Henry carefully handed over the flyers. Liberal arts professors were definitely the oddest of the bunch.

“Well, that’s just stupid of them.” Henry didn’t mean to say it, but it slipped out.

“Oh that is holy” Fox hit his head against the computer screen as he graded projects. Is it SO fucking hard to name yeh bloody fucking layers!” he grumbled loudly.

Henry didn’t have time to deal with another erratic professor, but he nodded along. “I’m really just here to leave flyers.”

A big smile crept onto Amira’s face when she got whiff of the brownies that were baking in the oven. She quickly glanced at the clock before she grabbed the oven mitts, opened the door oven, pulled out the square pan and placed it on the counter. By the looks of them they came out just perfectly. As she left the brownies to cool of Amira could not help but think of what her first week of college was like.

Though she liked it here on Yalton University and loved the freedom Amira could not help but feel homesick. She missed the colorful shops back in Charleston, her beloved Aunt Angela and… her parents. Amira released a shuddering breath. The fact that she hadn’t made any friends so far made the feeling so much worse. She was lucky that one of her professors gave her permission to use the kitchen they used for class or she would have most likely lost her mind. 

Lost in her thoughts Amira jumped a feet in the air when she suddenly heard loud sound. Quickly she turned around. “Who is there?”

Henry didn’t normally belong in this part of the school, but his professor had asked him to drop a letter to one of the culinary arts professors there. He was pretty sure it was a love letter. The relationship made no sense to Henry, but he wasn’t one to judge. He was a biproduct of a relationship that didn’t make sense as well. Hopefully this would end better.

He left the letter in their mailbox and made his way down the hall. Then the smell hit him. Henry sniffed the air, taking a peek inside the room. The scent reminded him of home, of his mother. She baked the absolute best brownies. It was one of the few things she could cook, in fact. All of her other foods were just barely passable. 

“Smells amazing,” he said. “Yours?”
