wise to not draw any more attention."
Remy wasn't stupid. He saw the way the stranger's eyes darted to his own. Saw the fear in them. Sometimes people swooned at his eyes. However, there were others who saw them and thought him a demon. Clearly this man fell into the later. Le diable blanc strikes fear again, hmm?
"I don' have time for dis," he sighed, reaching into his pocket and pulling a worn deck from pocket. He absently cut it one handed as he listened for sounds of security. They would get to this room soon and Gambit needed a plan.
He had looked over the blueprints before coming to this party (they really shouldn't leave those laying around City Hall so readily), and knew where the security desk was. Down on the first floor. That's where they would keep the CCTV tapes. That's what he needed to get rid of.
He pulled out one card and held it thoughtfully near his face. Well, the easiest way to go was down... He glanced up at the other man, the card in his hand gaining a faint purple aura.
"It's been fun, but now I gotta go. Unfortunately for you, you can' come with as you'll be dealing with all de guards coming in from dat explosion." He drew a card and flung it at the wall, creating a hole and a distraction. He ran at the hole and leaped through acrobatically.
"Je me casse!" he saluted the salty stranger as he disappeared from the view of the opening.

Like if you want a Gambit starter! I don’t have many verses up, but I’m down for anything (as long as I know it).
Leave your ask box open so we can plot. If I don’t message you it is probably because your ask is closed.
Double Up
“Well, here I am. An’ here you are.”
[This would be the appropriate time to take a drag on a cigarette... if the red-eyed mutant hadn’t given up smoking. Well, it wasn’t like the corner cafe allowed smoking on the patio anyway.]
“So tell me, Madrox, what so important dat we couldn’ talk on de phone, hmm?”
I can’t seem to find any inspiration to draw lately so…have some Gambit spam!

“It wouldn’t be the first time I made a bad decision.”
[ He stared at the glass liquor put down in front of him. He wasn’t much of a drinker, there was a little issue on it not getting him drunk. ]
“You buying me a drink so I don’t make the bad decision or so I do?
“Well, depends...”
[He leaned on his arm at the bar, turning sideways to look at him head-on. Remy was never one to shy away from an interesting conversation with a stranger. Everyone had some sort of story.]
“But whatever it is, a sit an’ a drink can only offer a chance to think, ouais?”
♦
“Well, don’ you look sour.”
[Remy sits down at the bar beside the pensive man in the trenchcoat and motions for the bartender to bring over two drinks.]
“Hope you don’ mind me sayin’, but you got a look like a man ‘bout to make a baaad decision.”((meme thing here))

