Sometimes I feel dumb enjoying books for teens but tbh it’s not my fault every ‘adult’ book is boring as shit.

It’s always the same shit over and over again. Sex with no chemistry or soul, misogynistic writing (in a bad way, not as in making commentary on misogyny.), attempted Romeo and Juliet but there’s nothing actually keeping the two characters apart, no interesting world building, poorly done world building, BORING sex, plots that feel pointless or easily averted, women written by men, women written by misogynistic women

I could go on but you get the point. Worst of all is there’s no joy or feeling of fantasy. WoF has cool dragons with their own cultures and histories and complex problems and that’s why I enjoy it, even if it gets messy at times.

Whenever I’m browsing books for adults at a store I feel absolutely nothing. Like they’re trying too hard to be grown up. Is that all adulthood is? Cursing, sex, and joyless?

Nothing wrong with horny adults, but if you wanna write smut you should post it online and not make it a full length book, because you can only keep sexual tension entertaining for so long until it gets boring and you realize there’s no substance.

Even the fantasy books feel dull and lifeless. The characters aren’t interesting or likable, the world building is often ignored in favor of heterosexual bullshit. Sigh
