the diagon alley booknook from revell. would have been nice, if there would have been some stuff for the shop windows. i already crafted some wand boxes to put in the second storey windows from ollivanders. also some posters or newspapers or so would be have been a good addition to the walls.
bday present for a whiskey lover
wanted to swing my brush again, so i did some mixed media. watercolor background and gouache foreground.
based on this reference https://www.etsy.com/de-en/listing/1687333529/stylized-lake-with-mt-fuji-digital
i repainted the official dungeons & dragons mimic chest, a friend got gifted by someone else.
i saw it at his place, and the original paintjob left a lot to be desired. and i asked him, if he would trust me with repainting it. and he gave it to me. i think, he will be happy with the result.
booknook build of a kit from action (budget store). paid 8€, which is a bargain.
if i hadn’t build other (easier) kits before, i would have despaired and never touched this hobby again.
cons:
literally every wooden part was laser cut wonky. most parts had gaps of up to half a millimeter, where the laser had started to where it ended. so you always hat some sort of bump on at least one side of a part.
you had to glue everything. there were no pre-cut holes and connectors, to stick things into place, so they go where they belong and stay there.
no parts where pre-printed with whatever they representing. e.g. the fronts of the houses. it was all on paper. in glossy print. to be cut out and glued to the wooden part underneath.
and the manual was not well thought out. sometimes it was not totally clear what should be done and often the order in which things should be done was just stupid.
pros:
you had a lot of materials, to craft the accessories. i really liked the ideas of smaller beads for the apples, and the huge ones for the pumpkins.
and also the trees with the foliage. it was a real mess, as i had to twist the wires and then glue the foliage, but the result looks more cozy and cute, than expected.
and also the self build lantern from straw and beads. and the pillows on the bench. and the flowers and greenery on the other house.
i can see, where costs were cut. and i don‘t want to blame here, as i knew, with 8€ in comparison to around 30€-40€ for the better ones, there has to be a big catch somewhere.
but it would have been nice, if at least all parts were lasered without these wonky bumps.
overall the end result is pretty decent and makes me happy.

Don't care didn't ask plus here's a beautifully animated ad for a French supermarket that was made by actual artists
got this as an electronics kit from a friend. all contacts needed to be soldered. i remembered soldering last time, when i was in school. decades ago… well, i haven‘t butchered it to bad and i only burned myself three times. i guess, it was a success. 😆
diorama kit „corner tavern“ from spilay.
these kits will be my downfall. i just love them. it‘s like a puzzle, but the results are way prettier.
thankfully it‘s christmas time which is a good excuse to make one as a gift.
bergpark kassel, germany. polymer clay on wood panel, 10x10cm, added uv-resin for some water effects.
tried to emulate some depth and dimension. overall happy with the result, but still a lot to learn.
lit and unlit diorama with some water lilies.
z‘par the undying flame and its fire sprites.
