Mister Rogers Farewell (x)
Eibsee lake, Germany | ( by Marcel )
Dante’s Inferno is the best piece of classical poetry because it’s the most petty thing you will ever read. Half of Hell is mythological or historical figures and the other half is Dante’s enemies. So the whole thing is like “I am Medea, who slew her own child to spite her husband.” “And I am Francisco di Vincezzino Fabriccia, who gets very talented and handsome poets kicked out of Florence, but I’m very sorry for it now because I’m burning in Hell and I suck.”
At just 8 years old, Xóchitl Guadalupe Cruz has invented a device to help low-income families. The little girl from Chiapas was recognized by UNAM's Institute of Nuclear Sciences for her outstanding scientific achievement.
“At just 8 years old, Xóchitl has designed and constructed a solar-powered device to heat water, using only recycled materials, Cultura Colectiva reports.
For many, this device may seem totally unnecessary. But, in Xóchitl’s community, where resources are scarce, “people don’t have the money to buy heaters, so they chop down trees to get firewood [to heat the water],” says Xóchitl.
Her device not only functions to provide hot water to low-income families in her community, it also saves trees!
Xóchitl’s family helped her set the device up on their roof and have been using it to heat water to bathe. Xóchitl says she always bathes quickly though, “so [the hot water] will last for my little brother.”

Mikael Chukwuma Owunna, a queer Nigerian-Swedish artist raised in Pittsburgh, has spent the past two and a half years photographing Black men and women for a series titled Infinite Essence. Hand-painted using fluorescent paints and photographed in complete darkness, Owunna’s subjects are illuminated by a flash outfitted with a UV filter, which turns their nude bodies into glowing celestial figures.
Owunna tells Colossal that the series was his response to the frequent images and videos of Black people being killed by those sworn to protect them: the police. The photographer’s friends, family members, dancers, and one person he connected with on Instagram serve as models for the project, which is named after an idea from his Igbo heritage. “All of our individual spirits are just one ray of the infinite essence of the sun,” Owunna explains. “By transcending the visible spectrum, I work to illuminate a world beyond our visible structures of racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia where the black body is free.”
And if the body were not the soul, what is the soul?
