when i was a kid i didn't watch spongebob but every kid i knew who DID watch spongebob was incredibly rowdy and badly-behaved and foul-mouthed and i think my mom said something about her not liking spongebob or thinking it was a bad show. so in my head i assumed it was like Adult Swim Lite and was ostensibly for kids but actually not. and then when i was 9 or 10 i finally saw an episode and i was surprised at how childish it was bc i was going in expecting that sponge man to drop an F-bomb

same thing with pokemon. i had seen adults saying how pokemon was about fighting, and i'd seen my classmates get really into it in an almost aggressive seeming way. then when i was 9 or 10 i finally saw an episode of pokemon and was like wtf this is for kindergartners

the idea that every summer will be as hot if not hotter than this for the rest of my life is unbearable i need to (remembers suicide jokes are bad for my mental health) murder an oil executive

one time i had a dream that an ice cream shop had limited edition flavours as a collaboration with some movie, but when you went to the website, it didn't say what the flavours were or list the ingredients. it just had clips of the characters doing Cool Fights. and they assumed people would buy it just to support the characters without even caring what flavour it was

Wildfires in northern Ontario force First Nations to flee

Several wildfires are forcing members of a number of First Nations to flee their homes in northern Ontario.

“I had time to run home and pack a bag and get to the beach where the boats were waiting,” said a member of Namaygoosisagagun First Nation (Collins). “We literally had minutes to get on the boats and flee before it took our town. “Once we left my house finally after packing what I could in a pack sack, the fire was right behind our place. We had to run to the beach and once we got there, it was only moments before the fire had jumped over the (train) track and was coming for us.”

i have so many art projects i want to work on but not enough energy to do it. i miss my 12 year old self's ability to draw like 7 pages in one day but also i could only do that because my drawings were shit and i spent no time or effort on them

I just learned from the book I started reading on the history of defining colors that for a while in the late 1800s when margarine was first introduced to the US the dairy industry got really mad and tried to mandate that it would have to be dyed pink. imagine spreading a nice fleshy pink margarine on your toast

it's horrifying when you see americans complaining about something you've never seen in your life bc it's a horror unique to their country, only to see it spreading into your country a few years later. DONT INFECT US

in a weird space where i'm neurotypical-passing enough for people to say "you've probably been told you 'don't look autistic'" but not neurotypical-passing enough for anyone to have actually told me "you don't look autistic"

in some ways i am the ideal outcome for a spoiled kid because i spent my whole childhood being spoiled with toys and treats and having more stuffed animals than i knew what to do with and the result of this is that i despise consumerism, i no longer want any more material objects, and would mostly rather give away what money i have to charity

trying to go plastic-free for a second time. (my first attempt was JUST before the pandemic when everything shut down and you had to get stuff delivered in extra plastic packaging. so obviously that didn't work lol.) but the thing is i don't buy anything because i live with my family and my issues are so bad that i can't even set foot in a grocery store. so mostly going plastic-free for me means pestering my mom to not buy anything plastic and then getting annoyed when she inevitably does

i think it would be easier if i hadn't regained my will to live bc the state of the world is horrible and bad things keep happening all the time. now i finally want to live but i don't know how long i'll get to

the other day i was really depressed and i was like hmm i wonder why i feel terrible. is it because i've been spending every day alone in my room not going outside or talking to people? or is it because i'm low on protein and iron? so i ate some beans and turned out yeah i was just low on protein and iron
