nobunaga-the-warlord:
Nobunaga had to agree with the pegasus knight there. While he might not agree with Chrom or Emmeryn all the time, their kingdom was truly beautiful. The huge rolling plains, deep forests, and even the towns were homey. A far different scene than the blackened charred ruins that was left by his enemies.
“Perhaps…” The thought of returning to this Valm almost terrified the dragon. They would still be at war, unifying the continent during this year… Which meant Pheros would still be there. The idea of meeting his adoptive sister and former lord set an uneasy weight in his stomach. Not to mention the traitorous Excellus whisper lies into everyone's ears. “There are just… many people I am not looking forward to meeting once more.”
“The Empire a truly wondrous place. We have a mix of cultures all around our grand city. A show of good faith that even conquered you still retain your own customs. In the middle of it all is the grand castle of Valm. A masterpiece to show the strength of the Empire both to intimidate our enemies and remind our people they are safe under our protection.”
“I’m sure you are welcome here for as long as you need.” Sumia almost reached out towards Nobunaga but felt the action would have been too familiar. She wasn’t sure what to think quite yet about him, but it seemed that he was troubled. “There is no saying if you’d have to deal with them.”
Sumia fell silent again. Perhaps it was a bad idea to ask him about it so quickly, but she was happy when the subject was slightly changed. From the way that Nobunaga spoke of Valm, she got the impression he truly loved his home. She felt similarly about Ylisse, so it was heartwarming and yet tragic to listen. After all, he couldn’t return.
“What kind of customs did you have? Were you drawn to anything in particular?” Sumia wasn’t sure entirely how she felt about the country, but she wanted to know more before she made any firm judgments. “Is the castle bigger than our own?”
