Venus has been the vampire Seonghwa met just after his first love had left him in the dead of the night, the person to pick up the pieces and show the pure blood there was fun in life. They had traveled together, naturally growing close over sharing hotel rooms and more often also a bed - what was first only physical, soon enough turned into a strong emotional bond. They had been boyfriends for what only seemed a blink of an eye before Venus left rather the same way that Seonghwas first loved had left. It only now occurred to him that both men had left him in the dead of night, heart in pieces and mind secluding itself from the world. After Venus he did just that once he stopped looking for the older vampire, heart aching ever so painfully - a lot more than it had when his first love had left. A fact that Seonghwa had not put much meaning on, yet right now threw up several questions and those he did not know how to reply to.Â
Instead he walked more into the apartment, one which oddly enough didnât scream Venus to him immediately and yet with small details you could see it. âI always have time for you - eternity if need be. Donât you remember, my promise?â he asked nearly shyly, not sure if after all this time it meant anything to Venus. Yet Seonghwa has promised to the other that he would always find time to listen to the other, even if it was under the burning sun - he would be there. At times the pure blood could seem very wide eyed and naive, but his promises were never made out of a mood or to please - that at least had to had been clear to Venus. Now the vampire doubted it, standing in the apartment little awkwardly and with his tall built it stood out even more, especially as he fidgeted. Something he barely and rarely did, yet right now could not help himself.Â
âI have kept human blood away from me just to show the public a more acceptable image. Somehow humans get unsettled and nervous when they know that human blood was nearby and someone like me drank it instead of coffee. Especially the older people, as if I wanted a bite from their necks. No.â he spoke, much more rambled on as he was nervously looking around a space that he wasnât familiar with. Naturally he noticed the sketch book and a males face, one which had been drawn with great care and detail. Seonghwa with a ping of pain in his heart remembered that Venus used to sketch him and spend hours perfecting everything. A part of him, one which he thought has died or lay in endless slumber, somehow awakened with misplaced jealousy. The pureblood was not ready for such messy emotions to arise from a simple meeting with Venus - a goof friend, an amazing listener, a lover, a boyfriend.Â
Frowning upon the others words, he grew increasingly worried and also feeling like he ought to have looked more for the man in question. âVennyâŚyouâŚI mean if you donât want to tell me all then you donât have too. I justâŚhave you been hurt badly?â he asked in such a soft kind nearly pained voice, finally taking a seat as honestly Seonghwa felt this way he felt somewhat grounded. âNo spices thank you. For now I want the pure taste and maybe later some with a good amount of cinnamon or coriander.â His eyes moved about the room, landing back on the sketch several times and wondering who that exactly was. Also what meaning he carried for Venus - though the pure blood wasnât sure he really wanted to know all of that information, just like wasnât quite sure he wanted to know about the photo album. With painful clarity he realised Venus had lived and loved in his life, others having carried meaning and Seonghwa wasnât sure what to feel anymore. It somehow hurt more than losing his first love and it didnât make sense to him.Â
Venus smiled at the reminded, the promise. To be there for eternity. It made his check ache, and he had to take a deep breath to keep himself from choking up. Had it really been that long? Over a century. And he hadnât seen Seonghwa once. He bit his lip as he poured his wine, after Seonghwaâs blood. He sat everything on a tray, taking a deep breath. Now was better than ever to bring up the past, when he was already suffering deeply with his current lovers. If only those humans had taken out his emotional pain as well.Â
âNo, itâs fine-- Iâll tell you,â He insisted softly, taking a deep breath, and letting it out slowly. He closed his sketch book, pushing it to the side, and not casting a glance to his phone as it lit up with a text once more. He just flipped it over, tossing it to the side. âJust, give me a second,â he added, still just as soft, as his he took a sip of wine.Â
âI didnât leave you,â he started, looking to Seonghwaâs face. He smiled sadly. âI didnât. Eternity. Remember? I wouldnât leave.â He wanted to make that clear, because he knew Seonghwaâs past. He knew it hurt, and he hated that the other vampire most likely thought of him like that. âI was taken. By a group of humans. They used vervain to drug me and keep me contained and-- I was hurt, really, really badly,â he explained softly, keeping his eyes down. His fingers tightened on his knees. âFor forty years, they kept me. Contained and drugged and they did... experiments. And tests. They were fascinated by vampires, I think one was a hybrid or something, I donât know, but they knew vampires existed, and they werenât scared. And they were curious and had no morals, or they didnât view vampires as humans but as animals and even then, why would you treat an animal in such a way?â he rambled, closing his eyes as he thought about it all. He still didnât understand.Â
Flashes ran through his mind. The events, the pain, the torture. He was surprised he wasnât mad. Or maybe, he was, but simply in a way that meant he was broken. He had to shift, placing his head into his hands. âThey would-- theyâd cut me open. Inject me with bleach and other substances, in an IV, to watch it burn me alive, and see how I wouldnât die. And it fucked me up, Seonghwa. It fucked me up badly. Sometimes I dream about it, and I can still feel their hands-- their fucking hands in my stomach, and my guts being played with like toys. I donât know what they did, or if itâs just high pain tolerance, or, something, I donât fucking know, but-- because of them, they took away my ability to feel pain. I think maybe that was their gain, but I donât know. I just know, I canât feel a damn hint of pain.â He took a deep breath, trying to keep calm as he spoke, but it brought back such bad memories. âI went back to Paris, after I got out, in 1940, looking for you... I was hoping maybe, you were there-- but, you werenât, or I couldnât find you, and-- I didnât know where to go. But I didnât leave. Not like your dick of a first lover. I didnât. I was taken on a walk when I couldnât sleep. I would never leave you.â
