Jim and Mr Onyx’s relationship is like John F Kennedy and Lem Billings to me. Yes you read that right. If you’re crazy enough (like me) everything can be your favorite historical figures

Or maybe I just have a knack for one sided relationships with unrequited love… but the dynamic fits Jim and Onyx so well… even in the Navy, Jim is still rebellious, and Onyx is the one trying to pull him back to the rules while simultaneously allowing Jim to pull off his cheeky actions because he’s just too fond of Jim to stop him… the two are lifelong best friends too… it all matches up trust me

I don’t even blame Scroop for hating Silver and Turnbuckle so much considering how he was practically third wheeling them for who knows how long 😭

Silver and Turnbuckle’s relationship is clearly far more intimate than Scroop’s relationship ever would be with either of them and I could only imagine how awkward it must’ve been pre-pirate crew being the only one around an annoying ass Ursid and Zirrelian pair with extreme homosexual tensions they never actually acted on. Also we have to take into consideration that (given Silver’s tendency to impulsively abandon everyone that loves him) Silver and Turnbuckle have probably broken off from each other multiple times only for (most likely and based on his canon behaviors with Silver lol) Turnbuckle to come crawling back to Silver begging that they should be together again. Most annoying part is that it works every damn time too, it’s why Silver and Turnbuckle have been a pair for over 20 years.

How much you want to bet that during occasions such as Silver building a father-son relationship with Jim that Scroop would come up to Turnbuckle to be like “you know he doesn’t want you anymore right?” Just for Turnbuckle to completely turn him down and continue simping anyways. Shoot bruh I’d be mad too

What’s your favorite Treasure Planet species?

People who have known me or have been following me for a while know this, but my favorite TP species are Zirrelians! That be Turnbuckle’s species:

I don’t really remember what drew me to these guys honestly… but of course by being my favorite they are also the species I have developed the most on terms of headcanons and fanmade stuff so far (both about their society and their biology)

As for other species I like, I can’t lie, Optocs and Mackrikis are battling for second place. Same with Procyons and Tuskrus battling for third place xD

Honestly, I just have more of an affinity with the “obscure” looking aliens in general. My only exception would probably be my love for the Procyons although my interest in them primarily stems from the fact that they’re canonically based on a mixture of pre-unified Germany and Prussia + First German Empire (also they have cool ironclad technology)

Something I made a while ago but anyways of course it’s in character for me to be making fanmade headcanon designs of the background characters in this film… because I think they are very cool (and I want to expand on these pirates for sake of my planned Silver-focused prequel fic/webcomic :p)

I might give this guy a fan-name at some point because it sucks that he’s just a Mackriki named Mackriki 😭 All aside though I really do love his species, probably my second or third favorite species… incredibly fun to draw!!

Similarly, I do have Mackriki OCs… does anyone remember First Sergeant Ribbons… this is his redesign!!

This is an older drawing of him from like last July which I intend to redraw soon as I have started drawing features such as legs on Mackrikis much differently lol (as seen in the latter redesign)

Not enough people in the Treasure Planet fandom explore the fact that the Procyons would rather commit suicide than be captured by the Terrans, like is that not crazy??? The entire thing with the ironclads self destructing at the threat of getting captured??? Hello???

Pride month soon so of course I am thinking about Silverbuckle again… Since Battle at Procyon implies that Turnbuckle somehow survived the film I’m now thinking about post-film Silverbuckle where the two don’t actually talk to each other anymore or interact at all really with their relationship now practically being one sided. Silver doesn’t really want to remember his time with Turnbuckle because he grieves it, per usual at fault of how impulsive he is. Turnbuckle would collect newspaper articles about Silver’s relevance (Silver contributing to saving the missing cadets [Jim and Kate] during the events of TP2, Silver then replacing Ironbeard as a big bad pirate, and then post-war literally becoming a knight in BaP and being assumed dead) and does attempt to visit him to be with him again come the start of BaP (the dark matter thing and how he gave it to Jim) but with the way Silver once again prioritized Jim over him and his (Silver’s) freedom, he just can’t muster up the strength to visit him again. He really misses Silver but he feels like Silver has moved on without him.

Turnbuckle also hates that he’s currently stuck in a loop of joining random pirate crews for quick money. He’s in shambles and basically doesn’t have anyone to rely on anymore… he constantly thinks about how much he wants Silver back in his life

I really want to explore his grief upon learning about Silver supposed death too… imagining him and Jim connecting over that shared grief hmmm…. I think Turnbuckle would initially be mad at Jim since Silver did sacrifice his life for him, but they get on good terms as they both share their feelings

Also gives me an excuse to make Turnbuckle a chud stepdad for Jim 🤫 jokes aside though I think they link up especially since they’re like the only ones that knew Silver like that and can keep his legacy