All the Rage Back Home
hellraisingangel “ If I catch you–– ” “ Give it back or “ Get back here! ” I’ll shoot your head off! ” “ I’ll have fun cutting “ THIEF. ” your finger’s off mutie––”
Dean jumped over a table, trying to doge bullets that flew past him and running around attendees to the party he managed to seduce his way into. He honestly didn’t know why these people were shooting at him. Just because he didn’t show up on the guest list when they started asking around didn’t mean he automatically tried to steal from whoever owned this party. Sure he wouldn’t mind swiping a few of the relics and fancy jewels the patron had on display but he wasn’t going to risk being filled with bullet holes for a necklace. Of course, when they tried to give him a pat down, throwing someone across the room with a tad bit of unnatural strength didn’t help the situation.
( They kept calling him a mutant. He didn’t even know where mutants came from, what made a mutant, much less why he’d be one. )
Running down the hallway, Dean took a sharp right into another ballroom, jumping over the stools and the bar before slumping down to the ground. It was a poor hiding spot, but it’d have to work for the time being. He could hear them talking on the radio, chattering and chattering, giving orders, yelling orders, sending static clicking their comms on and off switching frequencies more yelling––
Dean hit his head a few times with the palm of his hand, trying to hit himself out of the annoying slip his mind went into. He raised himself just a little, trying to peak over the wooden bar in the unused room. With the door open, he could see some of the guards run past.
Slumped back down with a sigh, Dean didn’t realize he wasn’t the only one here until he had hit his head against the cabinet and rolled his head over to the left. He stared at the other man, who was had been just content in staring at him without making a sound when he had frantically jumped behind the bar in an attempt to hide.
“ So, uh. Popular hiding spot? ”
Getting in had been the easy part. Getting out wasn't difficult, but the experience tended to vary. Gambit wasn't sure which way he preferred (to be honest). Slipping in and out without anyone the wiser had its own thrill, but sometimes strolling out amongst the chaos with a strand of pearls tucked into a coat pocket provided its own unique pleasures.
However, this time there seemed to be a commotion that the red-eyed mutant had absolutely nothing to do with in the slightest. True, he might be a bit out of touch with thieving, but it was in his blood. The desire wasn't going anywhere. Being an X-Men was great and all, but sometimes it didn't have the right kind of danger. When that news anchor appeared on-screen to inform the Los Angeles locals of a ritzy one-percenter party...well, some things seemed like fate, didn't they?
A nice suit, a pair of sunglasses, and a few flattering words with a pretty pair of legs was enough to slip amongst the crowd. Once the mutant snagged a champagne glass to accessorize his look, no one was the wiser. He wandered around the open-aired patio with the sort of anonymity only provided in crowded spaces. At these sort of parties, everyone presumed you were someone, thus you became no one. Remy Etienne LeBeau was someone, but right now he wanted to fade in the background enough to observe quietly.
That's the reason he was here. To observe.
Just to look around a bit.
Nothing else.
The thrill of sneaking in was more than enough.
Really.
More. Than. Enough.
...
Soon Gambit broke away from the party and found himself in an empty hallway lined with display cases. He tucked his sunglasses into his coat and looked through them with vague interest. Mostly garish and, while costly, intrinsically worthless. At least to him.
At the end of the hall was something different. A simple gold chain, a deep red jewel. It looked old and valuable. More so than anything else in these cases.
"Would you look at you all dressed up and nowhere to go," he grinned and knelt down in front of the case. "I'll take you out, cher."
He placed one finger on the cool glass, exerting just enough kinetic power to melt through . He slid his finger in a circle wide enough for his hand and caught the glass as it tipped out.
He didn't need this bauble.
There was probably an alarm on it anyway.
Besides, he was a member of the X-Men now what reason had he to steal?
...
He reached through and pulled the necklace from the case, tucking it into the same pocket that housed his sunglasses. Gambit had hardly straightened back to his feet when an alarm went off. Well, he had certainly lost his touch a bit. He glanced behind him and saw a camera not two feet from him, mentally cursing. Really lost his touch. With a quick gesture, he pulled a playing card from his coat and flung it at the camera. Even the satisfying explosion failed to ease his feelings of sloppiness. Gambit the master thief. Not tonight, it seemed. Now he couldn't leave until he found the security room and exploded deleted the footage.
He could hear footsteps approaching.
Gambit knelt down beside a door and picked the lock open as easily as if turning a key. He slipped inside and shut it behind him, not especially pleased to find an empty ballroom with little cover. Immediately he ran towards the bar, slid gracefully over the mahogany countertop, and ducked down. He held a card charged in his hand, ready to be tossed at a moment's noticed should anyone discover his (admittedly poor) hiding spot.
Remy listened to the sound of footsteps run up and down the hallway, but the door to the ballroom stayed closed. For the moment.
Frantic footsteps came closer to his door, pushed it open, and shut it hastily. Gambit tightened his grip on the card, but these footsteps didn't sound like a guard searching for a suspect. Before he could peer over the top to see who was about, the footsteps raced at the bar and slid over to join him.
Wearing a worn leather jacket and a generally scruffy ambiance, the man heavily breathing beside him didn't look like the patron of such a party. Then, neither did Gambit (a good deal of the time). Gambit watched him look around wildly and through the now open door (which the guards were sure to notice).
The man slumped down to the rubber slip-free matting on the floor and noticed the Cajun for the first time.
Gambit stared at him incredulously, red eyes distinctive even in the dim light of the unused ballroom. "Hidin' place? Nah, I was lookin' for de bathroom."
