HAWKE SWOONED AS CENAH KISSED HER RED LIPS AND PRESSED THEIR BODIES TOGETHER. THROUGH THE CLOTH THEY COULD FEEL EACH OTHER’S CURVES, AND SUBSEQUENTLY APPRECIATE THEM. (THE AUTHOR WOULD LIKE TO MAKE IT KNOWN THAT HE HAS NO INTEREST IN THEIR INTIMATE TIMES SO JUST IMAGINE HAWKE AND CENAH GALLOPING THROUGH A FIELD OF DAISIES ON A GREAT WHITE HORSE INSTEAD)
Olivia Thirlby in Red Knot (2014)
I cannot believe.
“Right,” he said, remembering himself. “As always, we are grateful for your assistance at any time and any due reward will be handled by the Order. You know the drill.” He was feeling tetchy today, although Maker knew the more often he was around her and her questionably merry band of misfits the less angry and single-minded he became. He couldn’t tell if that was a good thing. “So is it a blood mage? I’d really rather know going in.”
A hand lifted swiftly, as if to dismiss the offer in regards to the rewards system the Templar Order offered her each and every time she’d offered assistance. Whatever was given had been turned down every time, this was no exception.
“A blood mage, yes.” She confirmed calmly, “though that does not necessarily mean the situation will get out of hand.”
✗ || "But you can—" Fingers curl about the woman’s sleeve, tugging lightly as if to further prove her point. "—Kirkwall does not need of you again just yet. We need you here. I need you too."
“They don’t need me when they have you.” He left hand lifted, palm settling over the other’s slender knuckles as a gentle smile pulled at her lips. “I’ve done my part, Inquisitor. I’m no longer needed here.”
✗ || "Don’t leave again."
@hermortalcoil
“Inquisitor,” she breathed softly, eyes lifting, tendrils of dark hair tumbling over her shoulders as her head tilted.
“I can’t stay.”
He sighed, shaking his head. How a city so relatively small as Kirkwall could foster so many deviants was beyond him, even with the influx of Ferelden refugees.
“No, no, of course not. It is my duty. But I would not shirk the help, if you’ve the time to spare. Andraste knows the more hands the better when dealing with a blood mage.” He let out a breath. “Maker we had less apostates in the whole of Ferelden,” he grumbled, and then remembered himself, and cleared his throat.
She nodded, though whether it was to offer a helping hand or to note her willing disregard of his irate rambling she did not make it known. Instead she stood idle, then simply stepped off to the side after a moment, feet pivoting beneath her so that her position could shift and they could begin--if he had the time.
“I am at your disposal, Knight-Captain.”

“Please tell me it isn’t more blood mages. I can’t deal with blood mages at the moment. I mean I can, obviously, but I can’t.”
Her lips parted into an exasperated sigh, though it fell almost silently. She paused mid-stride, a mere few feet away, and proceeded to gesture with a surreal openness that spoke largely of her bottled sympathy.
“If you would rather I deal with the issue, it can be done in your stead.”
“Well, that’s hardly fair. I gave you warning.”
“If that’s what you’d like to believe.”
“What did I tell you?”
Isabela is quiet for once, voice muted and steps light as she slides in beside Hawke - one hand, rough from years of ropeburn, calloused from years longer of weapons sliding against her palm, presses warmly to the Champion's waist. She leans in, lets her forehead rest against Hawke's temple, and says nothing.
The rogue’s quiet steps were not heard amidst the depths of Hawke’s occupied mind. Her head was bowed, sharp eyes glued on what lay before her; slender shoulders slumped, once-silken tendrils of ebony hacked short in the most recent years. Her hair was tousled, thrown and pushed back between equally calloused digits in frustration and exhaustion. Ever the martyr, Marian continued to work tirelessly even despite her shortcomings, though perhaps that was why she strove that much harder. The hell she helped unleash, the destruction that became of the place she came to call home—she had to make it right.
—but it was a curling arm that drew her out from her own mind, grounding her to reality for only but a moment as the warmth spread. Her head tilted, chin lifting just enough to peek back through her peripherals at the flighty Captain who never seemed to be anything further than a step behind, even when miles of landmass separated them both. Isabela never cast her anchor for too long.
A breath escaped her then; quiet sound of relief as she leaned back just enough to further the contact that seemed to come and go environment permitting, and her neck craned just enough for their cheeks to brush. She didn’t need conversation, she needed peace, and that was exactly what she was being given.
