she was still growing used to it, a new change to her appearance: it felt much more easier, more free: like she could breathe. a part of her hoped it suit her, but it was more a reflection of her journey — what she’d been through, and a much more practical style for fighting.

a humble smile curls onto her lips, her fingers come to reach for the ends of her hair. pyrrha was still growing used to it, but it used to be such a huge weight — now reduced to something much breezier, light. ( much like the burden she once carried, lifted by her comrades. ) cutting it was a personal act, but to hear that so many favorited it, she felt happy, albeit a little embarrassed.

     ❝ i thought that this length would be more practical — with the style of combat i do. ❞ she says. after all, this way: she could easily move with both spear and shield, and her hair wouldn’t get caught on anything. ❝ i believe your new garments suit you, as well. ❞

         If   there’s    one    person    who    understands    being    put    on    a    pedestal,    it    was    Ruby.    Pretty    much    the    entire    night    she    was    caught    as    a    wall    flower,    taking    to    not    talk    to    people    much    at    all.    If    something    needed    to    be    said     she    could    say    it    quickly.    She    didn’t    do    well    with    crowds,    or…    People,    really.   Embarrassed    that    she    was    sticking    to    one    spot    and    examining    the    people    around    her,    she    thought    a    trip    to    the    punch    bowl    would    be…    Okay?    Or,    at    least,    something    to    do?

        Except,    NO    ONE    told    her    how    difficult     it’d    be    to    walk    in    heels.    Sure,   she’d    been    vaguely    warned,    but    she    was   never    told    that    she’d    be    walking    in    THREE    INCH   DEATH    TRAPS.    Legs    wobbling,    she    catches    a   bump    in    the    rug,    and    before    she    thinks    she’s    going    to    ABSOLUTELY    HUMILIATE    HERSELF,   hands    grab    to    steady    her.

          Relief    spreads    and    Ruby    smiles    and    laughs    nervously,    hand    reaching    to    her    neck    to    rub    sheepishly.           “I’m    all    good!    Just    didn’t    realize    how    much    a    challenge    heels    are    ‘s    all!”       Her    face    flushes    and    she    steadies    herself    up    again,    wobbling   a    bit    in   the    process.          “See?    Perfectly    okay!    All    good!”

     ❝ i see. i’m glad you’re alright, ❞ the younger girl’s response prompted a single chuckle from  her, pyrrha’s tone growing soft. ❝ well as challenging as they may be, i believe they go well with your dress — you look lovely, ruby. ❞

for maybe the first time tonight, pyrrha’s lips come to a smile. in a way, the rose always seemed to bring this out in her. the rose had an endearing charm, one that almost no one could turn away from, it was a quality that the warrior admired in her.

her gaze moves to the dance floor, watching as most laughed and swayed along to the music. she even spots a few of their friends there: ren and nora, blake and sun — she was more than happy for them: happy they all had the chance to unwind. yet, at the back of her thoughts: she didn’t think she was meant for something like this.

     ❝ everyone ... seems to be having fun. ❞ her tone is almost shaky, trying to maintain a cheerful demeanor. she turns to face ruby once more, to keep up their conversation. ❝ um — do you have a date tonight ? ❞

the warrior’s gaze moves to the ground, watching her fingers tremble, before she tries to calm it. to know that all they’ve worked for was for an impossible war: that salem could not be defeated, it was devastating, especially for pyrrha. she’d almost given her life for ozpin’s cause: remembering that day, the vytal festival, cinder— was she meant to be a weapon for a futile fight? the conflict that she wanted to prevent, could it not be stopped?

to hear ruby’s resolve, unwavered by the truth was admirable, but pyrrha found herself surrounded by her thoughts: the lives lost at beacon, all she experienced during that fateful day, and the guilt of living. it was a constant battle at the back of her mind, a frame of mind that her teammates did their best to ease— but hearing the news, they resurfaced: frown forming on the girl’s lips as she struggles to respond.

        she  lets  herself  slow  her  steps  so  that  she  comes  to  fall  behind  her  own  team  &  pyrrha’s  as  both  make  their  way  out  into  the  halls  .  truth  be  told  ,  pyrrha  was  one  of  her  favorite  classmates  to  watch  fight  .  so  much  grace  &  so  much  skill   ———  it’s  easy  to  see  all  the  effort  she  puts  in  paying  off  .    

        ‘  well  ,  hey  ,  if  you’re  ever  up  for  it  ,  we  could  spar  sometime  outside  class  .  y’know  ,  t’train  &  whatnot  !  ‘

pyrrha always made an effort to learn from others, a trait that came with her passion for goals. glynda’s classes gave her the opportunity to witness a variety of skills. yang’s offer prompts a small nod from the girl.

also just as a big note: by default, i do follow the canon that pyrrha has feelings for jaune, because i feel like their relationship and dynamic is/was very important for her character. so in general, i will be referencing arkos a lot, especially her feelings for him.

of course, this doesn’t mean that i’ll approach every jaune with that dynamic in mind, and this does not mean i’m only open to playing that ship !! feel free to approach me on the matter.
