Challenge [001] : Headcanons - Rebecca Hayes
Ah! A spider is in the house. Does your muse squash it immediately or take it outside?
Her hand twitches. Her first reflex would be to squash it. But if the spider's calmly climbing on her pristine white walls, or making its way on her spotless white countertops, she certainly isn't going to slap the thing and leave a mark. Killing things makes everything dirty, and Rebecca hates dirty.
Did your muse sleep with a nightlight as a kid?
As a child, little Becca was mostly unbothered by the darkness, but her mother had gotten her a nightlight that lit the room with beautiful illustrated scenes of the Bible. This comforted and calmed her before bed, and the little girl was unaffected by night terrors unlike most of her peers.
What does your muse think of big cities?
Having been raised in Wheeler and spent most of her life in the quaint Indiana town, Rebecca doesn't care much for big, boisterous cities with honking horns at every intersection and impatient residents bustling around. She dislikes background noises louder than that of cicadas in the Summer. Large cities always have background noises.
Name three things your muse couldn’t live without.
Her son, Andrew, the light of her life. Her little red moleskine in which she plans everything -from family dinners to book club meetings. Her favorite bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon.
What is one sound your muse finds absolutely unbearable?
The sound of stainless steel cutlery scraping against a ceramic plate.
Does your muse have any superstitions?
Black cats. Rebecca can't stand the sight of one without getting goosebumps.
What is one thing your muse wishes they could get back?
A 1988 signed copy of Roald Dahl's Matilda her dad had snatched for her as a child who-knows-how. The book had made her enjoy reading, the basis of her pursuing a degree in English Literature, and she always wished to be a loving and doting mother the same way Miss Honey had become Matilda's. In the end, she had lost the book around the time of her marriage, and she would have to wait a good decade before being the mother she wanted to be...

Hello and welcome to Penance Roleplay! I am thrilled to reveal the main page to everyone and I am especially excited about releasing the skeletons soon. I’ve been hard at work tweaking the main page and preparing the skeletons for their big debut. I would like to extend a huge thank you to all who have expressed interest over on the teaser page. Your excitement fuels my passion and inspires me to dig deeper into this world.
Skeletons will begin to hit the dash here shortly but in the meantime I would love to hear any questions, requests, or comments that you may have as you’re browsing through the main page. My memory loves you; it asks about you all the time.

I recognize that I love—you—by this: that you leave in me a wound that I do not want to replace. (Jacques Derrida, The Post Card)
mythology meme: [5/5] pairings
↳ apollo & hyacinthus
Hyacinthus was a young man and a lover of the god Apollo, but he was also favoured by the West Wind, Zephyrus. One day, while Apollo and Hyacinthus were throwing a discus around, the youth was hit and killed. Zephyrus was blamed for his death, as the West Wind was jealous because Hyacinthus seemed to like Apollo better. After Hyacinthus’s death, Apollo turned his spilled blood into a flower to stop his soul from descending into Hades.
